Motorcycle is also called motorbike is a two or thee wheeled vehicle powered by a petrol, diesel, engine mounted midway between the front and rear wheels. The motorcycle, which is having much heavier and stronger, frame than that of a bicycle. The motorcycle is developed from the bicycle. The people for their convenient and smooth travel for the recreation and sports purpose use the motorcycles. The motorbikes are used throughout the world, the police and the fire department use motorcycles to carry medical personnel to accident scenes. Before the 20yrs ago a motocycle was carried for the noise, dirt and frequent breakdown which the use of its entailed. It was then truly a sportsman’s machine and of little use in the commercial field. …show more content…
he attached a four stoke piston engine to a wooden bicycle frame. For the next few year motorcycle remained larger experimental. During the early 1900’s with continual improvement they developed into useful vehicles. Today motorcycles have the same general appearance as easier models. But modern bike are earlier to handle and they have storage frames, more power engine are more efficient. Solo machines were available with engine varying in size from 147cc to 1000cc capacity with corresponding nominal rating of 0.5 hp to 18 hp. The smallest class which comprised machines such as the Francis Braneth, the Excelsior and other too numerous to mention is intended chiefly for use on short journey. And its maximum speed was 40 m.p.h. Motorbikes are of both two strokes type are Velocelle, Lenis, Enfield and many others with two-stroke
Needless to say, that experience has changed over time. It began from a simplistic design in 1904 as a motorized bike. However, as time progressed it brought about the introduction of the biker gang era. These were the bad asses image riding their heavy bikes down the highway, rebels who refused to give in to society’s pressures. It was the time of the Hell’s Angels, with their patches, long hair, and untidy beards that became the symbol of freedom on the road. They created the mantra of the bad ass dude on a bad ass American bike and no one was gonna tell him what to
When it comes to gas powered RC helicopters, there are basically two different motor designs that power these choppers. The first is the traditional 2-stroke gasoline motor that uses a regular gas and oil mixture to fuel the motor. These choppers offer the most realistic performance possible in a RC helicopter because they recreate the performance characteristics of a full-size chopper. They also are capable of doing daredevil stunts and amazing aerobatic maneuvers. However, gasoline fueled helicopters are not easy to control, so you must be careful when you are first learning how to fly them.
New technology is arriving every day. The greatest invention during this time was the steam engine. The creation of the steam engine was credited to James Watt. There had been other steam engines before James Watt’s, but none of them were efficient. Watt’s engine was the first efficient engine that could be used in a factory.
Here starts the tale of how a (LEGEND) came to be. In 1903 William Harley along with Arthur and Walter Davidson of Milwaukee,WI began experimenting with an internal combustion engine in a small wooden shed, amazingly the shed doesn’t burn down and the motorcycle that was built in it goes over 100,000 miles under 5 owners. And that was just the beginning, soon after that first bike being built; it began to happen. A cheap reliable form of transportation was needed in the country. Henry Ford’s automobiles were a little expensive for the average family. So a niche opens up for the motorcycle. Though there was no cutting- edge technology in their design, it worked. The trio had just brought a single cylinder engine (based on a DeDion design) and tube type bicycle frame together. Painted in gloss black, that first machine was admired by friends and family - now it gets interesting.
...late 17th century, and beginning of the 18th century, transportation was favored by American society so much, the wealthier would hire chauffer’s to take people places. So not only did the motor produce a better and more efficient life style, it also created a huge business industry, as we know it today called, “valeting”. The actual motor worked like this. “Two cups filled with mercury would contain a magnet and a wire with one being fixed and the other free to move. Whenever a current was passed through the wire, the free moving magnet or wire would revolve around its fixed partner due to the electromagnet forces being produced.” (History of Innovation). This first motor was a prime example of the fact that movement could be created by electricity and electricity could be created by friction. This motor was the most useful and applicable invention in the 1800’s.
Harley-Davidson was founded in 1903 by four men in a wooden shed experimenting with the internal combustion engine. By the beginning of the'60s, HD had practically wiped out all of its domestic competitors. Its motorcycles were used by nearly every police department in America. This was soon to change.
HD has chosen the strategic direction of targeting women and the younger market that is technologically conscious in order to increase its share in the first time motorcycle owner market space. With the introduction of the new VRSC’S, and the new lowered sporster 833 L and the 1200 L, design for small riders who want more power, also promoting the already existing HD motorcycle owners to step forward and purchasing a bigger model. HD is in a position of attaining a sizeable share in the first time motorcycle owners, the young males, and females’ marketplace. To target the women and the young market with the new product line, the company has adopted the following marketing objectives: to expand its current market (market expansion), diversify its product line (product diversification), and modify its marketing mix to target women and the younger demographic.
Piaggio is the European leader for motor scooters, with a market share just over 50 percent. Annual production of Piaggio motor scooters exceeds 850,000 vehicles. Looking at some statistics referred to the first four months of 2007, an increase of + 10,7% has been registered with compare to 2006. Especially the scooter market is showing a drastic increase in numbers of new matriculated vehicles; during year 2006 62.1% of the totals were scooters.
Before the advent of the automobile, buggies were typically propelled by one or more horses. Even with the first automobiles there was a need for a drive system, though, since those horses were no longer there. One thing that has remained common to every car is a motor and transmission system of some sort, but what varies greatly between cars is what is between the transmission and the wheels, also known as the drive train. There are many different styles of drive trains, each with their own advantages and disadvantages.
Harley-Davidson, Inc. has a long-standing culture of relationship nurturing with its customers – of association with its customers on personal levels. Owing to this, customers look at Harley-Davidson as not only a company, but as also a family to whom they owe their loyalty. Harley-Davidson is an example of a company which has a loyal (brand) following and its customers aid in future sales via marketing based on the consumer. The company has been doing business since 1903; according to its website, “Four young men experimented with internal combustion in a tiny wooden shed. Not only did the shed not burn, but the motorcycle they built went on to serve over 100,000 miles” (Harley Davidson, n.d., p.1). William S. Harley in 1901 came up with a blueprint of a motor for fitting a bicycle. Arthur Davidson later joined him, and they then built the 1st Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
We think it would be interesting to quote first Harley-Davidson's mission, in order to get a first approach of what is the purpose of the company from their point of view. The mission talks first about dreams, rather than motorcycles, which is what the public has in mind. This mission says:
An electric motor is a device used to convert electric energy into rotational kinetic energy. There are two different types of electric motors, and each has there own use. The different types are direct current and alternating current motors. Each of these motors will be analyzed in the following.
Harley Davidson purpose is to fulfill dreams of personal freedom (www.harley-davidson.com). Customers are able to enjoy the freedom of the road where they are able to feel the thrill and excitement of riding a motorcycle. This allows customers to be their self and experience life to the fullest.
Through much of my brothers perseverance, and a whole bunch of luck, the bike began to runfirst on one cylinder, then on both. I remember when Mike first got it running my dad and I looked on as he took the first ride around the yard; Im not sure if Mike knew it ahead of time or not, but the bike didnt have a functioning clutch. We soon discovered that rolling the motorcycle down a hill and then dropping it into gear wasnt too violent and was certainly good enough for the time being. Soon after, my dad and I were both allowed to ride; I think we both realized that if Mikes bike had been such a success on such little money (free, plus a few necessary parts) there were motorcycles in both of our futures.
Recumbent tricycles are three-wheeled cycles that allow the rider to be in a reclined position while on the move. The pedals are usually at the front (attached to the front wheel) and not by the side. Unlike other common upright bicycles or tricycles, it allows one's weight to be evenly distributed in areas other than the back and buttocks making it more comfortable than its counterpart.
