Minecraft is a sandbox independent video game originally created by Swedish programmer Markus "Notch" Persson and later developed and published by the Swedish company Mojang. The creative and building aspects of Minecraft enable players to build constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally generated world. Minecraft is a game about breaking and placing blocks to create fantastic creations. In the video game, there are two gameplay modes and these are survival and creative mode. There are a lot of unique materials to experiment on. These materials include wood, stone, iron, wool, and even gold blocks. Players can create something any out of this to come up with a unique design. People who aspire to be artists can experiment with colourful blocks like wool, dyed hardened clay, and even gold and diamond blocks. These can be used to make up a pixelated kind of artwork. Sculptures can also be made and to be experimented in the Minecraft world. The people who aspire to be architects can also work freely in the virtual environment. The structures can be made by pure gold, surrounded by lava, or even make the structure upside down. There are a lot of possibilities the design of the infrastructure might look like considering that every material in Minecraft is considered a building material. People can analyse critically if the unique materials can relate to each other and if one does not contradict the nature of the material. By this, if players put together a creation that includes only lava and wooden materials and considering that both of them are close, then the whole creation is ruined since wood is flammable and will burn up if it is exposed to fire or lava. By experimenting with the given resources, it gives players something they haven’t done and try to relate these concepts with their perception of building creations. Diane Thiel’s poem, “The Minefield,” is about a man who has been traumatized by his past memories of war while he was a teenager. The man witnessed his friend stepping on a land mine and watched his body blow into pieces. This horrific experience has been embedded in his mind and continues to haunt him daily. The trauma that he carries with him results in the mental and physical abuse towards his daughter (Thiel) and the rest of his family. In the first stanza of the poem, the setting takes place in a field somewhere between Prague and Dresden. The rest of the poem continues on while he and his family eat dinner. Thiel uses literary elements including tone, metaphors, and similes to demonstrate how the never-ending pain caused by the war impacted him and his family.
For many, the world of Runescape is an unfamiliar world. Runescape involves many players in a medieval world of ghosts, goblins, and dangerous dragons. By fighting these monsters, characters can level up and get stronger. Each combat level that a player acquires increases his or her character’s strength by one point. People outside this discourse community would have a difficult time trying to understand everything that is going on in this internet game. Even people playing for years might not know everything there is to know about the game. It takes about two weeks to understand and incorporate Runescape’s terms and ways to trade, but that two weeks goes by plenty fast. Breaking things down to its simplest parts is a tough thing to do, but it puts the world of Runescape into view for others that have not heard about the game. Interacting with the other players of Runescape and understanding what the other people are trying to say are key survival techniques that must be used in order to last in this game.

There are seven different design principles, which Olmsted incorporated into his projects that start with the letter S: scenery, suitability, style, subordination, separation, sanitation, and service. The scenery aspect of design is about “the small spaces and areas [that are] intended for active use. [It is the] creation of designs that give an enhanced sense of space: indefinite boundaries [and the] constant opening up of new view.” Olmsted also wanted to avoid the “hard-edge [and] specimen planting” because these make the landscape seem less natural and more manmade. Suitability is the “creation of designs that are in keeping with the natural scenery and topography of the site: respect for, and full utilization of, the ‘genius of the place.’” Style has to do with “designing in specific styles, [because] each [various style will create] a particular effect” on the entire area. Depending on what is done, a calm place can be created that is full of richness or even a place that seems uneasy and full of mystery. Subordination is the overall design and the effect it is intended to achieve. Separation deals with “areas designed in different styles.” Each one needs to be set apart from one another “in order to insure safety of use and reduce distractions for those using the space; separation of conflicting or incompatible uses.” Sanitation is about creating a place that has “adequate drainage and other engineering considerations [that] promote both the physical and mental health of” people who occupy the space. In these drawing you will see triangles, rectangles, squares, arches and other geometry shapes and forms to create their design. The architects through our history have used these shapes to create famous structures all over the world. If you go back to Roman historical sites you will see such examples like the great Coliseum. A great example can be seen is the famous Egyptian pyramid. Some other famous structures are the Eiffel Tower which is in Italy, and Chrysler building in New York. From the early Greek temples of yesteryear, to the high-tech autonomous buildings of tomorrow, the question of whether the function of a building or its aesthetics qualities are more important has plagued the minds of architects around the world. Webster's II New College Dictionary (Please do not use the encyclopedia or the dictionary to open your essay--way too high school.) defines aesthetics as "The branch of philosophy that provides a theory of the beautiful and of the fine arts" (18). The definition of Functionalism is defined by Webster's as "The doctrine that the function of an object should determine its design and materials" (453). Now, if the function of an object decides the type of design and materials used how does one integrate aesthetics into design, and moreover, how important are aesthetics to an architect? Frank Lloyd Wright was one of the greatest and most renowned architects of the 19th and 20th centuries, and while his buildings where lauded for displaying great artistic design, the issue of function was compromised by the blatant fact that his roofs leaked. This is because he let the aesthetics of his buildings become the focus of the structure, and neglected to adequately address the function of the building allowing for this problem to take root in his designs (Palermo, 4 Mar. 1999). As is apparent from Frank Lloyd Wright, there is a certain balance that has to be attained between aesthetics and functionalism in order for a structure to be appreciated as a successful building.
In order to create innovative public architecture, considered to be the most civic, costly, time intensive and physical of the arts, the project holds a degree of risk, strife, and negotiation . Overcoming these tasks and creating worthy public architecture is a challenge designers try to accomplish, but are rarely successful. The people involved in a potential public building, can be larger than the building itself. In a green building, consideration is also given to the construction process itself. Materials that minimize waste or can be recycled, help contribute to an efficient and environmentally sensitive construction process.
This module broadens our understanding on the ways in which buildings are constructed and the purpose of choosing materials and structures for buildings. This module is divided into survey, structure, materials and construction. These are taught specifically through lectures, tutorial exercises, drawings and lab test workshops. The lectures were an explanation of the topics in which our knowledge was put into practice by solving and experimenting questions during tutorials and workshops. By the end of the year, we gained great knowledge on the contents of this module by taking part in this structured order of learning and understanding in workshops and tutorials.

Gaming helps stimulate the brain and advances your problem solving abilities. There are disadvantages to gaming, which is true, but the amount of benefits outweigh them by far.
Like all engineers, architectural engineers apply the theories and principles of science and mathematics to research and develop economical solutions to technical problems. Their work is the link between scientific discoveries and commercial applications. Engineers design products, machinery to build those products, factories in which those products are made, and the systems that ensure the quality of the product and efficiency of the workforce and manufacturing process. Engineers design, plan, and supervise the construction of buildings, highways, and transit systems. They develop new materials that both improve the performance of products and help implement advances in technology. Engineering knowledge is applied to improving many things, including the quality of health care, the safety of food products, and the efficient operation of financial systems.
Although, over the last century civil engineering knowledge has been supplemented by all kinds of mathematics and physics based theories. We strongly believe that this sort of curriculum can make educators success in their profession, however, it doesn’t happen in the real world. In the journal “Successful Civil Engineering Education” (Arciszewski, 2010) mentions that only the well-know, routine solutions that come from traditional engineering analysis and optimization are not enough. It also requires engineering creativity (Arciszewski,
