Sacrifice. This word explains the main point of the writing done by Dr. Martin Luther King and another text by John F Kennedy. Both of these men explain the sacrifices people had to make, but they both did this in very different ways. This essay will help the reader to get a better understanding of the sacrifices people had to make, and also to show how each of the national leaders portrayed this theme differently. First off, in Dr. King’s document he tries to show people the sacrifices African Americans had to make. He tried to show the reader that because of these sacrifices him and his followers had to make. For example he said, “United there is little we cannot do in host of cooperative ventures. Divided there is little we can do for we dare not to meet a powerful challenge at odds and split asunder.” This quote shows how people had to sacrifice their differences to become one to make their country better. Another thing JFK stated was, “Ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.” JFK tried to explain how people had to make sacrifices for the country to make it better for everyone. This essay told about the sacrifices that MLK and JFK wrote about, and it showed how they affected everyone. Many people back then were forced to do things they didn´t want to, but then there were people who would sacrificed their lives so people would have the rights of everyone. That is what Dr.King want to show people, that if they gave up some things in the long run they would have a better life.
