In 2011, Barbara Safriet published an article “Federal options for maximizing the value of Advanced Practice Nurses in providing quality, cost-effective health care” from a legal perspective. The article focused on the benefits of utilizing Advance Practice Nurses to the full extent of their abilities as well as the current barriers that APNs encounter in their practice. The aim of this paper is to discuss two regulatory provisions to full deployment of APNs in current health care system, as well as three principle causes of current barriers to removal of the restrictive provisions for the APN. Furthermore, I will discuss the critical knowledge presented in the article and how it relates the APN practice. This article was incorporated into a two-year initiative was launched Institute of Medicine (IOM) and by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) in 2008 which addressed the urgency to assess and transform the nursing profession.

This is a research paper conducted on the very highly pursuited field of nursing. Nursing is a profession in the healthcare field that focuses or assisting others. Not to mention, nurses are heroes because of the many lives they save every day. This is an example that one doesn’t need tights or a cape to be a hero. Never the less, there are many reasons one may want to become nurse. Some of those reasons may be for personal gain or the greater good. However, before becoming a nurse one needs to be educated about educational requirements, licenses and certifications, projected salaries, and the projected job outlook for the next five – ten years for nursing. This research paper will provide thorough information on those four major aspects of
Both the ADN and the BSN take the same licensing exam, receive the same credentials and often have little pay and benefit distinction (Hess, 1996). What appears to have little difference superficially actually has significant implications on the health of our nation, efficiency of practice, and role nursing plays in the healthcare community. The impact that this difference in degrees has is why the bachelor’s degree in Nursing is the absolute minimum requirement for entry into practice. This can ensure that the field of nursing is a field that is professional, scientifically based, and culturally aware.

There are many benefits to joining a professional organization and individuals become a member for a variety of reasons, but it is typically to advance or advocate for their career (Sullivan, 2001). Professional nursing organizations advocate for their members and nurses in general by providing a powerful influence and the support needed to meet changes in the world of healthcare (Matthews, 2012). According to Haley-Andrews, belonging to a professional nursing organization is important for nurses of all proficiencies. Membership can enhance the career of veteran nurses or play a critical part in creating a successful beginning for new graduate nurses (Haley-Andrews, 2001).
Growing up I always wanted to be a Large animal vet , a fashion designer and even maybe one day be a famous barrel racer but as senior year comes to a end I realize that my aspiration in life is to help people. Now your thinking how to you go from wanting to be a large animal vet to wanting to help people. Well let me tell you, I am a person who can not tell a little girl that I am going to have to put down her horse, yes a large animal vet is an amazing job to have but even though I am scared of needles, I feel like my calling is to be a nurse and furthering my career to be a nurse anesthetist. I have thought how this career will benefit me in my future and how much that I will enjoy it once I am done with school and have settled down. I don't have very many hobbies so I always put learning first and having good grades, so I believe nursing school will be a good hands on learning experience for me. I am a very hands on learner and I love gross stuff like open wounds so the nursing field is perfect for me. I never thought one day that I would be attending a private college in the fall to become a nurse.

Perioperative nursing is a fascinating field within the nursing profession. This field of nursing entails providing patient care during three different stages. These stages consist of providing preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care. Many nurses and nursing students have an interest in this field, and even choose to specialize in the field due to various reasons. It is most often due to a desire to work in a fast-paced environment, experience camaraderie amongst staff, provide compassionate care to those in need, and focus their care on the surgical patient at hand. It is expected that all nurses and nursing students want to be most successful in this specialty field and provide high-quality, optimal care. In order to do this,
This journal is a reflection of my experiences and lessons learned thus far within this course. Upon my reflecting, there were lessons that stood out the most. Also, there are nursing practices in my associate’s degree of nursing program (ADN) that correlates with the standard of care that was recently discussed. This reflection also prompt me to consider more in depth the necessary skills and attributes to become a competent nurse.
As nurses we all been made aware of all the nursing organization that is readily available to us while attending school. I went to the operating room on March 23, 2016 for the Wilkes Community College Nursing Class of 2017 for observation. Another student and I were assigned to this unit from 7:30am-2:00pm. When we got their we changed into the operating room scrubs, placed a bonnet on our heads and placed booties over our shoes. I got to observe three different surgeries, two laparoscopic shoulder surgeries and one ankle surgery. While cleaning the surgical room for the next surgery, I got to communicate with the nurses and surgical team they explained the flow and equipment that was used in the operating room.
