" Deleted Author´s brother´s name" I.S.P. - My Hero Profile
At only 17 years of age my brother has done a lot with his life. He is someone that I look up to because he has been good at sports all though his life. He won the MVP award at his school for playing basketball. He swerves this way and then that, before shooting an almost perfect three pointer.
"I started to get better by just shooting hoops," he told me. "After a while I started to play games and got to know all of the rules." Although when he first started to play the net was only set to six foot, he got better and better while moving the net higher and higher.
The only way that he learned to shoot better was to teach himself, until grade six when he played on his first competitive basketball team. "It was very challenging and wanted to quit, but stuck to it and eventually got good. He started to watch NBA on the television and watched all of their tricks and fakes carefully. By the time he was in grade eight he got the MVP award for scoring the most baskets on his team.
Once his team had beat all of the school's in the area they moved on to WOFSA and got 6th place, not bad for a team from the small town of West Lorne. "I love to play, once you start playing you just don't want to stop." He kept playing all the way until he was in grade 10, the first year that there was no basketball team.
Although he was disappointed, he still keeps playing every now and then, in our backyard. He will hone his skills more and more and hopes to be on next years basketball team, at W.E.S.S. Everyone around him supports him 100 percent including: my mom, my dad, his teachers and me.
Assignment details: Analyze the components of the hero’s journey. Basically, support the argument that Jaws follows the epic hero cycle. To Michael playing basketball in the NBA “seemed something of a distant dream'; (Halberstam 20), but even after he was cut from the varsity team Michael still practiced every day. Michael’s practice paid off in his junior and senior years when he was the best player on the varsity team. After high school Michael was off to the University of North Carolina where for three years he would have some amazing accomplishments in basketball.
Jordan played basketball for Laney High School in Wilmington, North Carolina. Ironically, he was cut from the varsity team his sophmore year. Instead of giving up after not making the team, Jordan used it to encourage himself to do better, spending hours on the basketball court. He said that whenever he was working out and got tired, and he figured he should stop, he would just picture the list in the locker room without his name on it, and that was enough to get him going again. Jordan eventually made the team, and led them to the state championship.
Deviant theories from a positivist perspective are based on biological or social determinism. Determinism is the view that something “is determined or caused by forces beyond the individual’s control” (Thio, 2010, p. 7). Positivist sociologists apply the deterministic view to each individual deviant to determine the reason for his or her deviant behavior. Multiple theories from the positivist perspective try to explain the reason for deviant behavior. Phrenology and anomie-strain are two such theories that have been used to explain deviant behavior from this perspective.
Downhill often has connotations of degradation and immorality but this omen is ignored as it is rendered immaterial by the easy decent offered by the downhill path. The poem continues in its promisingly upbeat tone into the second stanza as it appears that the promise of the downhill path has come into fruition. ‘The two ease together in glowing august weather’ both the words ‘glowing’ and ‘together’ have exceptionally positive connotations. The air has a distinct sweetness as even the natural world seems to lead the couple down the road with ‘the honey breathing heather’ that lay to their left and right make it appear as though the air is thick with sweetness. While the repetition of the ‘h’ sound gives the poem an airy quality and reminds the reader of the alliteration of ‘west wind’ again drawing attention to the way the natural world appears to be encouraging the couple. ‘Her swift feet seem to float’, the soft alliteration of the ‘f ‘adds to the feeling of ease and floating while the repetition of the ‘t ‘sound at the end of each word adds to the quickness of the decent as the words are
...g well-educated can be anyone having a wealth of knowledge in any area in education or life.
Throughout his childhood and teenage years Terry has shown strong determination to achieve his goals. As a child Terry had always wanted to play basketball for his school. Unfortunately, he was not very good at this sport. He practiced until in eighth grade when he made the basketball team. His coach advised him to take up a different sport such as running or soccer due to his short height. Although
An English proverb states, “ A hero is a man who is afraid to run away”. I agree with this proverb, because when you see a hero in a comic book, they have super cool back stories, are not afraid to fight, and stare danger in the face and not blink. They are not afraid of anything. That’s nice to look up to, but they are not real. Our definition of a hero is too much for one man to become, you can do something honorable, heroic, but you will never actually be a hero because it's too much, in real life. Heroes don’t just do it so they can get paid, or respect. What really determines whether someone is a hero is if they choose to do something about it in a bad situation. We have people that do heroic acts, for example, people putting their lives before others. Those people cannot be heroes because they get paid to do it, they are, firefighters, cops, and military, they get paid to help people, so they aren't considered a hero.
Also, Pete father would say, “A good basketball player can make up for a lot if he has hands as fast as a gun fire” then he would get Pete to do a drill where held a basketball at the bottom of his neck and Pistol has to clap his hands in front of him then catch the ball when his father drops the basketball (Schroeder, 1991). Pete was not very successful when first trying this drill and so Pete’s mother told Pet’s father Press that it’s impossible and so the father completed this drill just to show his son that it was possible. Pete father just stayed on his son about confidence and the difference between thinking you can do something and knowing you could do something. Press Maravich believed that if you knew you could do something then most likely you would succeed at the task at
What is the standard of being well educated? Is it to fluently speak English? Or is it to engineer the newest product? Being well educated, is it to be well mannered? Perhaps, being well educated is to attend an esteemed Ivy League institute? Could a well-educated person not have attended a prestigious university? Is being well-educated transcultural? Further, is being well-educated absolute? Frankly, today’s definition of being well educated is not constant from culture-to-culture or person-to-person; that is, its definition is not absolute. Although the details of being well educated may differ from culture-to-culture and person-to-person, a consistent truth that tends to interlink with being well educated is having the knowledge to fulfill one’s dreams, regardless of particularly where one attains the knowledge.
After middle school, my next goal was to become the star at my high schools basketball team. Unfortunately when I arrived the talent was much greater than it was in high school. There were kids in my grade who were dunking and at the time, and I could barely touch the net. Undaunted by the task I participated in a scrimmage with the Varsity team. The first time I got the ball I was open, so I shot the ball and missed the shot. I still kept my head up and after missing my first three shot attempts I decided that it was not my night so I tried to have a positive impact on

Dr. D is a cardiothoracic surgeon. He was my hero. He may well still be, even though he is a throw-back to the days when I was more concerned about science than symbolism.
When I turned six years old I was old enough to play on a Little League team, and my father volunteered to be the coach. He worked long hours but always found enough time to dedicate to the team. At first our team was not very good, but that would soon change. My father practiced us hard every week and by the end of the season we made the playoffs. Even though we did not win the Championship that year, our team had reason to be proud. We won a few games, and we had a lot of fun, thanks to my dad. I played baseball for a total of ten years, and he was my coach for at least half of them.
When I was about seven years old my dad wanted me to go out for basketball so I tried out, he is one of the most athletic people I know. Well ever since he had me go out for basketball I have been doing sports then when I want to give up when I can’t make that perfect lay up or when I can’t make that perfect over hand serve he will sit there and help me do it till I get it done and done right. My dad also taught me how to play half my spor...
