Immigrants can expect a great deal from the people and the country to which they move. Likewise, the host countries have expectations from the immigrants as well. What this means is that when immigrants move to a new country, they should expect a complete change in the way of life in that particular country. As to expectations of the people, the immigrants should expect a totally different adjustment. From the people, immigrants should expect judgment, criticism, and for commoners to think that they are weird, crazy, and the odd ones in a group. When moving as an immigrant, the new country will have a different language, meaning the presence of need to adapt to this new language. Otherwise, there would be no way of success. This not only represents a change in language, but it also represents a change within oneself. The people also have a big part in this as the people would not respect the immigrants as much if they didn't speak the language the country owns. This is what we see happening in the book. In a different part of the book, Mr. Bittering had a tree imported to be planted on Mars, “a peach tree he had imported as a sapling from Massachusetts” (Bradbury 482). This shows what host countries should expect from immigrants - actions taken to make themselves feel like home. Furthermore, this tree that Mr. Bittering had imported, from his perspective, represents a piece-of-home. In addition, immigrants take similar actions in order to represent their culture, languages, and traditions.
