Motivation and motivational leadership
What is motivation and how can the sense of motivation modulate your existence for the top.
You all desire to be motivated but do you know what motivation is properly. The dictionary defines motivation this way:
"Motivation: The psychological feature that arouses an organism to action towards a desired goal, the reason for that action.”
Replace "organism" with "a human being" and you start to understand it. A modulation of the definition is that we want to have a reason beyond our actions to attain our goals.
Achieving what you want in life means getting motivated. Inspirations along with perspiration are key ingredients in making you a success.
People vary not only in their capability to do but also in their “volition to do”, or motivation. The motivation of people relies on the forces of their motives and these motives are sometimes set as needs, wants, drives, and impulses within the person. Motives are directed toward goals, which may be aware or subconscious; therefore motives are the “reasons” of behavior.
Motivation impacts the type of modulate employees make to an organization and output are affected by the specific motives employees have for working at an exceptional place on a particular job. In much esteem, the job of management is the effective channeling of employee motives across organizational goals.
The content theories of Maslow, McClelland and Herzberg provide managers with an understanding of the particular work-related factors that start the motivational process. However, these theories provide little understanding of why people choose a particular behavior to accomplish work-related goals. This choice aspect is the major focus of process theories.

Realism: Seeing the world as it really is, not as he wishes it were. One should be realistic when assessing a situation so he/she does not sound irrational.
Responsibility: A leader must always take responsibility for his actions and correct his mistakes.

Leaders have to set goals to keep their group working on something, but the goals must be smart.
A leader should always learn from their Failures.
A true leader should Accept Responsibility for not only their actions, but the actions of their group.
A leader should Provide Direction for the group in order to complete tasks in a satisfactionary manner.
motivation is a behavior that makes people want to struggle all the time until he or she achieved the things that they all wanted. motivation can be divided into two ways, intrinsic and extrinsic. the intrinsic one usually comes from his or her desire and this method is really proven that it can possibly achieved if this intrinsic method is used because we do not need to rely on people around like friends mostly. the extrinsic one is the reversal from the intrinsic that we rely on the people who taught us to be motivated and this method quite or often proven or succeed because human also need a help each other.
“Without leaders, things drift along”. They go where they want to go, following the path of least resistance. A leader’s job is to overcome this resistance and make the things flow in a different direction.
What is motivation? According to text, motivation is defined as a set of factors that activate, direct, and maintain behavior, usually toward a certain goal. Motivation is the energy that makes us do things: this is a result of our individual needs being satisfied so that we have inspiration to complete the mission. These needs vary from person to person as everybody has their individual needs to motivate themselves. Depending on how motivated we are, it may further determine the effort we put into our work and therefore increase the standard of the productivity. There have been a wide variety of theories about motivation developed over the years. Several are drive-reduction theory, arousal theory, psychosocial (both incentive and cognitive) theory, and Maslow’s H...
Motivation refers to a process within a person that influences them to move toward a goal and away from unpleasant situations (Kosslyn & Rosenberg, 2010). Humans are motivated by many different sources such as biological factors – the need for food, water or sex, emotional factors – panic, love or hatred which can influence behavior, cognitive behaviors – an individual’s perceptions of the world, beliefs about themselves and expectations about others, social factors – reactions from family, friends and other sociocultural forces like social media and lastly, intrinsic and extrinsic factors (Kosslyn & Rosenberg, 2010). Prominent theories of motivation such as Clark Hull’s Drive reduction theory, Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and Incentive
According to Greenberg (1999) motivation is defined "as a process of arousing, directing and maintaining behaviour towards a goal." Where directing' refers to the selection of a particular behaviour; and maintenance' refers to the inclination to behave with consistency in that manner until the desired outcome is met.
