Modern cars and motorcycles are both by definition automobiles. An automobile is defined as a type of transportation mainly used to get the person to their destination rather than goods, it has its own engine and can carry from one to eight passengers but only to be used on the road and can have from two to four wheels.
They can also differ from each other y the comfort in the vehicle and also the safety of the driver, but mainly the price range between a motorcycle and an automobile. Usually for someone who isn’t trying to waste a huge amount of money on a vehicle can get a motorcycle for themselves.
In 1884 the very first experimental motorcycle was a three wheeled bicycle called Butler Petrol Cycle which was built by Edward Butler in England, and was the first motorcycle designed in 1885 at the International Inventions Exhibition in London along with Karl Benz who designed and created the first automobile. The image of a self-propelled vehicle dates back around the early thirteenth century. Europe is the birthplace of the automobile, but it was adopted by America. Roger Bacon had a vision of cars being made without animals so they can be at astonishing speeds and maneuverability . About three hundreds years later, Leonardo Da Vinci rejuvenate Bacon's idea with hopes of creating a military vehicle. His idea was transformed into the modern day tank. The first step in making a self-propelled vehicle was taken by Nicholas Joseph Cugnot. He was an eighteenth century French artillery officer. "In 1769 he built and ran a three-wheeled carriage mounting a steam engine of his own design, with the idea that it might be used for pulling guns"2. It was very clumsy vehicle that was shot into the air when it reached the top speed of three miles an hour. Cugnot's vehicle provided almost no improvement of the horse. In the early years of the nineteenth century an American and British duo had began an automotive experiment. Richard Trevithick, a British engineer, and American genius, Oliver Evans created a workable but crude vehicle propelled by steam3. This early experiment was an improvement, but the railroads and stagecoach companies joined together. With this new combining of forces the new steam vehicle, the Orkuter Amphibolos, was brought down.
In the July 1997 issue of Commentary, James Q. Wilson challenges the consensus among academia’s finest regarding the automobile in his bold article, Cars and Their Enemies. Directed towards the general public, his article discredits many of the supposed negatives of the automobile raised by experts, proves that the personal car is thriving and will continue to thrive because it meets individual preference over other means of transportation, as well as presents solutions to the social costs of cars. Wilson emphasizes that no matter what is said and done in eliminating the social costs of the automobile, experts are not going to stop campaigning against it.
Obsessed with improving his invention, Harley began working on a design for a two-cylinder engine. After a false start in 1907, he perfected the model in 1909. The new engine, called a V-Twin, could propel a motorcycle at a lightning speed of 60 mph. thanks to the success of the V-twin, the company quickly developed a reputation for building reliable, fast motorcycles and by 1910, annual production rose to 3,200 machines.

Here starts the tale of how a (LEGEND) came to be. In 1903 William Harley along with Arthur and Walter Davidson of Milwaukee,WI began experimenting with an internal combustion engine in a small wooden shed, amazingly the shed doesn’t burn down and the motorcycle that was built in it goes over 100,000 miles under 5 owners. And that was just the beginning, soon after that first bike being built; it began to happen. A cheap reliable form of transportation was needed in the country. Henry Ford’s automobiles were a little expensive for the average family. So a niche opens up for the motorcycle. Though there was no cutting- edge technology in their design, it worked. The trio had just brought a single cylinder engine (based on a DeDion design) and tube type bicycle frame together. Painted in gloss black, that first machine was admired by friends and family - now it gets interesting.

Automobile safety has come a long way over the years and as every day goes by more and more new ways are created to keep drivers, and their passengers, safe on the road.
The consequences of severe motorcycle accidents are Traumatic Brain Injury, Spinal cord injury, and broken bones. In addition, many motorcyclists who go through an accident lose a limb, and some become partially paralyzed. This particular trauma tends to allow motorcyclist to get back on motorcycles and act recklessly, some never recover and never get back on. Some tend to feel shamed and convicted whenever someone speaks of their situation. Many individuals suffer from medical bills, loss wages, insurance rates grow higher and the brain functions are sometimes not the same. For example, from my personal experience a medical bill for a fractured ulna, broken femur, and a broken tibia and fibula costed five hundred thousand dollars. The hospitals know that an individual without insurance could never repay that debt and they sink even lower in debt because of it. Through much of my brothers perseverance, and a whole bunch of luck, the bike began to runfirst on one cylinder, then on both. I remember when Mike first got it running my dad and I looked on as he took the first ride around the yard; Im not sure if Mike knew it ahead of time or not, but the bike didnt have a functioning clutch. We soon discovered that rolling the motorcycle down a hill and then dropping it into gear wasnt too violent and was certainly good enough for the time being. Soon after, my dad and I were both allowed to ride; I think we both realized that if Mikes bike had been such a success on such little money (free, plus a few necessary parts) there were motorcycles in both of our futures.
