World population does not compromise on health issues. Basically perfect health is one of the primary needs of human being and he wants health, wealth and prosperity at a time without any disastrous effect especially on health. Nature fulfills all the vital requirements of human being either in healthy or diseased condition but just need to explore it in time. Moringa oleifera is one of the precious gift of nature to man. It is the member of family Moringaceae, commonly known as ‘sahajan’, Horse radish (portray of its root taste) or drumstick tree (illustrating shape of pods). In Senegal, it is commonly known as "Nebeday" most probably meaning is "never die" because it has ability to survive even in a prolonged period of scanty rainfall (drought) condition and can grow from seed or cutting as well as it has power to rejuvenate itself. It is also called "Miracle tree" or "wonder tree"(Fuglie, 2001). In the Philippines it is most commonly called as “mother's best friend" and "malunggay" because mothers give its cooked leaves to their babies for nutritional purpose(Price and L, 1985). It is mostly present in tropics but native of the western and sub-Himalayan tracts of Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Asia Minor, Africa and India (Kumar et al., 2010, Makkar and Becker, 1997). It has valuable medicinal and nutritional value and important member of nature’s pharmacy. Ancient king and queen used Moringa oleifera in their diet for mental alertness and healthy skin since 150B.C (Mahmood et al., 2010). It is present in the list of neutraceuticals(Karim and Azlan, 2012). Its young leaves, pods, flower as well as roots are edible mostly in Asia(Ferreira et al., 2008).

NUTRITIONAL VALUE
Malnutrition is basic problem in infants and nursing mothers. Moringa oleifera has acquired a significant place in different tropics to combat malnutrition and it has been given a specific name “natural nutrition for the tropics” by three private organizations ;Trees for Life, Church World Service and Educational Concerns for Hunger Organization, because in tropics most of the time in a year there is drought and a no of trees lose their nutritional contents but Moringa oleifera has ability to tolerate droughtness so people use it for food purpose mostly in dry season(Fahey, 2005).
Analysis of Moringa pods, fresh (raw) leaves and dried leaf powder has shown them to contain the following per 100 grams of edible portion.
Figure 3 shows a dramatic decrease in bud formation of approximately 20 percent from four to eight seed plantings, followed by slight decreases of 3 percent of less in bud formation as significantly greater quantities of seeds are planted.
World hunger is a very important epidemic because of the risks or implications it imposes on the rest of the world. Juveniles are the utmost apparent victims of under-nutrition. 2.6 million children die as a result of hunger-related causes each year. 66 million school-aged children go to classes hungry across the developing world, with 23 million in Africa alone. One in four of the world's youth are kept from growing due to malnutrition. In developing countries the proportion can rise to one in three. A strong maternal-infant bond provided through psychosocial stimulation is essential for positive child development. The formation of this bond at the beginning of life is an essential step that sets the stage for cognitive, emotional, and social development later in life. Feeding and other care practices provide opportunities for psychosocial stimulation and help to establish a positive attachment between caregiver and child.(WHO) Under-nutrition magnifies the effect of every disease, such as measles, diarrhea and malaria. Asia has the largest number of hungry people (over 500 million) however S...
Traditional African medicines, and the spiritual healers that administer these medicines are an important part of African society. For many centuries and even millenniums these healers with there spiritual and naturalistic remedies have been responsible for taking care of the African world as we know it. Traditional African medicines have been a greater help to all of society and modern science, but still lie at the root of much controversy over its ability to be a valid healing tool. Some doctor’s and scientist believe that a possible placebo effect may be the root of what makes these remedies and rituals work; but there is also evidence that suggest that many of the ingredients found in our medicines today are also found in the natural animal and plant products used by the healers. In fact many pharmaceutical companies have recently been looking at the content of these natural substances in hope of finding chemical compounds that can help modern science in producing modern medicines to cure disease. Despite modern day societies use of the healers remedies in modern medicine, there still seems to be some confusion as to who the healer really is and what their motives are. Many people using naïve thought process perceive the healer as one practicing witchcraft. This may be due to the disbelief that natural substances are capable of healing, or the belief that ritualistic and spiritualistic ceremonies and practices stem from evil or voodoo. Despite all of this opposition and change into a more scientific world, the healer remains as one of the most sought after people in the African world, and even in large African cities were western heal...

...mary example of a plant that has been used throughout history for multiple purposes. It was initially a plant that was only of importance to the Native peoples of the Americas. What was once considered a plant that was only useful in tribal folklore and ritualistic practices, is now being considered very valuable in the modern world. Current inquiries and research into natural alternatives to the many chemicals utilized in the modern food and drug industries is shining a light on the effectiveness and the many potential uses of B. Orellana. Its uses have expanded from its original intended purposes to an array of purposes because of its valuable properties. Although at this current point, more research is needed on B. Orellana to enhance its effectiveness and successfully implement it into more foods and medicines, the possibilities this plant presents are promising.
