1. McDonald marketing strategy uses a combination of global and local elements. In their global marketing strategy, they focus on standardization. They try to use standardization throughout all McDonald’s so where ever you eat a Big Mac, the customer can expect the same taste, quality and experience. To have professionalism within the workplace, education for McDonald’s is provided by them to teach government health education programs and what the requirements are of the lower skilled workers. In China, I do not think the government officials welcomed McDonalds as much as the Chinese people. For the officials to demand that McDonald’s leave the complex center does not show welcoming. I do think that the people do welcome McDonald’s due to the fact they have over 1,500 restaurants in China and also that they purchase 95% of their supplies from local sources. In India, my thoughts do not think the people welcomed McDonald’s, typically selling Hamburgers, at first since of the Hundi religion prohibiting beef. Since McDonald’s did adapt to the culture and responded to the protests, I would say everyone is more welcoming to having McDonald’s in India. Growing up with McDonald 's, many watched McDonald 's advertise themselves. A considerable amount of children along with adults have either gone or continue to go to an establishment. Have you ever stopped and wondered the reason why people crave fast food so much? Could it be that the food is deliciously intriguing or could it be that fast food has been drilled into the heads of an abundant amount of people? A mass of people grew up with each advertisement every fast food restaurant released, whether the advertisement was on television, on the radio, or printed? Has the craving for McDonalds has been caused by the physiology that goes behind each advertisement?
A world without the Big Mac, Happy Meals, Chicken McNuggets, and the phrase “I’m lovin’ it,” is almost inconceivable. People around the globe have become accustomed to the high gleaming golden arches that make up the famous emblem for McDonald’s. McDonald’s has grasped the concept that culture flows from power. In this case, the American culture flows through the veins of this fast-food giant and the more that is supplied, the greater the demand. McDonald's has become part of America's culture and now the same can be said for the global arena based on the demonstration of growth and continued dominance over competitors. Business Week Magazine even ranked McDonald's as "one of the ten most recognized brands in the world", a position that creates significant opportunities for the company. McDonalds also uses diversification in its global marketing. McDonalds recognizes that different countries have different values, customs, and tastes. Therefore, McDonalds satisfies these diverse global tastes by diversifying the menu according to each country’s unique preferences. Currently the company has 1.5 million workers with 23,500 stores in over 110 countries with the United Kingdom and Germany amongst the corporation’s six biggest markets, and over 12,000 restaurants in the United States. In 1974 the United Kingdom corporation was established and in 1971 the Germany corporation was established, currently the combined corporation has over 900 restaurants and close to 50,000 employees in each of these countries (Royle, 1999).

Fast food outlets actually have been existed from millennia in China, India and ancient Europe. In the past, many people cannot afford to have a kitchen and this becomes the main reason they buy their food in fast food outlets (Reverse Your Age, 2013). The perception of fast food started to change in twentieth century. The first company that change the culture and perception of fast food was McDonald’s, followed by their future competitors such as KFC, Burger King, Wendy’s, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and Subway. As they get a good appreciation from the customers followed by the impact of the globalisation, almost all of the fast food companies have been expanded their restaurant chain in many nations (Wojtek, 2013). Nowadays, with our busy life schedule and the increasing trend where women entering workforce promote an opportunity for the fast food industry to grow bigger. We can see the significant growth from the fast food industry as the industry itself has been generated over $160 billion in 2012 compared to their revenue in 1970 which only around $6 billion (Franchise Help, n.d.). With this significant growth, it does not mean that every company in this industry are successful. Some company has to closed some of their stores due to the lack of environmental research and preparation in entering a new country which commonly lead to the poor selling rate. McDonalds provide high quality products, such as burgers, fries, drinks, muffins, etc, which are safe and reliable that it does what it is supposed to do, but not only does the quality of the products matter, the good value for money affects the business. E.g. buy one extra value meal and get one free with a food voucher that represents the offer only. They ensure that a high standard of the product is carried out at all times and they try to compete very competitively with other fast food businesses with their good value for money. Also a customer would know if the product is good value for money by checking in another food outlet like KFC for their services and products.
