At the Top of Pop
“The king of pop, rock, and soul” - Elizabeth Taylor (Greenburg). Michael Jackson is a pop star whose most successful time happened during the 1980’s. He is one of the top selling artists of all time and has won numerous awards throughout his career. The way Michael Jackson influenced others with his music and dancing is the reason he is a revolutionary.
Michael Jackson was a revolutionary in mosts things he did, including dancing. Michael Jackson popularized my new moves, some of which he made. “His videos showcased dance moves that were being imitated well into the 2000s: the foot-sliding Moonwalk, first displayed in the video for ‘Billie Jean,’ became a dance craze” (“Michael Jackson”).This quote proves Jackson was able

Jackson’s music videos set the stage for a new way. “Jackson used his MTV time to tell stories (as in Thriller and Smooth Criminal), push the boundaries of special effects (as in Billie Jean), produce full, Broadway-choreography (as in Beat in)” (Rosen). Jackson’s videos changed how some music videos are made today, as Kanye West’s “Runaway” and The Weeknd’s “In the Night” are used for telling stories in an almost feature film esque, such as Jackson did in his music video for “Thriller.” Sia’s “Chandeliers” is a good example of using choreography for a music video, as throughout the entire video Sia has a little girl dance in what seems to be a mix of ballet and gestures. Jackson was able to influence with almost everything he did. “Jackson influenced just about every musician who came after him in one way or another. He was unavoidable. Baltimore-based hip-hop performer MC Saleem Heggins can't point to one specific way Jackson helped shape his music. That would almost be insulting, he said. Jackson was much broader than that, and his legacy is almost impossible to pin down” (Rosen). Having a legacy that is almost impossible to pin down means that Jackson was able to influence almost everything he touched. Jackson's ability to influence almost every musician speaks volumes on what he did for the entire
The night of May 16, 1983, almost 50 million people watched one of the most spectacular performance on television (Scott 1). Jackson won 40 Billboard music awards (Scott 1). His lyrics are powerful he also talks about social causes, human race, and relationships. He inspired millions of people with the music he wrote. Since I was a little girl I listened to his music couple of my favorite songs are “Bad”, “Dirty Diana”, Make that Change”, “You are not alone”, “Billie Jean” “Smooth Criminal”. These songs where inspiring to me growing up to this day I listen to him. My siblings and me loved his movie called “The Moonwalker,” It’s about his music career when he was five years old till he went solo as an artist at the age of thirteen. I would watch his movie repeatedly. My sisters and me would try to follow his dance moves but we were always unsuccessful it was a great memory growing up. I loved the part when he turns himself into a bunny as a little girl I thought that was awesome. I would think I had magic And, I remember telling my mom “I wanted to be like Michael Jackson because he has powers” my mother would just laugh. One of his quotes from his lyrics that is powerful to me is “If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself, then make that change,” this
middle of paper ... ... If Jackson did not change his view of life, work hard at everything he did, and excel at sports, who knows where he would be today? He could be sitting in a jail cell because he never changed his ways and lost his temper, or he could still be living in a small house in a small town.
1.Jack Cole thought that dance wears are fantastic and the dancing itself is like a body architecture. Dancers are body architects. Then he studied how to dance from Ruth St. Denis and Ted Shawn. Cole learned a lot of dancing styles and tried to mix them together. He was known as the father of “theatrical jazz dance”, and he influenced many other dancers afterwards. In his dance, one of the most obvious features is that there was a small group of dancers on the stage rather than a large one. Cole instructed many actors and dancers after he retired from dancing.
There are many performers, choreographers, and artistic movements that have greatly impacted and influenced today’s American entertainment industry. One man in particular led a revolution of modern dance which created the dance style as it is now known and recognized today; this man is Ted Shawn. As an innovator of modern dance, Ted Shawn impacted today’s American entertainment industry through his emphasis on masculine rather than effeminate qualities in male dancers, and the creation of his nationally renowned dance festival and institution known as “Jacob’s Pillow.”
