What could have been the motive to stab a twelve year old friend who was so innocent? The supposed motive behind the stabbing was a character called ‘Slenderman’. The two were supposedly influenced by this character and wanted to “please” the character. The sentencing of underage criminals has remained a logistical and moral issue in the world for a very long time. The issue is brought to our perspective in the documentary Making a Murderer and the audio podcast Serial. However this lost during development does not excuse juvenile from their accountability, instead they should acquire special attention, proper nurturing and guidance during development in order to help them make better decisions. Everyday there are gruesome and graphic murders committed in America. Unfortunately, a portion of these horrid crimes are in fact committed by none other than America’s own children. The main problem faced, is to find the line to draw between children and adults when trying them for the homicides they commit. Although they are children, they still perform the same horrible acts as many adult psychopathic killers. This leaves many to question if the minor that commits the crime is truly a child and not a cold blooded killer.

Murder is a gruesome crime that many people have committed. Whether on purpose or on accident it is a serious offense and is treated as one. The murder of youths who have not yet experienced life for themselves is especially tragic. People found guilty for murder can be given several different punishments, from twenty years to life in prison.
