I believe Michael Waterson would be the most responsible for the death of Bart Matthews. Waterson is the CEO of Silicon Techtronic. Therefore, he gives orders and is accountable for his company’s outcome. Waterson demand that the robot be completed by a certain date no matter what. Thus, putting his employees under pressure and creates opportunity for errors. This pressure caused one employee, Ray Johnson Robotics Division Chief, that worked under him to do unethical things to meet the deadline. Also, Waterson acted unethically and irresponsibly by placing Sam Reynolds in charge of the robot project. Reynolds lacked experience with robots and modern user interfaces, because he worked in data processing. Waterson pressuring Johnson and placing Reynolds caused this ethical dilemma to occurred. If Waterson chose someone more experienced with robots and modern user interfaces, then this would not have not had happened. Similarly, if Waterson had communicated with Johnson more and talk the problems out then Johnson would not have done the things he did. The is a saying “Crap rolls downhill,” meaning the if the higher ups made a bad or unethical choice then it is going to …show more content…
Then this will be the area I will start off. First, Waterson would need to tell Johnson to finish this project by a certain date, but however let Johnson know that if there is an issue with that, Johnson needs to talk to him. Waterson needs to related and communication with Johnson on a better level instead of putting pressure on him. Plus, Johnson and Waterson are not on a good term to start off with. Thus, this is key to start off the project. Once Johnson understands Waterson order’s then he can continue and successfully give orders to the employee under him. However, if Johnson has problems completing the task on time, he could discuss Ivory Snow theory with Waterson. In the end, communication is very
At this time, he set the tone for importance of effective communication which also set the tone and importance of effective communication for the success of the mission. He set his expectations and the seriousness of the issue for the team. He deliberately and consciously, empowered the teams to come up with the best solutions and then used those recommendations to make the best decisions when trying to save the space craft. He made it very clear how each person’s expertise was crucial for all of the others’
Johnson’s weaknesses are that she sometime moves too fast that her colleagues cannot catch her up, and sometimes pushes too hard and little impatient. She also “piled too much on her own plate”, which indicate Johnson put a lot of attention on insignificant issues, causing lack of involvement on other important activates. Additionally, she is still young and lack of experiences of working, which might affe...
It continues with Johnson and his administration making decisions over and over that continued to commit more and more involvement in the war, without the understanding and approval of all decision makers who should have been thoroughly involved in each decision. It details Johnson’s decision to focus on his domestic programs and his desire to not do anything that would lose him re-election.... ... middle of paper ... ... McMaster has written a thorough look at the decisions of all these men, which certainly shows a Dereliction of Duty.
The Ins and Outs of Ethics is a Business Week Online magazine article from May 13, 2001, it was written by Eric Wahlgren. In the article he interviews Michael Rion, the author of The Responsible Manager. Rion is also a leading business ethics advisor who consults many Standard and Poor’s 500 companies. In the article Wahlgren asks Rion why it is important for businesses to have a high ethical standard. In his responses, Rion explains that effective organizations utilize ethics programs to clearly define ethical expectations, resolve ethical issues quickly, and to remove moral constraints. Additionally, employees who understand how to deal with ethical dilemmas will also be more productive and have strong core values to guide them. According to scripture, Rions concepts are biblically sound, relevant, and desirable, proving that ethical organizational behavior is shaped and influenced by sound ethical principles.
Abortion has been a political, social, and personal topic for many years now. The woman’s right to choose has become a law that is still debated, argued and fought over, even though it has been passed. This paper will examine a specific example where abortion is encouraged, identify the Christian world views beliefs and resolution as well as the consequences of such, and compare them with another option.
I chose to write about Aristotle and his beliefs about how the virtuous human being needs friends from Book VIII from Nicomachean Ethics. In this essay I will talk about the three different kinds of friendship that (Utility, Pleasure, and Goodness) that Aristotle claims exist. I will also discuss later in my paper why Aristotle believes that Goodness is the best type of friendship over Utility or Pleasure. In addition to that I will also talk about the similarities and differences that these three friendships share between one another. And lastly I will argue why I personally agree with Aristotle and his feelings on how friendship and virtue go hand in hand and depend on each other.
The following paper analyzes the Whitbread World Sailboat Race case scenario presented at the end of chapter 9 in the Gray and Larson text, Project Management: the Managerial Process. The project encompasses two main objectives; one, design, build and test a new vessel, and two, select and train a crew capable of winning the race. Both objectives must be completed within 45 weeks, the start of the race, and with a planned budget of $3.2 million.
As discussed, this project and its requirements highlight areas where future work/improvements can be made to increase the project and the outcome. The timeframe put on this project is something which can be changed to deliver a full implementation rather than “vanilla functionality” which would later need to be modified. Another factor to consider delivering a full implementation would be the capital investment which is used for this project as this needs to be topped
The first moral and ethical issue facing Gary is lying to the customer. From the inception of the project, Gable made it clear that Gary had to be willing to lie to the customer (Dawn, 2010). The second issue is Gary’s quest to avoid overworking other team members. As a result, Gary ended up doing the largest portion of the project working sixteen hours a day. Gary delayed updating stakeholders leading to project delays and unproductive meetings. Gary failed to admit that he was poor at administrative work.
As indicated from the case, when Bob found out about Al’s trip to Detroit, he got very upset as he did not know that Al was there to close the deal with Delta Corp. This example shows a lack of communication between Bob and Al. I believe its Al’s responsibility to make sure that all the important, critical information is known to Bob and to other senior
I have chosen the business profession topic of higher education administration. I am extremely familiar with this profession; as it is the job that I currently hold. There is a plethora of different activities and task that are dealt with on a daily basis within this profession. Some of these items consist of assisting both full and part time staff and faculty, maintaining order within budgets and finance, including all purchase orders and check requests, facilitating student awards, including scholarships, staffing and training within the department, as well as dealing with public policy and laws within the college. It is immensely obvious that this job would keep anyone busy. This alone is one of the reasons I love this profession so much. Each day brings something new, and important group of items to accomplish. Anyone who holds this job, would go into work everyday knowing that the tasks that they are about to perform, will create a difference to not only to the departments and its students, but will also make a difference within the entire college. This person alone has the responsibility of making ethical decisions every single day as well as watching out for others who may need help being pointed in the proper ethical direction based on their knowledge of the school’s ethics plans that have been put in place. If someone were unaware of the ethical standards in this profession, there is a lot of room for things to head in a corrupt direction rather quickly.
Being the present manager and being appointed by the government at the feasibility stage I am asked to write a report in order to outline the activities required to successfully manage this major project and to ensure that it is completed on time and within budget.

In Module 1, Kindred Todd faced quite a few ethical dilemmas that included her values and technical ineptness. The first predicament was tested her personal morals and ethics. According to, Cumming and Worley, OD practitioners are dealing more and more with value conflicts with powerful outside groups (Cummings & Worley, 2008). Kindred was immediately faced with the issue of knowing what was ethically correct but being told the unethical approach was the best in order to benefit the client and her job security. Although compromising is one of the many skills of organization developers there are still morals that should be followed on each assignment. Kindred, know that deceiving the clients was unethical, took the first step to working on behalf of the client and immediately involved her superior, Larry, to resolve a potential conflict In the project. While her actions went in vain when she told her boss to remove her from the project and provide the client with a more qualified resource, Kindred did what she thought to be the best approach.