Herbal remedies’ qualities are widespread availability, lower cost, effective for chronic conditions. Herbal remedies are the use of plants or plant extract to treat a person’ overall health. Herbal treatments are prominent for developing countries for instance, “in Africa up to 90% and in India 70% of the population depend on traditional medicine to help meet their health care needs” (Wachtel-Galor & Benzie, 2011), due to their low cost and availability. Herbal remedies have gained attention in the past decades, and expanding their uses due to the increased interest of natural therapies (Wachtel-Galor & Benzie, 2011). Herbs used on the remedies grow in the wild throughout the world, therefore making it easy to
Durian is the fruit of several tree species belonging to genus Durio and the family Malvaceae. The name durian comes from the Indonesia and Malaysian word duri (thorn) together with the suffix -an (for building a noun in Indonesia and Malaysia). It is one of the most famous and controversial fruits in the world and highly valued and desired throughout South-East Asia. Although considered as delicacy by many, it also received its fame because of its unique and indescribable odour. Durian is the ‘King of Tropical Fruit’ which refers to two facet of the fruit: its superlative flesh, which is highly nutritional; and its appearance, which resembles the thorny thrones of the Asia kings of old (Subhadrabandhu & Ketsa, 2001).
Toxicity problem is another factor that affecting nutritive value of cassava leaves (Tontisirin et al 2002). The variability observed in chemical components of cassava and its by-products in this study agreed with the report of Chaves et al. (2005) that there is much variation in the nutrient quality of the cassava root, leave and peel. The higher variability noticed in crude fiber, ether extract and ash for cassava root, leaf and peel could be due to resultant effect of soil nutrient and other components. According to Gil and Buitrago, (2002),fiber content differ according to variety and stage of development and the starch decreases in cassava root as the fiber content increases. This level of ash content gives an indication of total mineral
Malnutrition is one of the biggest healthcare problems that I noticed while working in Swaziland. The lecture Dr. Pawelos gave really opened up my eyes to malnutrition, in kids especially, when we were out working in the field. Before traveling, I assumed that we would see malnutrition cases but I wasn’t aware of how many we’d see and how many different types of malnutrition we would encounter. There are several types of malnutrition, in general, but there are a few main types occurring in the kids that live in Swaziland. The different types of malnutrition are occurring due to the types of food available to the kids, and how many meals they are given a day. However, there are also steps being
There are tons of global issues across the globe and many are talked about on a daily basis, which they should be. With that being said, there are some that are not discussed as much as they should be. Malnutrition is one of those issues. Malnutrition is the lack of proper nutrition caused by not having enough to eat, or not eating the right things. In this paper, I will explain why malnutrition is a very important issue, how it affects people across the world, and what can be done to alleviate it.
According to a fact file created by the World Health Organization (2012), Anemia, wasting, stunting, and death are all conditions that often result from undernutrition. One fact states that anemia is often common in adolescent girls. They also found that it affects 42% of pregnant woman globally. Lack of essential nutrients in these developing girls along with early pregnancies leads to the occurrence of anemia. Wasting occurs when there is a severe condition of undernutrition. According to the facts by the WHO, wasting results from deficiencies of food made worse by the presence of illness. This kills nearly 1.5 billion children annually. People who live in extreme poverty are very susceptible to this. Stunting, which is when a child is too short for their age, also commonly results from malnutrition. The WHO found that about 165 million children are stunted across the globe. Stunted children suffer from poor learning and brain development as well. Africa and Asia account for the majority of stunted children in the world. All of these conditions can potentially lead to death. According to the WHO, 1/3rd of child deaths are a result of undernutrition. The rate of overweight individuals is occurring simultaneously with rising rates of undernutrition. According to the WHO, “The result is a double burden of malnutrition.” (WHO,
To the United Nations, nearly a quarter of children under the age of five are expected to remain underweight in two thousand and fifteen. The World Health Organization has reported hunger and related malnutrition as the greatest single threat to the world's public health. Improving nutrition is widely regarded as the most effective form of aid. Nutrition-specific interventions, which address the immediate causes of under nutrition, have been proven to deliver among the best value for money of all development interventions. In Africa, rates have been increasing for malnourished people (Hanson 204-5). For hundreds of millions of people, starvation is a daily threat. In the poor nations of Africa, Asia, Latin America, billions of hungry people face starvation. It begins with an ache in your stomach that eventually weakens your heart and stops beating. Today about five billion of the world’s five point nine billion live in poor nations. (“Hunger and Malnutrition” web).
Food insecurity and poor nutrition is an alarmingly large problem for low income families, especially in developing countries. Many strategies exist to fight this problem, although not many of these address all the factors contributing to it along with all the possible solutions to solve it. In many cases, multiple strategies must correlate and work together so that all the determinants of this issue are addressed and can fight food insecurity from different angles. This essay will discuss the significance of the problem, a range of possible strategies to solve the problem, and go into detail on a select few that will correlate and work together to solve different factors of food insecurity and poor nutrition.
There is no way to be an honest student if you have never engaged in the entertainment of procrastination. Few of the motivated people in this world realize that procrastination isn't simply pointless nonsense. It has a pattern. A process. And it is overlooked by those of another mindset called productivity. If you are a procrastinator you will already know about these concepts and perhaps will want to add some suggestions of your own. For the more productive this mindset will not come naturally so that is why you now can refer to this paper to more effectively engage in the ancient art of the idle: procrastination.
In developing counties also known as third world counties malnutrition is a very serious situation. When a person suffers from malnutrition the person body’s cell may be receiving either an excess or a deficiency of one or more nutrients. “Malnutrition essentially mean “bad nourishment”, it could be “over nutrition” when the diet contained too many calories, or could be “under nutrition” if the
