Young adults at coming close to the finish line of their college career have a dynamic variety of emotions that they might feel before putting on their cap and gown and moving onto the real world. It is an overwhelming roller coaster for some and can cause panic, joy, frustration, anxiety, and also happiness. There are several areas of one’s life that change during this transition into life. There is no absolute answer to how each individual defines happiness; it is merely just a prescription of how each individual integrates happiness into their life. Happiness can range from a feeling such as going to a concert to a form of self-accomplishment such as passing an exam. Throughout the semester, this class has influenced my definition of happiness; it expanded my horizon on leisure and how leisure plays a significant role in my life. Our career, leisure, and lifestyle are all changed after graduation; how we deal with that change and see ourselves during that transition all affect our prescription for happiness. While each individual has a different set of values and opportunities, each individual needs to have an idea of where they want to go in life and how to get there. Leisure is improving one’s quality of life through subjective interpretations of satisfaction; leisure can be anything that is stimulating and satisfying to an individual. We all have different ideas of leisure and lifestyles, but no individual can live without leisure. The foundations of my family and friends I have developed a set of values, goals and objectives that I aim to achieve with my life; within leisure, career, and my lifestyle I hope to have a balanced and successful life. Going on forward, my prescription for happiness will continue to positively influence the way I live my life, all of these aspects will continue to grow and help me over the next decade. My twenties will bring me a handful of new possibilities that I am looking forward to unfolding.
