Mindfulness is a mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feeling, thoughts, and bodily sensation, as a therapeutic technique. The M square, as I call it, which stands for Mindfulness and Meditation is making an impact on today’s society, as it has been used by more people with each passing day. They are starting to acknowledge the benefits, some of which are the improvement in both mental and physical health, acceptance of one 's self, lower stress and depression, and maybe more but to mention a few. Not excluding these two great men; Dr. Martinez, a Biocognitive Psychologist and Keith Mitchell, an ex-American football linebacker in the National Football League. Both Dr. and ended at 11:30 p.m. That gave me time to tend to my daily needs and get some work done. There weren 't as many activities in comparison to the Mind Body Conference, which was a relief because too much work would have left me exhausted. The yoga activity we did was fun and well worth it; Yoga was intense at first to a point where I couldn’t keep up, but after I got settled in it was very calm and relaxing. Unlike our usual yoga practices, this one was more soothing. I really enjoyed the Workshop because it worked perfectly well with my time. On the other hand, the Mind Body Conference was very time-consuming and stressful. It was on a Thursday and that is one of my busiest days of the week. Class started for me as early as 8:00 a.m. Within every break I had before class I had to show up and partake in one or more of the activities going on, that wasn’t working well at all. The yoga session we had left me with mixed feelings. It was good because we were the first people to ever do an activity in the school grass, which was an honor since it is against the rule to walk or do anything on the grass but having the permission to practice yoga on there was a privilege. I didn’t like it because it had rained earlier and the grass was wet, even the yoga mat wasn’t helping because my stuff got wet and all types of bugs were walking on me which I didn’t like. There were other activities, but my interest wasn’t peaked since I was too busy trying to balance work and the conference

There are many forms of mindfulness interventions, some of which include mindfulness based stress reduction, mindfulness based cognitive therapy, dialectic behavior therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. Some mindfulness interventions incorporate mindfulness meditation practices and skills and others incorporate psychological and behavioral versions of mindfulness skills. Mindfulness based interventions entail mindfulness meditation practices and skills gathered from Buddhist philosophical origins, and transformed into a secular context to encompass a more universal perspective and application. Through mindfulness group and in-home practices, individuals develop mindfulness skills and attitudes, which include focusing, maintaining attention through focusing on ones breath, accepting one’s current circumstance and experience, which also includes awareness of physical sensations, all by taking a non-judgmental stance. Furthermore, the three primary components of mindfulness are attitude, attention, and intention. Attitudinal components include non-judgment, acceptance, trust, patience, curiosity, and kindness; Attentional components include maintaining focus and the ability to switch focuses; Intentional components include having an intention to practice and to intentionally self-regulate ones attention. On the days that I was able to complete this project successfully, I did notice I felt more awake and calmer when I started my day. The yoga helped ease the general aches and pains of getting out of bed and the water made me less hungry for breakfast which allowed me to control what I chose to eat better. But I do not feel like I have made a habit out of anything. It was simply something I did when I wasn’t tired and had the time.

The goal of this study was to identify the ways in which engaging in yoga practices would alter psychological well being, and allow people to engage more fully in their lives and flourish in health and happiness. The first term that I came across was psychophysiology and how this principle is based on the mind and body being one and how our thinking affects all physiology. This principle was the perfect definition of yoga because yoga focuses on how the mind and body connects with each other. It gives you a sense of relaxation throughout your mind and body together. Furthermore, the yoga that was in the video was a yoga style called hatha. Which practices asana (yoga postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises). According to the book, this practices helps bring peace to the mind and body and prepare our body to do deeper exercises. The art of breathing was mentioned during the exercise and in the book. Breathing is very important when trying to unite the mind, body, and spirit. So, having slow, deep breathes was a main focused during the exercise. Another term that was used in the video was the art of stretching, which allows us to become aware of our flexibility of our muscle while moving. Lastly, the art of balance is significant because it allows us to move into the next form of position on both sides of our body.