Throughout America’s history there have been countless influential leaders that have proudly been American. Those have held positions of politicians, soldiers, and . Kanye Omari West has opened the eyes of today's generation and still continues to shape American history. His musical influence has transformed the lives of countless people. Inspiring many to stand up and fight for what they believe in is something Kanye West continues to do even today.. Also, opening the eyes of many to racial injustice towards African American citizens. I’ll further elaborate my claim in the following paragraphs using historical evidence.
Unquestionably one of the most influential musical pioneers of the last half-century, James Brown, often known as “The Godfather of Soul”, laid a musical foundation that many artists were influenced by. Ranging from Mick Jagger to Afrika Bambaataa to Jay Z, Brown’s musical characteristics can be seen in various artists. How did the music of Michael Jackson demonstrate the influence of James Brown?

Jackson grew up in an Irish community. Growing up, Jackson was very mature and masculine. At a very young age, Jackson’s mom knew that he would grow up to do great things. At a young thirteen-years old, Jackson served in the militia, which shows his love for the country and how even at a young age, Jackson knew that the USA was his home. This made Jackson a great role model for his brothers and friends, a quality of a good person. Also, his devotion for fighting for what he believed in, shows his selflessness because of the fact that no matter what, he was going to keep fighting. Since Jackson devoted most...
Dancing is something that the Jacksons are just naturally gifted at, not only because of how they execute it, but the way they can tell a story just from their movements. The dance moves in this music video reminded me of a fluid robot. When it comes to Michael Jackson’s legendary moonwalk, it truly embodies what I think of someone from the future. His dance moves resemble to me, what I would think a robot or alien-like lifeform would move like. His dancing is so animative and futuristic, but he completes each move with such ease to the human eye, but that if we were to try it we would fail
Jackson came from nothing, he wasn’t born into fame or money, yet he paved a lifestyle for himself despite the fact of being born into poverty. At the age of only 13 he enlisted into the army. That itself is a sign of onset early bravery. By the time he was 14 he was left with no parents—orphaned and had to independently grown up, and grow up fast. With that being said and dealing with those few tribulations at such a young age instilled strong willed, unpredictable ways into him as a man. He had an overall “don’t mess with me” type persona.
An icon for decades, legend for an eternity, Michael Jackson 's impact on the world continues to thrive as a silhouette amongst pop culture. His music has influenced many people to "Xscape" from the deceptions of all the "Dirty Diana[s]." Yet, his talent has encouraged people to "Scream" through all the "Thriller[s]" they receive as his stardom illuminates the stage as the "Smooth Criminal" of performances. His songs vary from selections that you can "Jam" to, those that promote tough love and adornment, while some are advocates for equality. Jackson is and will remain one of the most profound superstars of his time and one of most dynamic artist in "HIStory."
First, he became the first artist to have obtained a total of eight Grammys at one night during the twenty-sixth Annual Grammy Awards, (Grammys). The thing that is remarkable about this is it very hard just receive one Grammy, but to receive eight you need to be someone very special. Not only did he receive eight Grammys on one night he was also, one out of fifteen individuals to have received the, "prestigious Grammy Legend Award.", (Grammys). Since there was only a total of fifteen awards overall that means only fifteen of the most special or best singers can have received that award, and basically that can be used to conclude that Jackson was one of the most
For a song to become a hit, it needs to sell many copies or be streamed and watched by many people. The 15-minute-long mini-movie, was the costliest music video ever made at that time. This revolutionary act was highly praised and considered a grandiose event. Jackson decided to continue telling stories via his videos, instead of filling a stage with models or show concert footage montage.
John Quincy Adams once said “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” Justin Timberlake started inspiring and helping people at the age 14 when he joined NSYNC. Because of his leadership qualities, artistic skills and humanitarian efforts, Justin Timberlake is a great leader, with good influence on the rest of society.
