Sympathetic towards others Misfortunes
Today individuals tend to overlook to those that need help when something goes wrong in their lives. Even at the toughest moments, we seem passive not in such circumstances in each day action in our lives, including showing no sympathy for people that can be helpless in bad settings. The long history of humans is just a fraction elapse of time on Earth, nevertheless, even with the lack of time our impact in one another has been quite a big one. A quote expressing such idea says that (“Our sympathy proclaims our innocence as well as our impotence”) (Sontag), such a thought can attribute to real human emotions which separate us from nonliving things such as machines. It does need to occur to feel impotence after an event already occurs the best is find a solution with active actions to help solve the problem. Norman Schwarzkopf Jr, a famous war soldier once said, "The truth of the matter is you always know the right thing to do. The hard part is doing it." Although society has the potential to help others in need they restrict themselves from doing the right thing. But when society is challenged with a problem only some step up against to the odds to make a difference. Throughout history, during times of devastation and separation there are people that show a ray of light that gives people hope during the darkest times.
One example would be something as simple as watch t.v and eating dinner, this is a habit we have all done before. In this situation the t.v turns on and you see a video of starving children on your t.v screen, you take a moment of silent. After you pity the children then comes the prayer to God, thanking God that you aren’t in that situation. This is the part when your self-gratitude comes out, instead of trying to go out and help the child or even pray for the child’s well-being, where stuck praying for ourselves. We try to express gratitude by thanking God for the roof over our heads and the foods he’s provided for us today, after all that’s done we get a good feeling in our hearts, and go back to eating dinner and talking about our day while the child is still starving. This is what Barbara was trying to talk about in her article, about how everything’s becoming a “you and you” relationship We as a social aren’t really trying that hard to help other because when we see a bad situation instead of going after it and trying to make it better we tend to focus on the our lives and selfishly bring it back to us and how grateful we are that it wasn’t us, and that isn’t helping anyone get
Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “The ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people but the silence over that by the good people.” We are All Bystanders by Jason Marsh and Dacher Keltner is an article that reflects on the psychological and social phenomenon that refers to cases in which people do not offer any assistance or help to a victim. Studies say that a person's personality can determine how they react to a bystander situation. In a book called, The Heart of Altruism, author Kristen Monroe writes the altruistic perspective. Altruistic people are strongly connected to other humans and have a concern for the well-being of others. Markus Zusak’s The Book Thief exemplifies the bystander theory through Liesel and

The bystander effect plays a key role in society today. More and more people ignore a person in distress.
Help comes in abundance when the event is in the news, however once the limelight fades the residents are left to pick up the pieces

Over the years, human beings have not made the right conclusions when it comes to benevolence. In considering when a decision should be made regarding a fellow human being in need, trivial conditions are used as excuses such as distance, magnitude, and how well you know someone. Considerably wealthy countries have given money but it amounts to a fraction of the costs of their own development of transportation and entertainment. The morality of the situation is skewed in order to coddle the conscience of the inactive. As much as people and governments would like to, they cannot deny what is happening in the world around them. The position taken by Singer is that the way people in wealthier countries respond to situations in which others around them need help due to some man made or natural disaster is unjustifiable. Singer argues that many thinks need to be redesigned—namely, what shapes and affects our definition of morality and our way of life that we tend to take for granted.
Victim Blaming – Final Paper According to the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN), an American is sexually assaulted every two minutes. However, most of these assaults are never talked about, reported, or given justice. One of the biggest reasons for the silence that surrounds sexual assault is due to victim blaming According to UsLegal's website, victim blaming is defined as "a devaluing act where the victim of a crime, an accident, or any type of abusive maltreatment is held as wholly or partially responsible for the wrongful conduct committed against them" (USLegal). In essence, victim blaming occurs when, instead of the attacker being blamed for their crimes against the victim, the victim is blamed and is at fault because they "provoked the attacker" and that they "had it coming to them."
Victimology is the scientific study of victimization and is an issue that affects millions of Americans each year. Anyone is at risk to be general target, but some people share similar traits and many criminologists seek to explain the facts that define the relationship between offender and the victim. This involves the study or investigation into the relationship type and level between the offenders and the victims of the crimes (Hagan, 2013). It works to create linkage between the criminal justice system and the victim to become a voice to advocate and secure justice for the victim. Most often violent crime is planned and executed by a person who is close to the victim. Victims are placed into four categories of victimization; The Victim
