A young, adventurous duck loved to swim beyond her tribe’s camp despite their warnings about Mullocka, the water devil. One day, she voyaged father than she’d ever gone and ran into a biggoon that wanted to marry her. When she refused, he threatened to kill her, so she went along with it. The duck was under the impression that her tribe would come fight for her but they all assumed she’d been taken by the Mullocka and did not bother to search for her. She pretended to love him so that she could earn his trust and escape. Eventually, he began to allow her outside without him watching providing a perfect time to escape. She swam as fast as she possibly could and when she arrived back at her camp, she was showered in hugs. From that point on,
the tribe warned ducks to only ever swim upstream. It came time for the young duck to lay her young except that her children did not look like regular ducks. They were banished so the young mother took her children upstream and stayed there, taking care of them, until she died. The new species of animal, called a platypus, breeded and started a new platypode in the mountains.

The Old English story “Yonec”, written by Marie De France portrays how love and symbolism can be displayed through a woman and a bird. “Yonec” is astonishing love story, because the woman was sent a knight to love and cherish her, yet devastating because knight died for their love. The woman in “Yonec” desired to be loved and was distraught that she had been constrained to a tower, and was saddened about her life and spoke of how “knights would find maidens to their liking, noble and beautiful, and ladies found lovers who were handsome and courtly and valiant” (de France 96- 99). Right after that moment of expressing her melancholic feelings, a hawk flew through the window and transformed into a handsome knight whose name was Muldumarec. The
With an increase in industrialization people migrate to the cities for the jobs available. The bosses of these companies were free to do whatever they desired since the government had a laissez-faire policy. This brought many problems since the bosses were corrupt, greedy and cared very little for the well being of their employees. Middle class Protestants who wanted to address and fix the corruption going on in society started to show up in the late nineteenth century, they became known as Progressives.

I chose the death of Matthew Podolak. Matthew suddenly became sick and ended up hospitalized. Furthermore, Matthew began having back spasms and was treated for kidney stones at the local ER. Several weeks after this, Matthew was rushed to the hospital for dizziness and loss of balance where he died soon after. Due to there being lack of evidence of foul play at the time of death, it was ruled “manner undetermined.” Shortly before this, Matthew was diagnosed with depression and was given medications to treat it. He also asked his friends to remove his guns and hunting rifles from the house because he was having thoughts of harming himself. However, there wasn’t enough evidence for the police to investigate it as a homicide.

There are many versions of this tale, but its classic structure is as follows. The moral of the story begins with a mystical half woman half swan swimming or bathing in a body of water with several other swan maidens. They remove their magical robe of feathers and plunge into the water. The robe stands for their animal covering, being her feathers that transform this creature into a swan. Following the plunge, a man, usually a hunter, would take the robe or cloak of the Maiden he found to be the youngest and most pleasing to the eye. When the Swan Maiden would descend out of the water and look for her robe, she would not find it. Suddenly, the man would appear with the garment. The maiden would plead for the garment back, but he would not return it and would force her against her will to marry him, have children, and they would often end up very, “happy”, until one day, the wife would find the precious robe that was hidden from her and proceed to fly away and leave her family, often saying to one of her children, “Tell father that if he wishes to see me again, he must find me in the Land East O’ the Sun and West O’ the Moon” (Ashliman). Some other versions just show her flying away without ...
Malathion is an organophosphate insecticide (NPIC, 2009). This class of insecticides kills insects by disrupting their brains and nervous systems (Rauner, B. 2016). These chemicals, unfortunately, also have the potential to harm the brains and nervous systems of animals and humans. Specifically, these chemicals stop a key enzyme in the nervous system, cholinesterase, from working. While certain classes are more poisonous than others, over all the effects of Malathion depend on the concentration of exposure, length of time, and way the person is exposed. Malathion is also an ingredient in shampoos, regulated by the USDA to control head lice. While the risks and dangers of Malathion sound daunting, the actual research done shows that these are simply potential harms. In fact, Malathion, when used in moderate doses, typically shows a very low level of toxicity. The possible harm caused from Malathion is generally in extreme cases, with exceptional subjects, and in very high levels of exposure. When it comes down to it, Malathion is a perfectly safe to use
A muskrat is known for it’s black-ish brown color but muskrats can also be black, white, silver, and tan. A muskrat also has a long scaly tail, that is almost half its body length, which is 22-25 inches. This scaly tail is the main source of power when swimming. A typical muskrat normally weighs about 1.3-4.4 pounds. They also have slightly webbed feet to help them swim easily. On top of that muskrats have two layers thick fur that almost seems like wool to protect them from cold water. A muskrat has a very compact body, with a small head and small ears to make it easier for them to get around quickly while in water.

The Wild Duck is a play in which reality versus idealism becomes a structural feature. Each scene illustrates this dualism. First Gregers confronts his father, a realist, and accuses him of a life built on lies and deception. The conflict between Gregers and his father reveals a lot about the two. It shows that Gregers is obsessed with the truth and in changing the wrongs of the past. This is shown when he attacks his father’s ability to allow Ekdal to be found solely guilty for crimes in which both men were involved. He also attacks his father for his ulterior motives in having Hialmar and Gina married, for the death of his wife, and for his intended marriage to ...

The girl took great pride in the fact that she helped her father with the chores on the farm. Her main chore was to water the foxes. Laird would help with a small watering can though he would usually spill most of his water. The girl would also help her father when he would cut the long grass around the fox pens. He would cut it and she would rake it up. He would then throw the grass on top of the pens to keep the sun off of the foxes. The entire fox pen was well thought out and well made. The foxes were fed horsemeat, which could be bought very cheap. When a farmer had a dying horse her father would pay for the horse and slaughter it. Her father was very ingenious with his fox farm and the girl was obviously impressed. She was proud to work with her father. One time while her father was talking to a salesman he said, “Like you to meet my new hired man.” That comment made her so happy, only to have the salesman reply that he thought it was only a girl.
