recently watched “Percy Jackson and the Olympians: Lightning thief”, and I was surprised by all the recent settings. I for all liked it because it felt more real and interesting. Movies that have modern day settings are better, because when you see something that happened in the movie you can be like “oh this happened here” or “ I wanna go there someday ” and you could, because it's in a “ modern day ”. Also you could relate it to something that is going on today in life. . If we were watching ancient Greek and there were old settings, then it would be boring because you don’t have a clue where things happened or can't relate to the setting. For example the Hollywood sign, you would know that it’s big and that it’s in the mountains. If it were old you wouldn’t know …show more content…
where half of those things are. Like the Prairies, I’ve heard about it and won’t even mind looking it up. And I know most people will do the same thing. Another reason why a modern day setting is better, is because you can relate to many things for example, kids nowadays are always on their phones, they’re wearing makeup and have a bad attitude, so you could relate when it talks about those things, and might even laugh and agree.
If it were older than you might not think those things happened, and you might not even care because it already happened, it’s old news! It's like reading out of a history book and I don’t know about you guys but I don’t like history. But with modern day movies you’ll be interested in what they have to say or do because they’re talking to your generation in
particular. Lastly I think using a modern day setting is good because that way if you see a place or thing you like in a movie, you could go there. And it will look almost exactly the same, so you will be satisfied and happy with your choice thanks to the modern day setting that let you see things that are here today. You could also make an intervention using some ideas from modern day settings, like for example a robot, you liked the purpose of why the robot was made and how it was made so you get inspired because of the movie and we all know that the future is everything. Believe it or not but it does inspire you, for example me, I always wanted to be a doctor because of a movie I saw. They saved life’s and it felt good and I want to spread happiness and hope all around. I really think people should make more modern day movies you should watch one and you’ll understand why. It’s good to always try something new even if you think your not going to like it, it can surprise you. A good movie to start with is this “Percy Jackson and the Olympians: Lightning Thief” it was a really good movie to watch I really enjoyed it is so will you. Go modern day movies!!!
Describe some ways in which business values and artistic values in Hollywood contend with one another.
Blacula was played by William Marshall, who took great pride in playing this character. Originally the character name for Blacula was Andy Brown, which was similar to a black face comedy character on a well-known radio show at the time. William expressed serious discontent with this and demanded that the name be changed, so there was no confusion between the two. Marshall also cared about the nobility of the character and suggested that the name be respectable and related to African roots like Mamuwalde (Lawrence,
A noticeable difference in the way movies have changed over the years is evident when comparing and contrasting two films of different eras which belong to the same genre and contain the same subject matter. Two vampire movies, Dracula and Bram Stoker's Dracula, present an interesting example of this type of study.
In 2012, Scott Thurman published The Revisionaries, a film that illustrates how the Texas edification organization has settled into a modern rise of outmoded, religious, and ideological wiles, with each associate fostering their dogmata’s of both ontological and theological complications in Texas education. Additionally, Thurman’s film also highlights how their programs have had the consequence of retelling critical creeds of America, and how that affects scholastic processes nationwide, for an ample aggregate of people to befall on. Likewise, The Revisionaries congregates on concerns that various scholars acquire conception of in their Texas Government lecture, such as, constituent turnout in Texas, politicization, the Texas learning structure,
Before the civil rights movement could begin, a few courageous individuals had to guide the way. Dr. Vernon Johns was one of those individuals. Dr. Vernon Johns was a pastor and civil rights activist in the 1920s. Johns became the pastor of Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama in the late 1940s. During his time as a pastor, Johns preached many sermons on how African American people were being treated not only in the community but in society. Johns on multiple occasions upset his community through his ideas on social change. Through a sociologist perspective, many sociological concepts were displayed in The Vernon Johns Story. Some of those concepts included: ascribed status, conflict theory, deviant behavior, alienation, and

Now a story is great when it has a great plot, excellent pacing, and originality. When I say good plot I mean that the plot is well done and does not leave the audience confused. Excellent pacing is when the speed of the movie is fast and gives the audience I nice blend of exposition and action. Now these day originality in a movie is rare. But when the movie has a story that's original it's usually done right or even perfectly. That's why I like movies that were from the 90’s because of how original they

The movie I decided to analyze for this course was American History X (1998), which stars Edward Norton. Though this movie isn’t widely known, it is one of the more interesting movies I have seen. It’s probably one of the best films that depict the Neo Nazi plague on American culture. The film takes place from the mid to late 1990’s during the Internet boom, and touches on subjects from affirmative action to Rodney King. One of the highlights of this movie that really relates to one of the key aspects of this course is the deterrence of capital punishment. Edward Norton’s portrayal as the grief stricken older brother who turns to racist ideologies and violence to cope with his fathers death, completely disregards the consequences of his actions as he brutally murders someone in front of his family for trying to steal his car. The unstable mentality that he developed after his father’s death really goes hand-to-hand specifically with Isaac Ehrlich’s study of capital punishment and deterrence. Although this movie is entirely fictional, a lot of the central themes (racism, crime punishment, gang pervasiveness, and one’s own vulnerability) are accurate representations of the very problems that essentially afflict us as a society.
