Machiavellianism is the behaving in a manner that disregards morality and others, and is focused on self-interest. Manipulation and deception is used for self-gain.it is seen in politics and the functioning of nations. Narcissism is egotistic admiration of a person’s own attributes and is characterized by a lack of empathy and has high focus on themselves. Psychopathy is characterized by impulsivity, anti-social behavior and having a lack of remorse. It is the tendency to show little or no regard for the emotions and feelings of others (Medina, 2016). The dark triad is a personality that has all three; narcissism, Machiavellianism, and psychopathy. It is a dangerous personality with malicious qualities.
2.2) Mischel suggested that a person’s behavior is not simply the result of their traits, but dependent on situational cues and the environment and the needs of a given situation. Cognitive processes refer to all characteristics previously learned and behavior refers to anything that we do that will be rewarded or punished in some form. Context in which the behavior occurs is the environment or situation, which can have rewarding or punishing stimuli. This theory was important because it revealed that environment was not the only factor that affected behavior. Humans are actively involved in molding the environment that influences their own development and growth (Boundless, 2016).
