Recommended: Angels as messengers of God
God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth to be the angelic prophet, to interpret the prophetic Word, and to reveal the purposes of God. The angel Gabriel informed Mary that God had chosen her as the virgin in which the Son of God will dwell for nine months and conception will be by the Holy Spirit. Jesus will reside in the womb of a woman who is “thou that art highly favoured.” (Luke 1:28, KJV) The Greek word for this phrase is “charitoo” which is indicative of God preparing Mary as a pure and holy temple to be a living haven for Jesus. The angel Gabriel revealed to Mary the Old Testament prophecy that the Savior of mankind was to be born of a virgin mother.
Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign: Behold, the young woman who is unmarried and a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel [God with us]. (Isaiah 7:14, AMP)

John MacArthur is a well-known and sometimes controversial pastor that holds a strong conservative viewpoint of the Scriptures. As a graduate of Talbot Theological Seminary, MacArthur’s ministry has covered a wide spectrum of Christian fields including pastor, author and radio host. MacArthur currently serves as the Pastor of Grace Community Church in Sunny Valley, California. For over 45 years his pastoral ministry at Grace Community Church has given evidence of a deep abiding love for the exposition of the Scriptures. Beyond his role as pastor, MacArthur serves as the president of the Master’s College and Seminary, which functions to train men to work in various areas of Christian ministry. As a successful author, MacArthur continues to write many books ranging from culturally and theological relevant issues to New Testament expositional commentaries and study guides. Mary Magdalene was a woman who was a mystery to many people for centuries. She was mentioned only a handful of times in the New Testament. Even though she was only mentioned a few times she carried a lot of character. To this day there is not an extended amount of information to help support people’s thoughts and ideas about this woman.
