Microsoft makes and inspires technology that changes the way people play, work, and communicates across the world by computer devices. Microsoft started on April 4, 1975 in Albuquerque, New Mexico and was founded by Bill Gates and Paul Allen. Microsoft makes revenue by licensing, developing, and supporting a huge range of software products, cloud-based services, designing and selling hardware, and by advertising online to a global audience. The most significant expenses that Microsoft’s are related to is compensating and paying employees, manufacturing, designing, selling, and marketing their product, and income taxes.
The industry that Microsoft in is very dynamic and highly competitive, with frequent and fast changes in both technologies and businesses. Every industry change is an opportunity to visualize new products, technologies, or new ideas that can transform and change future industry and business. An example of this is the First Choice Group; they own First Choice Travel Agency and First Choice Hypermarket, both of which are on the same level of the buying chain. The advantage of horizontal integration is that it can increase the company’s market share. Another good example of this type of integration is when EasyJet purchased the airline Go from British Airways. Now EasyJet and Go both operate under the company name of EasyJet.

These give them the edge since the products they offer a variety for the customers to choose from, and hence they can shop less than one roof (Cole, 1997).
