It is important for any athlete or coach working with a team to know how to work as one unit to achieve a common goal, rather than trying to pull all the weight alone. Raising over $176,000 for UNI Dance Marathon 2014 would have been impossible for one person to achieve!
During the mid 2000’s until late 2012, media mogul Rupert Murdoch’s newspaper company, News Corp, conceived one the biggest scandals in media history to date. Speculation of phone hacking occurred in November of 2005 when the Royal’s officials reported possible voice mail phone hacking to the police because News of the World released a story about Prince William hurting his knee. The victims of the phone hacking scandal not only included the Royal family but also politicians, celebrities, people who were murdered, and family members of soldiers who died during combat totaling the victim list to 3,870. Michael J. Fox amazed the world in 1985 in the sci-fi film Back to the Future. The timeless motion picture told the story of a teenager, Fox, who traveled back in time in a mission to unite his parents to preserve his future survival. Throughout the film, Fox’s comedic nature ensured the film’s wide acclaim and success. In 1998, Fox publicly announced that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and in 2003, released a book discussing his experience with the disease. In Lucky Man: A Memoir by Michael J. Fox, Fox uses his naturally comedic perspective to show the reader how he has dealt with Parkinson’s Disease in a positive light.
In the case Michael M. v. Superior Court of Sonoma County, the petitioner, Michael M., was charged with statutory rape in the state of California. He then claimed the state’s statute unconstitutionally discriminated against him because he was male. At the time, Michael M. had sex with a 16-year-old girl while he was 17. The young girl was not condemned. He claimed the law violated the Equal Protection Clause stated in the fourteenth amendment of the United States Constitution. This clause says every state has to grant everyone the same rights and conditions as every citizen. The question is, does the statutory rape statute of California violate the Equal Protection Clause?
There exists a group of people who live the final years of their lives in glass boxes. They are perfectly capable of seeing outside, but incapable of reaching out to the world around them. Their emotions can not be shown through facial expression, and as their condition continues, speech also becomes difficult or even impossible. These people are men and women of all races and geographical areas, constituting one percent of the world’s population over 50 years old. Parkinson disease is their affliction. Although Parkinsonism has been around almost as long as recorded history, there is yet to be found a cause or a cure. Medications tame the symptoms and prolong life, but are incapable of reversing the disease progression.. Diagnosis relies exclusively upon clinical signs and symptoms, because almost all laboratory and radiography tests are normal in the Parkinson patient. For this reason early diagnosis is very difficult. The fact that early signs of Parkinsonism can easily be overlooked as normal aging, further complicates diagnosis. Therefore, primary care physicians of the middle-aged and elderly population must be extremely sensitive to patients’ outward appearance and changes in movement ability.
Parkinson disease (PD), also referred to as Parkinson’s disease and paralysis agitans, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that is the third most common neurologic disorder of older adults. It is a debilitating disease affecting motor ability and is characterized by four cardinal symptoms: tremor rigidity, bradykinesia or kinesis (slow movement/no movement), and postural instability. Most people have primary, or idiopathic, disease. A few patients have secondary parkinsonian symptoms from conditions such as brain tumors and certain anti-psychotic drugs.

If I were to be the Chairman, or a member of the Subcommittee and had Michael J. Fox stand before me and speak to me about Parkinson’s and why it should be more than adequately funded, I would personally hand the $75 million to the Udall Parkinson’s Research Act. To say that Mr. Fox’s speech was effective would be an understatement. He was direct, compassionate, and respectful. Aside from verdantly referring to his celebrity status as insignificant in his testimony, throughout the piece Michael J. Fox does not fail to mention how Parkinson’s affects anyone who suffers from the disease. He is nothing but sympathetic. Even when he is alluding to the time when he revealed to the public what he was going through, he includes how the public, especially
