It is obvious as to why Allstate would identify motorcycle insurance as a worthy lifestyle product to devote marketing research dollars into in order to develop new strategies for cornering a share of the market.
In society today, it is not uncommon to be surrounded by gangs in our communities. I have recently learned that in my area, we have a local gang known as the Peckerwoods. The Peckerwoods are an Outlaw Motorcycle Club notorious for their hatred towards minorities and earning their income from a variety of illegal practices. In the beginning, when assigned to write about a local gang, I had no idea there were any gangs in my neighborhood so I found this to be intriguing. For this assignment, I was actually able to meet a member of the motorcycle club that allowed me to ask a few questions, and went by the alias “Eddy”. I tried to limit my questions because I did not want to cross any lines. I decided to conduct this interview because he seemed approachable and looked as though he had been involved with the club for a number of years so I decided to take a shot and ask him. He turned out to be a very friendly gentleman, which in my perspective is what these members aim for when creating an image for the public. Below is a summary of my interview conducted with the member:

With the introduction of the new VRSC’S, and the new lowered sporster 833 L and the 1200 L, design for small riders who want more power, also promoting the already existing HD motorcycle owners to step forward and purchasing a bigger model. HD is in a position of attaining a sizeable share in the first time motorcycle owners, the young males, and females’ marketplace. To target the women and the young market with the new product line, the company has adopted the following marketing objectives: to expand its current market (market expansion), diversify its product line (product diversification), and modify its marketing mix to target women and the younger demographic.

Despite their conception in 1903, Harley-Davidson and the motorcycle industry as a whole didn’t really take off until after the Second World War. Many people rode motorcycles during the war, with Harley-Davidson themselves supplying almost 90,000 motorcycles for the U.S. military during this time. Many veterans chose to purchase motorcycles upon returning home, as they enjoyed riding during the war and wanted to continue riding in their civilian life. This film helped change the public’s perception of bikers and sparked an increase in motorcycle demand which has lasted to this day.
The consequences of severe motorcycle accidents are Traumatic Brain Injury, Spinal cord injury, and broken bones. In addition, many motorcyclists who go through an accident lose a limb, and some become partially paralyzed. This particular trauma tends to allow motorcyclist to get back on motorcycles and act recklessly, some never recover and never get back on. Some tend to feel shamed and convicted whenever someone speaks of their situation. Many individuals suffer from medical bills, loss wages, insurance rates grow higher and the brain functions are sometimes not the same. For example, from my personal experience a medical bill for a fractured ulna, broken femur, and a broken tibia and fibula costed five hundred thousand dollars. The hospitals know that an individual without insurance could never repay that debt and they sink even lower in debt because of it.
