I want to participate in the Mt. Sinai track because I am highly interested in medical research. I have always wanted to learn more about the medical field because it is diverse and could always inspire new interests. The Mt. Sinai track motivated me to apply to HSMSE because I wanted to go to school that would allow me to gain valuable experience in science. This year I participated in the Memorial Sloan Kettering Lunch and Learn sessions and found those lectures to be very exciting. The medical cases that were presented helped me understand more about how Cancer is diagnosed and treated. The x-ray and ultrasound image shown further increased my interest in applying for the program at Mount Sinai Hospital. Furthermore, I applied to a summer program offered by Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai because of my interest in the medical field and my desire to make new connections with professionals. Moreover, the Mt. Sinai track will better prepare me for collage by …show more content…
It can help me further understand the medical field and provide me with insights that will prepare me for my college years and medical school. The Mt. Sinai track will give me the experience of what it’s like to work in the field, which is important because I want to gain the experience of medical research before committing to a pre-med track in College. This program will help me decide if medicine is the right career-choice for me before I spend time and money trying pre-med in college. Even if the Mt. Sinai track does not make me more motivated to work hard to become a medical professional, it will give me a profound sense of whether or not I would like to pursue a career in the medical field. Nevertheless, the Mt. Sinai track will be very interesting for me because it will provide a real look at what life's like as a researcher or medical
IMSA has a great community, which is one of the main reason I am applying. IMSA has great opportunities to forward an interest in the medical and STEM field, which tend to go hand and hand. Not only do I think that the critical thinking and independent research classes will help benefit me and the peers I will work with, I believe that the extracurricular activities at IMSA are what really makes this school stand out. At the school I currently go to, they prioritize sports over most other extracurriculars, with the highest funded club being the debate and speech teams. Even though these clubs are important in building teamwork and leadership abilities, they are very limited in learning about medical and STEM terms. This is why I believe that the clubs at IMSA such as their science olympiad team will help me learn more about the field that I love. By having peers that will constantly challenge me every day, this will make me strive to become better than them and have something to work for.
...ine in their work. Overall, my interest in nuclear medicine is at its peak currently, which is most likely due to my science research project for Intel. My ideas for this particular project were based on my knowledge in nuclear medicine. My research topic, deep-vein thrombosis (a blood-clot in the deep-veins of the body), actually transpired from a list of impending projects that my mentor provided me with when I first started volunteering last year. I worked very hard on this project and I even gained some recognition, but all in all, my reason for participating in Intel competition has to do with my dream of becoming a physician in nuclear medicine in the near future. I hope to successfully finish high school, university, and medical school with a Master’s Degree (MD) before crossing all boundaries and working to attain my Physician’s Degree (PhD) in radiology (nuclear medicine).
...ecause it gave me an opportunity to hear the perspective of other health care professionals that are not in the same field as me. I also got to learn what role each health care professional could contribute to the Triple Aim goal. Also, this experience would make it easier for me to work with other professionals during my course of study and after I graduate because I have been a little exposure to what it is going to be like discussing and trying to figure out ways we can contribute to the Triple Aim goal together as a team.
Presently, my extracurricular and academic interests are combined in my two year Health Science class. The class provides real-life medical situations that I may come in contact with in the future. Like any health science class, we study the body, in both its’ functional and dysfunctional state. This survey class also includes an introduction to equipment, medical protocol, and ethical issues. A sense of teamwork guides our procedures. Next semester, I will study at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Ramstein High School’s Career Practicum program. After initial on-the-job application of classroom learning, we will work with patients, supervised by the hospital staff. Living so close to a hospital that services thousands of seriously injured patients every year provides opportunities that other students lack, even in their college programs.
Due to my pleasurable experiences as an undergraduate at Temple, I explored the TUSM without hesitation as an option for my medical school education. When I investigated the curriculum offered, I was very interested the doctoring course that runs throughout it. I feel that the integration of the curriculum with clinical skills is an critical part of medical education. From my undergraduate years, I know that this is the way I learn, and I believe that I would excel in this course as well as perform better in the basic science blocks. To further pursue my interest in the TUSM, I attended a panel of medical school students inclu...
