Though there are some aspects to Adnan Syed that point to him being the murderer of Hae Min Lee, an immense amount of verification supports his innocence and refutes the evidence held against him, showing that he is innocent. There were many points to the story of the murder that showed Adnan to be guilty, but through Jay’s inconsistent story, the incorrect and impossible timeline and the alibis, Adnan’s innocence shines through. Jay’s story was very detailed and he did have a lot of evidence that suggest Adnan is guilty. He could prove a lot of things and had an overall long and vivid explanation of the whole day. The timeline was also big part of what put Adnan away in jail. It was very specific and had phone records to back it up. Finally, the 21 minute limit for the murder of Hae is possible and was, for the most part, pretty accurate toward Jay’s story. Despite this, the 21 minutes would be very improbable to reach based on the observations of Sarah Koenig’s experiment to test the drive. Also, another factor that stood out was that there is no proof that the payphone ever existed. Adnan could not have made the call to Jay at 2:36 if there never was a payphone. A clash between Jay’s story and the phone records also support Adnan’s case of innocence. A call to Adnan’s phone was received near Leakin park around 7:00, but Jay claims to have been out with Adnan doing other things away from that location. The alibis to Adnan and Hae are key proofs to Adnan’s innocence, but nothing is certain. It is true that it can not be factually proven that Summer and Asia were telling the truth and that Adnan might have killed Hae after the alibis saw them. However, Adnan and Hae both had trustworthy and solid alibis that refute the State’s timeline and go against what Jay
