When starting in the music business an artist has the choice of how they want to make the most of their career, that could involve how they want to market, gain a following, or what kind of music they want to focus on making. They also have the choice on which they want to use their music for advertising or if they want to try to make it totally on their own. Now that choice can seem like a difficult one because there are many factors that can vary on both sides, but selling songs for advertisement is the better choice. Musicians should sell their music for advertising because it is an easier way to make money, gain a following and survive in the music industry. Artists should use their music as advertising because it is an efficient way to make money. A tour and making an album can cost a lot of money. Costs are rising these days, you have to pay booking agents and tour managers, you also have to pay for transportation, gas, and food. Even the cost of creating merchandise can be costly. Now with online streaming not as many people are buying whole albums, and the profit an artist now makes may be small because of all these other factors(Stacia Coates). Online music streaming can be a big help to musicians who are trying to get their music out there and be heard by a wider audience(Jacob Carter).
