The quote “I am and always will be the optimist. The hoper of far-flung hopes, the dreamer of impossible dreams.” relates to the two historical figures Martin Luther King Jr. and Orville Wright. Martin Luther King Jr. fought for equal rights for African Americans and to bring equal opportunity to the poor. Orville Wright looked to pursue his dreams of building an airplane that could sustain flight with the help of his brother Wilbur. Both figures fought for these dreams by not letting anything get in the path to their success. King lived this quote by hoping and pushing for equal rights that seemed impossible to the common person to gain. King pushed for the equal rights by using his well known speech “I have a dream” as a pushing force.(Lewis 80) The speech King delivered spoke of the dreams he had for equal rights and this connected many people in a fight against segregation. As many connected he became a leader for those who wished to end segregation.