So a leader is the one who leads the whole group . So is the one who has to come always with new ideas and accept the others` ideas too . A leader must ‘exhibit positive energy’ as to make the group show passion for completing a task . Leaders need always to take the first step as to show to the rest the way something needs to be done and in this way to encourage them (Caroselli,2000 p.4 ). They also need to feel proud of the achievement of a goal and show to their employees that their work was worthwhile . (p.7)
There are many ways in which motivation can be defined. Generally speaking, motivation comprises an individual’s effort, persistence and the direction of that effort. In simple terms, it is the will to perform. (Brooks, I, 2006). Eugene Mckenna thinks that with motivation, people respond to conditions operating within and outside themselves, and go the extra mile at their role. To motivate people, elements such as needs, motives, drives and goals or incentives of individuals have to be looked at.(Mckenna, E, 2000).
Motivation is an important concept which is critical for understanding of and improvement in organizational behaviour and performance. It is therefore important for the managers to understand motivation. It is an important tool which they can use to get more out of their employees and increase organizational performance. Motivation can be defined as the factors, both internal as well as external which arouse in individuals the desire and commitment for a job (Mele, 2005, p. 15). Organizational performance on the other hand refers to the degree to which the organizational objectives have been achieved.
Motivation is the reason or purpose behind action, or what causes one to act in a particular manner. Motivation can either be intrinsic or extrinsic in nature, yet it rests solely within the power of the individual actor to be motivated (or not) by intrinsic and extrinsic motivators. Motivation is an extremely important topic of discussion in the larger discourse on leadership. It is important because it provides the basis for human action, or inaction. Leaders must be able to understand what motivates their followers in a hope to use that knowledge to guide them to behave in a certain way that is beneficial for the organization. To do so, it behooves leaders to understand the basic concepts and theories of motivation that abound.
Most of people in this world is a leader, only the matter how big the institutions we lead and how we lead other people to success for example we may be a managers, coaches, or even world leaders. A leader has many categories of definition but from the source of “Principles of Management notes”, a leader is someone who can influence others to achieve goals and someone who has managerial authority. While from the “Business Dictionary blog”, leader bring the meaning of a person that holds a main or superior position within its field, and is able to put into effect a high level of control over others. Besides that, a leader also is a person who has a vision and a commitment to achieve that vision together with the skills to make it happen. It expresses the leader’s ambitions for the organization and also for itself. Referring to whitestag.org website, a leader is a person who has a vision, a guts and a commitment to achieve the vision, and the skills to make it a reality. For example an employee able to follow orders from the employers which believe has the credibility as a leader, similar to people who obey to their president. Leadership is a common process of motivating individuals and gather up resources in pursuit of goals shared by members of a group, organization or even community.
Effective leadership is one of the most valuable assets to the organization . A leader can be said as the head of the group or representative of the group. Therefore, all the groups do need leaders. An effective leader plays the important roles in family, organization, society, and country because most people live much of their lives in , Without an effective leader, the group will not achieve the goals that they set. However, being a leader is not a simple obligation to everyone. The concern now is how to be an effective leader? An effective leader should delegate wisely, acquire good communication skill, and set goals for their organization .
There are many different ways of interpretation of the concept of motivation. To define motivation in general I relied on Oxford Dictionary (2017): “A reason or
According to Greenberg (1999), motivation is defined “as a process of arousing, directing and maintaining behavior towards a goal.” Where “directing” refers to the selection of a particular behavior; and ‘maintenance” refers to the inclination to behave with consistency in that manner until the desired outcome is met.
¡§Motivation¡¨ derives from the Latin verb ¡§movere¡¨ which means ¡§to move¡¨. Beck (2004, p.3) defined Motivation as an internal state which is the driving force that activates behaviour or gives directions to thoughts, feelings and actions of an organism.
Before going into different forms of motivation it’s important to understand the history of the word motivation. Motivation is derived from the latin word movere which means to move. When you think about it, this makes complete sense because motivation is what makes us do what we do. Motivation is what keeps us moving forward towards bigger and better things without the feeling of motivation our world would not be the way it is today. Without it, Benjamin Franklin probably wouldn’t have discovered electricity, Christopher Columbus wouldn’t have discovered America, and the entire world as we know it would be completely different to how it is today.