When Bangarra’s newest production was announced earlier this year, another interpretation of indigenous history did not seem appealing especially more than two centuries years after Wollarawarre Bennelong’s narrative had dusted the early struggles of Aboriginal colonisation. However, in 2017, the historic chronicles of Bennelong’s life have been replenished with a soul and a cast covered with ochre. Stephen Page’s endeavours brings to life the journey of the first Aboriginal man who was assimilated into British culture. The performance emphasises on the indispensable events of Bennelong’s life such as his complicated relationship with governor Arthur Phillip, ostracism from his tribe and ultimately his descent into melancholy madness. However,
I want to be in ASB because I think that this is a great opportunity for me to practice my leadership skills to help all students at Medea Creek. I enjoy helping people and working with others and I know that ASB is a wonderful chance for me to do so. I know that our school should have voices that help others who cannot speak up for themselves and I will help them raise their voices in school. I want to be part of ASB because I think that this can help me mature, and also help achieve my goal for life, which is becoming the president of the U.S. I believe that ASB is a unique opportunity to help me become a game-changer in our school and community. ASB students make changes in their community every day. I think that that is an amazing thing, getting to impact your community every single day.
Moreover, I am in a career pathway. In addition, as I have mentioned before, my dream or goal is to be a part of the medical field as my career. Therefore, in last year, when we were selecting classes for high school, I have decided to
...er research I have learned that great people from within my organization have attended the same program and speaks highly of the program. My supervisor graduated from the same program, and she credits the program for her style of her management and for the strength of her clinical skills. I have recently learned that good friend of mine is currently in the program and has told me that the content you receive from the program is very applicable to the work that we are doing now. Personally the time frame has also greatly influenced my decision as well.
Since TTUHSC provides students with access to a cadaver lab, I will be able to explore the human anatomy in detail and master the physiological concepts of the human body. The MOT program will also require me to gain hands-on experience in fieldwork at a variety of different settings which will strengthen my care and compassion towards patients. Consequently, it is my goal to digest as much information as possible through textbook readings, hands-on learning, and conducting
In regards to my academic and career goals, I plan to attend a four year university and eventually medical school. After medical school, I hope to become an orthopedic surgeon through residency and specialize in sports medicine. My interest in sports medicine has developed through experiences such as observing my father’s ACL surgery, having an operation on a broken hand, and caring for my grandfather who had prostate cancer. I hope to contribute to the world of sports medicine through research, either on treatments for knee ligament tears or supplement breakthroughs. Additionally, this past summer I spent most of my time at the University of Pittsburgh Health Career Scholars Academy, where I was able to explore various science-related health professions through lectures and gain insight on the medical field. These experiences have secured my interest for healthcare and medicine.
I chose this project because when I grow up I want to become a nurse, so volunteering at OVMC was a great opportunity. There was a health fair last year at the school; I met these two nice women that asked me I would like to volunteer at the hospital, and I told them I would love too. When my family and I talked about it, we all seemed like we were on the same page about it and then we filled them out and sent them in the mail the next morning. I got a call a couple of days later to come in for an interview. Another reason I chose to do this project is because I needed to reach my amount of hours for HSTA. Halfway through the summer break, I reached my hours that I had left to do, but I loved volunteering there. I still had next summer and the school year to complete my hours; I had so much fun going there!
My interests in the STEP programs lies within the fact that it will aid me in achieving a full ride to college. Throughout my whole life, I have been blessed with many amazing things that my parents have worked hard for. By being able to receive a full scholarships, it will be my way of thanking my parents for what they have done for me throughout my whole life. As a result, if I am not able to achieve a full ride scholarship, it would be a huge disappointment. By being apart of the program, I hope to gain knowledge about the steps required to improve my chances of going to a good college and information that will help me become a better human being. In addition, while I am there, I would like to acquire new friends that will hopefully be apart of my life in the future.
...forming bench research at Barry University and Weill Cornell Medical College in the Traveler’s Research Fellowship, I have been exposed to the side of medicine where scientists work every day to find cures for diseases and save lives. Experiencing different aspects of medicine has made me a more competent individual to thrive in this field and has deepened my interest and passion to pursue medicine as a career.I believe that those who fight with so little against so much truly need others to help them in their struggle. Being a physician is not only becoming a successful professional. I will work hard to bring about necessary changes to end social disparities, so that more groups in society receive the best healthcare. By making a difference in their lives, I will receive rewarding experiences that are worth all the hard work and sacrifice my chosen career requires.
They have allowed me to experience the environment and given me a measure of what I will have to combat and accomplish in this field. I have learned so much about medicine and the different methods that they actually use in the field. I have been able to see how doctors work in their actual field and the impact that they have made upon their patients. This has given me more determination to work harder and the conviction that I can help many people as a doctor. I will be able to work hard to accomplish my ambitions and use this knowledge I have gained to help me on the way to becoming a