Most everyone can remember a specific moment in their life where they felt on top of the world. For most people it would probably be a great game of football, a time when they feel needed most, or maybe when they finally beat that high score on their favorite game; for me it was crossdressing at the Saenger Theater watching a movie about transvestite aliens. Now I know that may sound pretty strange, but it is actually a tradition among Rocky Horror Picture Show fans and one of the greatest moments of my life.
There is a great assortment of movies that are made each year, and all different genres to choose from. Movies are a massive part of the entertainment area in today 's society. People from all over the world have different opinions about each genre, such as which is their favorite or least favorite. Since the movie selection has such a wide range of genres, it can make for a difficult decision on which one to choose. When picking a movie to watch, a couple of the options are laughing to tears watching Adam Sandler or being scared to death by Freddie Krueger.
1.) Sam provided stages one through four for Lucy. For stage one Sam gave Lucy a sense of trust. He bought her better diapers when the cloth when the ones Sam made didn’t work. Though, in the beginning Sam wasn’t feeding Lucy enough so he asked for help and got a feeding schedule going. If Sam did not provide all these important aspects for Lucy then it could build some mistrust. Stage two occurs when Lucy starts to talk and walk. With Lucy starting to do these things independently she also started to notice other things that she could do on her own. Although in the movie we didn't get to see much of this stage we can infer that Sam helped provide it for her. In stage two Lucy learns anatomy. Stage three occurs when Lucy suggests going to a burger place instead of IHOP.
Manipulation of time is one of the main common features of all films, since early black and white cinema until nowadays-modern movies. The filmmakers use a lot of different editing techniques to manipulate the flow of time and to compress the story of the movie into an acceptable duration. Virtually all films use time compression and it is often used with a purpose to create a dramatic effect. Slow motion was invented by Professor August Musger (1868 - 1929) and is described as an action that is made to appear slower than normal by passing the film through the taking camera at a faster rate than normal or by replaying a video tape recording more slowly. A filmmaker achieves slow motion by running film through his camera at a speed faster than the standard 24 frames per second; subsequent projection at 24 frames per second slows down the action. Fast motion is just the opposite one and is explained as an action that appears to move faster than normal on the screen, accomplished by filming the action at less than normal speed in the camera and then projecting it at normal speed. A sw...
Movement is undeniably one of the most important parts of cinema without it we wouldn 't be calling them “movies”. An often overlooked part of the art of cinema, if done well it can make a scene even more impactful and convey as much information as dialogue can about how the character is thinking and feeling. On of the elements of movement that makes it so important to the art is its ability to completely change the meaning of a scene just by changing the position of the camera. “A director can photograph the same subject—a running man, for example—in two different setups and produce opposite meanings. If the man is photographed in an extreme long shot from a high angle, he will seem ineffectual and impotent. If he’s photographed from a low angle in a medium shot, he will seem a dynamo of energy. A lthough the subject matter in each setup is absolutely identical, the true content of each shot is its form” (understanding movies 99).
