* Develops the annual department strategic plan presentation for the Mental Health department in conjunction with the Director of Mental Health.
* Prepare and present the quarterly Mental Health performance report to the executive leadership team.
* Develops executive briefings for Medical Center leadership regarding Mental Health programs or new initiatives regarding homeless Veteran outreach activities.
* Organizes data in preparation for oversight/accreditation site visits: Joint Commission, Office of Inspector General (OIG), Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and VA specific oversight groups.
* Provide analysis of Mental Health performance data utilizing the Strategic Analytics for Improvement and Learning (SAIL) system, Veterans

OPERATIONS
* Ensure all facility work orders are submitted and completed for Mental Health departments.
* Serve as Chair of the Mental Health Environment of Care subcommittee, which performs bi-monthly walkthroughs of all Mental Health office spaces and evaluating safety risk.
* Participate in activation meetings for Mental Health construction projects.
* Work closely with housekeeping contractors in order to maintain a safe and clean environment for Veterans.
* Utilize Six Sigma Lean strategies to identify and develop process improvements for the care line.
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
* Directs the department budget in order to meet program operations.
* Assist Chief of Finance in reviewing the care line obligations and salary expenses each pay period.
* Approve all purchases for the care line and manage 24 departments accounts.
* Manage the purchase of equipment and ensure all appropriate accounts are funded, obligated and adjustments processed
The organizing function of the manager consists of developing organizational charts, job descriptions, and statement of work flows ( Liebler and McConnell, 2008, p.53). A healthcare department manager must have knowledge of the job functions, job descriptions, and how those relationships impacts, authority, chain-of-command and communication. The new system being put in place for the materials management system should be closely monitored, as it will determine the adaptability of the department. The reformation of the Governing Board can be justified through the successes or failures it creates while going through the restructuring process. It will be important to get feedback from employees and the CEO to see if conflicts arise. The new physical therapy center will continue to be monitored to see if revenues are as high as thought with the expansion of this facility. Overall, it will continue to be a process of monitoring, reevaluating, and gathering appropriate data to determine if the strategic plan being implemented is continuously seeking the values, mission, and vision of the Coastal Medical Center.

Veteran homelessness must be attacked at multiple levels in order to ensure that it does not turn into a revolving door. So beyond simply providing temporary housing support we will also have to improve our veteran’s lives for the long-term. This entails treatment for their PTSD by providing them with access to health and wellness clinics, recovery resources, peer support groups, and individual counseling. The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), role and job description is providing primary mental health care services, to those with mental health problems, or psychiatric disorders. The PMHNP is required to assess, diagnose, provide treatment plans, prescribe medication therapy, and offer counsel across the lifespan. The PMHNP provides care in a wide range of settings to children, adolescents, adults, the elderly, and their families. This mental healthcare takes place in the primary care settings, emergency rooms, hospitals, outpatient mental health clinics, senior living communities and in private practices. Being culturally competent to care for the ever changing demographics of the United States is necessary. The PMHNP assess and treats in a holistic manor and utilizes evidenced based practice. Regardless of race, gender, age, religion, sexual orientation, political persuasion, or socio economic standing the PMHNP is there to treat. The PMHNP role also includes establishing a therapeutic relationship, being sensitive to many abnormal behaviors, and caring for those frequently distressed emotionally. Collaboration and the ability to make referrals are essential for the PMHNP. Patients present with undiagnosed problems and establishing the proper diagnosis by a qualified PMHNP begins with the initial assessment interview (Gilfedder, Barron, & Docherty, 2010).

The overall goal of performance management is to ensure that an organization and its subsystems (processes, departments, teams, etc.), are optimally working together to achieve the results desired by the organization. Performance management has a wide variety of applications including measuring the leader performance, such as, staff performance, business performance, or in health care, health outcome performance measures. To manage and measure performance of leaders are directed to the organizational strategic goals and mission. The primary reason to measure and manage performance of leaders is to drive quality improvement. The Clinical performance of a leader are derived from evidence-based clinical guidelines and measurement allows an evaluation of an important outcome of care for patients, and it is a proxy to understand the effectiveness of the underlying systems of care. Mental Health is a very important, in depth study that needs more support. Identification of mental stressors is a skill everyone should to have to live with increased mental health. New York State Healthy People 2020 has placed Mental Health as a priority, increasing awareness for mental health illness and prevention. Providing care for Healthcare workers is a small fraction of the entirety of mental health issues. Working in the hospital is stressful, caring for others takes a huge mental and emotional toll on providers. Identifying who is most at risk and understanding what is needed to prevent mental disorders is imperative as a healthcare worker. Mental Health is defined by Healthy People 2020 as having participation in productive activities,
