Did you know that Michael Jackson won 8 Grammy awards in one night? Michael Jackson is a pop singer that loves to make his fans happy. He was a person that also wanted to show the world that even though you're a different color then the person next to you, it doesn’t matter because we’ll still love you anyways. He didn’t care what people thought of him or how he danced or dressed. He showed the world that even though people talk about you or think of you as different, that doesn’t change who you are. Michael revolutionized the world by leading a path of racial equality, being the first African-American artist to ever achieve such a high level of success, and changed the relationship between music and television.
Michael Jackson cared about everything and everyone around him no matter what or who it was. Most artists look up to him for advice. He even teamed up with the great pop singers like Paul McCartney, John Landis, and Vincent Prince. Michael Jackson was one of the first to achieve such high levels of success in the music industry .
He became the world's most famous singer from starting his systematic career after leaving his music group/brothers in 1972. He was the most successful African American in his time in music. Everyone called him the greatest pop singer and dancer of all time, giving him the name, “King of Pop” for, being the greatest inspirational singer and one of the greatest dancers of all time. Even though Michael Jackson died young, after his death people still listen to his music and his songs still grace the top 10 on the Billboard, such as “Thriller” and “Beat it”. Also he became the first artists to sell over 1 million digital track in one week. He sold over 2.6 million crushing his old record. Jackson changed the relationship between music and television because of his success, especially after his death which sparked nostalgia and references such as “MTV largely abandoned its usual lineup of reality shows in favor of a marathon of Jackson videos”(galegroup). He still inspired people around the world bringing back iconic shows such as MTV, which assisted music videos on their show, again helping other singers and rappers to get themselves known. He wanted to help show and change his fans/listeners through his music telling them that it doesn’t matter if you’re a different color and sex “we’re all equal together and in the eyes of God”. Telling his listener that color doesn’t matter we’re all equal as people. As an African American he achieved such a high level of success becoming the first to win 8 Grammy awards in one night, selling over 1 million digit tracks records the later on crushing that record with selling over 2.6 million digital records after that. He helped show love to all people no matter what color they were. After his death even after he was still changing the world & music on television.
The night of May 16, 1983, almost 50 million people watched one of the most spectacular performance on television (Scott 1). Jackson won 40 Billboard music awards (Scott 1). His lyrics are powerful he also talks about social causes, human race, and relationships. He inspired millions of people with the music he wrote. Since I was a little girl I listened to his music couple of my favorite songs are “Bad”, “Dirty Diana”, Make that Change”, “You are not alone”, “Billie Jean” “Smooth Criminal”. These songs where inspiring to me growing up to this day I listen to him. My siblings and me loved his movie called “The Moonwalker,” It’s about his music career when he was five years old till he went solo as an artist at the age of thirteen. I would watch his movie repeatedly. My sisters and me would try to follow his dance moves but we were always unsuccessful it was a great memory growing up. I loved the part when he turns himself into a bunny as a little girl I thought that was awesome. I would think I had magic And, I remember telling my mom “I wanted to be like Michael Jackson because he has powers” my mother would just laugh. Commonly referred to as the “King of Pop”, Michael Jackson continues to earn millions of dollars beyond the grave- earning over $700 million in the years since he passed away in 2009. As the pop genre derives from an abbreviation of “popular”, the King of Pop maintained record breaking popularity for extended periods of time. Pop music, is typically short and simple commercially recorded songs oriented towards a youth market; the King of Pop challenged stereotypes and the viewpoints of his audience with songs like “We are the World”, “Man in the Mirror” and many more.
Jackson worked extremely hard to get to his current position in life. He practiced non stop it seemed like. In high school, college, and throughout the pros, Jackson worked to get better at baseball, football, and track. He was able to work hard and become a star at all three. It helped that Jackson loved to be around the games, as a kid he and other neighborhood kids would play “stickball”, a form a baseball using a tree branch and a beat up tennis ball. As a teenager he would be working out or practicing constantly at his high school trying to get better (Jackson and Schaap 43).
Whitney Houston is considered to be a legendary singer in the world today. Houston was not just a singer, she was an actress, producer, and model. Even though she is known for her singing voice, Whitney Houston had many ups and downs throughout her life, such as drug and health problems that almost ended her career. Throughout her singing career, she has been honored for her great singing voice. Whitney experienced many things in her personal life from being an outstanding woman, an award winning singer, and an actress and model.
Throughout America’s history there have been countless influential leaders that have proudly been American. Those have held positions of politicians, soldiers, and . Kanye Omari West has opened the eyes of today's generation and still continues to shape American history. His musical influence has transformed the lives of countless people. Inspiring many to stand up and fight for what they believe in is something Kanye West continues to do even today.. Also, opening the eyes of many to racial injustice towards African American citizens. I’ll further elaborate my claim in the following paragraphs using historical evidence.

From all his released a couple albums and then was offered to be some movies. He make some songs and music videos with them that made it big on the Billboard charts. There were two goals for the music video; the first was to bring awareness to the overall public. The second was to promote a change in the human right issues. The goal of bringing awareness was definitely met, however, the change was a little far fetching to change the whole world with one song. But I am almost certain that Jackson did change some hearts, minds, and perspectives through his music video. The “Thriller” album Michael Jackson definitely has and will always be the man that changed pop music with his break in racial diversity barriers, being the first African American artist to have his music video played on MTV. Michael also changed African American music and the music industry forever with the Thriller album, resulting from the amount of record-breaking sales that the album sold. Whitney Houston to most was a very amazing and talented person who allowed life and its mishaps break her down. As a young girl she grew up in the church where she felt like it was a sign from God that she should be singing. Freud believes that religion is an illusion, an attempt to gain control over the external world. In his eyes saying that anything is a sign from God depends on how you vision life. There were times in her life where she would produce more music just to get thru the thing that she would be going through. She would use her music as a defense mechanism to get away from all of the abuse, problems with her marriage, neglect, and drugs. Defense mechanisms are ways to distort reality to reduce anxiety: Rationalization is giving a positive reason to a stressor and regression is withdrawing from reality and going to pastime.

First off, the famous dance move the moonwalk, on a live performance of "Billie Jean" on May Sixteenth, 1983 this was the first time Michael Jackson had performed that dance and became one of Michael's most well-known moves, (Biography.com Editors). Today, and back then people all around the world try to do the moonwalk after the remarkable performance during, "Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever.", if he had never performed that dance it wouldn’t be as idolized as it is today, and definitely represents his effect on the culture of today.
However, what attributed to Michael Jackson’s success was not because he got lucky, it is simply because he practiced hours and hours at his craft and essentially where he was born and raised. It’s easy to assume that Michael simply just had a natural ability to sing and dance, but we tend to overlook the endless amount of hours this man has put forth to become so successful.
