Immigrants can expect a great deal from the people and the country to which they move. Likewise, the host countries have expectations from the immigrants as well. What this means is that when immigrants move to a new country, they should expect a complete change in the way of life in that particular country. As to expectations of the people, the immigrants should expect a totally different adjustment. From the people, immigrants should expect judgment, criticism, and for commoners to think that they are weird, crazy, and the odd ones in a group. Host countries can expect immigrants to bring a piece-of-home with them. For instance, their cultures, languages, traditions, and as previously mentioned a piece-of-home. Bittering’s lips. ‘lorrt. lorrt.’” (Bradbury 485). He continued repeating it. It was a martian word! This represents a real life immigration when moving to a new country. When moving as an immigrant, the new country will have a different language, meaning the presence of need to adapt to this new language. Otherwise, there would be no way of success. This not only represents a change in language, but it also represents a change within oneself. The people also have a big part in this as the people would not respect the immigrants as much if they didn't speak the language the country owns. This is what we see happening in the book. In a different part of the book, Mr. Bittering had a tree imported to be planted on Mars, “a peach tree he had imported as a sapling from Massachusetts” (Bradbury 482). This shows what host countries should expect from immigrants - actions taken to make themselves feel like home. Furthermore, this tree that Mr. Bittering had imported, from his perspective, represents a piece-of-home. In addition, immigrants take similar actions in order to represent their culture, languages, and traditions. Going past this, many people might argue with my opinion having another opinion opposite of
Immigrants go through a process called Americanization. This process introduces new beliefs that make immigrants reject
In America, it is a common misconception that all foreigners are similar; it is believed that they all have similar dreams and each of them end up chasing after the same jobs. However, this is not the case. Not only do immigrants from different countries hold different dreams, but those with a shared background even have varying hopes and dreams for the future. This is evidenced in Bharati Mukherjee’s essay, “Two Ways to Belong in America.” She utilizes several rhetorical strategies in order to show that immigrants have the ability to be assimilated into the American culture, but that they should not be deported if they choose not to conform to said culture.

...e welfare of its citizens. They argue that a country’s acceptance of immigrants is an unnecessary burden to the host country since it detracts the government of its duty to the natural-born citizens.
Immigrants leave their countries in search for a better life and improvement of their situation. There is no singular reason for immigration; motivations range from better economic prospects to political safety. As of late, the number of immigrants living in the United States is an estimated 11 million. Those who immigrate are expected to contribute to the United States culturally, politically, and economically. Yet, full assimilation becomes difficult to achieve when the immigrant is made into “the other” by the country of reception.
One element that greatly affects an immigrant’s experience in a new country is how they are viewed and treated by the people of that country. In the article President Obama: “Immigrants and Refugees Revitalize and Renew America”, President Obama is giving a speech at a naturalization ceremony in Washington, DC. He is welcoming new citizens from many different countries. Immigration being a popular topic in America today, President Obama brought some good points about it to our attention. In the speech, President

Moving to a different country at a young age can be a challenge, especially when most of my friends and family are not coming with me. I moved to the United States when I was eight years old. When I landed in Michigan in 2006, everything was new to me, the culture, the language, and the people. Coming to America was cultural shock to my system.
When it comes to immigration many things comes to a person mind. There are many things that an immigrant faces when he/she decides to migrate to another country. For instance, for an immigrant moving is not an easy thing to do they will have to leave everything behind and start over again in a whole different country than their own native country. At first is going to be hard because they do not know anyone, they do not speak the language. The parents will have to look for a house and also look for a job to support their family and learn how to survive in what seems like a different world. These are some of the problems that immigrants face when coming to the United States.
Many presidents, advocates, protesters, and government officials have tried to tackle the immense controversy that surrounds immigrant families, but they have failed to address the numerous stereotypes that linger within the shadows of immigration. There is an aspect of shame and humility, which follows immigrant families and their parents, but the aspect of honor and pride that is attached to immigrant families and parents received far less attention. Thus, this paper takes an alternative approach to study the various advantages and disadvantages that are associated with immigrant parents. The world at large has seen an influx of people migrating to various countries in the pursuit of life, liberty, and quest of happiness. No other country in the migrating world has seen a large influx like
They are also considered as for who left their lands to come and join the New World. An example that the speech relating to that point is “We take satisfaction in the thought that those who have left their native land to join us may still Retain and have their Affection.” This quote is saying that the people that leave it all and give it all in the New World are actually considered and give affection to
Millions of people around the globe immigrate into different countries every year. For some people, moving to a new place can be about taking on a different career opportunity, following a love interest, or reuniting with family. While for others, immigration is necessary to survive. It is not a simple choice, but rather a struggle to escape the horrors in their own country. There are numerous nations that welcome immigrants and refugees with open arms, but many do not. Picking up your life and traveling to a new country is hard even in the most accepting of places. For example, in the US, there are varieties of cultures and people from all over the world, making it one of the most desirable places for immigrants. Yet, even still, Americans can be unwelcoming and rude to outsiders. One of the largest populations of immigrants is in France, with around 7.4 million foreign-born people living there in 2010. Despite this large number, the French culture is one of the most nationalistic in the world, which can sometimes come off as hostile to newcomers. The history and development of French immigration policies is full of stubbornness and errors. Even now, the country’s unwillingness to allow new cultures to flourish in their home is becoming a large issue for the masses of immigrants that reside in France.
Immigration is a controversial topic that features conflicting opinions on a global scale. This is because skeptics believe that immigrants are taking away the original culture and traditions of individual societies, whereas, those supporting immigration believe that immigrants in fact enrich the culture of the host countries and provide great benefits to the country overall. This ongoing debate regarding immigration has led to the increased difficulty in gaining national citizenship in some countries, such as Saudi Arabia. Other countries, however, welcome immigrants as they believe foreigners are valuable to society. Immigration around the world should be encouraged as immigrants increase diversity, add to the amount of skills and labor opportunities available to the countries they move to, and improve the economy.
As A New Pair Of Shoes: L.A The famous Indian author, Tahir Shah, once said, ’“Settling into a new country is like getting used to a new pair of shoes. At first they pinch a little, but you like the way they look, so you carry on.” His words made a lot of sense to me as I thought about moving another country, which was really far away from my hometown and having a different culture. There were a lot of positive and negative things that I needed to come up with to adapt a different country. In other words, moving to Los Angeles was exciting but also a tough process, such as being familiar with the traffic and etiquette rules, for me.
