Dancing is not only a physical activity. It’s also a mental activity that makes you conscious about what you’re doing and how you’re going to do it. I know that dancing comes from the heart and soul therefore, when I dance it’s like nothing else matters. I want to pursue this career and go farther with it. How much will my pay be? How long will I work until i can retire? Are there multiple jobs I can take as I progress through my career as a dancer? You don’t start from the top and then relax. It’s a staircase with pins and needles on it, which you have to step on barefoot and bleed to really want the job. I plan to start during college and join a dance studio to blossom my technique into more advanced methods of dancing. I’ll put myself out there and join many different and new types of dance. This will better prepare me for later on when they assign me different kinds of dances. So it will go in the following order: Dance Student, College Student while attending a studio, Dancer on TV/Music Videos, Dance Teacher and/or …show more content…
Retirement comes early for dancers, usually in their early 40s, because the job tires the dancers body. However, this isn’t the end of dancing all together. After retirement, I will become a dance teacher/choreographer. I want to come back to my hometown of Los Angeles and teach a field of kids from around 12-18. I don’t know when I’ll end my dancing career as a whole. That all depends and when my body will give up on me. Hopefully that doesn’t come until years after I’ve lived life to the

Chapter twelve dance in education and career in dance, many dance educators present the argument that teaching and learning dance as an art form is obviously absent from the American student education. Ballet is an athletic art form that utilizes muscle control, flexibility, and physical strength. It requires extreme discipline from the dancers and takes an extreme amount of mental concentration. This discipline causes dancers to have success throughout life and specifically in academic studies. There are many ways that dance can affect the success of a person’s life; however, there are two in specific that make dancers generally more successful. To begin, ballet causes dancers to be self-motivated workers; dancers cannot rely on others to push them to be better, but must have the drive within themselves.
For the dancer, music and choreography are paramount. The music guides the dancer, and the moves express the music. However, the dance has to start from somewhere.
When I was about four or five years old, I was introduced to Ballet. I adored being a little ballerina and would read the same dance booklet everyday, practicing the five positions and gracefully positioning my tiny arms and fingers to match the little girl in the illustrations. Because I loved dance so much, my mother enrolled me in Donna Hammond-Phelps
The typical idea of a dancer is that they are tall, slender, full of energy, and lucky because they dance with all of the “stars”. Much of this is true, however, what many people do not think of are the many hardships that a dancer goes through in order to achieve their high status in the dance world. It takes much hard work and determination along with good direction to become a dancer. However, nothing good comes without a price. Dancers often times have many pressures put on them which can lead to physical and emotional damages. These damages occur through the pressures from the media, parents, teammates, and the stereotype that society has placed on dancers.
I have been dancing since the age of four. I started my intense training with Tanju and Patricia Tuzer, Debra Bale, and Linda Brown at Tuzer Ballet. I developed as a dancer, attending every summer intensive performing in every show, advancing from intermediate to apprentice to junior company and finally to senior company. The dance studio became my second home. I took classes in ballet, pointe, modern, contemporary, tap, jazz, lyrical jazz, theatrical movement, hip-hop, zumba, and African-Ballet, pointe, contemporary, and lyrical jazz being my favorites. does our society fail to respect dance as a sport? Dancing as a career requires an incredible
I have been a dancer since the age of 3. My earliest memory of dance was when I was too terrified to go on stage during a recital and I refused to go on no matter how much they tried to push me. Up until the age of about 12, dance had been just a hobby or an extracurricular activity. In fact, I didn’t even enjoy going to dance. I didn’t have friends there and I wasn’t that good of a dancer. It wasn’t until I participated in Dance Bermuda’s summer dance intensive in collaboration with the American Ballet Theatre in 2012, that I realized that I had a passion for dance. At the program, I was exposed to other dancers that were my age and older and most of them were much more advanced than I. So to avoid being the worst dancer in the program, I took to YouTube and watched hours and hours of dance videos. I researched all the ways to improve my ballet technique. I can remember trying to practice my pirouettes in the kitchen and falling onto the table and knocking a whole bunch of things over. I was determined to be as good as the other girls in the program. By the end of the two weeks I was fired up, motivated, and ready to get back to class after the summer.
There are hundreds of professional dancers across the world waiting to reach their success, and out of those hundreds of dancers, I qualify in becoming one. Dance is my passion, my adrenaline, and my focus that keeps me persevering through life and its obstacles. Dancing requires a lot of dedication and hard work. “Successful dancers must have excellent balance, physical strength, and physical dexterity, so they can move their bodies without falling” (Dancers and Choreographers). If serious about dance, dancers have to have discipline in taking the time out to practice, study, and practice some more. If dance is what you're look forward to doing, I'd get busy because time waits for no one…
Miami Dade College’s very own dance majors, who were challenged by the artistry of guest choreographers as well as themselves, performed The Art of Dance. Watching this performance truthfully made me question if the dancers in this program were being trained properly to be professional dancers
...riginate in the rave scene, later down the road it could have its own events and I’ll be in charge of hosting the events. Eventually starting my own dance studio mainly based on street dance. I know the right people who can help me make this possible from my experience with Go-Go dancing at different events and raves, dance is my passion and I have the power to do this. I’m bringing dance to the next level in Salt Lake City! . I will be the one that originates street dance in Salt Lake. And eventually start my own dance studio. According to Martha Graham, “Dance is the hidden language of the soul.” To me, dancing is more than just a hobby, it is my life. My dance team is also more than just a team, it is my second family. Each girl on my team has her own unique personality, but somehow, we all get along well. We are all such good friends and have had to make it through many difficult situations already, but all it has done was bring us closer together. The girls on my team are all caring, talented, and funny.
...lly dancers have to love the dance, because for all that work, dancers get little money—workshops with master dancers usually cost around seventy-five dollars, costumes average five hundred dollars each, and dancers are usually paid only fifty dollars for two and a half hours of work. But Belinda Shakar cannot imagine her life without dance: “I’ve gone through so many careers, but I’ve always stuck with belly dance. I’ve just been doing it for so long.” From dancing, she has found freedom in being in touch with her body and the healing powers of movement. She is now working as a massage therapist, helping others free up their bodies as well. For her, dance is about enjoying her body and expressing her sensuality, not entertaining others or making money. So she is not at all concerned about making it to the top. Besides, she says, “in belly dancing, there is no top.”
I had my first dance recital on the day I turned four. Now I don’t remember anything from that day, but I believe that that day is when I learned I loved to perform. I’ve been taking dance lessons since then, and many things that I do now involve performing in some type of way.
Like any first experience we remember all the details of the event. I remember my first dance class at J in Jazz Dance Studio. I was under the instruction of Julie Pederson who was one of the young faces in my little town of Sierra Vista. I was thirteen and thought that the class was awesome. Now if you are under the impression that I was great the first time around you are wrong. I was the one goofy awkward kid who was there having fun. Julie thought that I would be gone by the end of three months because I couldn’t hack it. She was just glad that I was there having fun and being a good student. According to some experts, since I started after the age of ten I was not supposed to be any good. Just six months after starting, something somewhere happened to both me and my dance ability. I was put on the competition/performance team, and then I just kept excelling from there. Every year or two, I was put on a higher more difficult team.
