However arranged marriages do still exist. Some people favor love over arranged and suggest that it is more successful than arranged marriages. Studies have shown that men and women in both types of marriage reported high levels of satisfaction, commitment, and passionate and companionate love. South and East Asia, the Middle East, and South America who were all once very strict on arranged marriage seem to be backing out of it. Studies showed that the men have higher levels of passionate and companionate love for their spouses and commitment to their marriages than did the women in arranged marriages. A recent study examining Indian couples in arranged marriages, and U.S. couples of love marriages revealed that in terms of marital satisfaction, the two groups are very similar. According to Dr. William Cornell, a Marriage and Counselor professor at the University of Florida, “Culture plays a large role in deciding whether a love marriage is better than an arranged marriage- it is all a matter of perspective.” (To Love or to Arrange? 3) Due to cultural differences, it is difficult to say which form of marriage is the best. However, love and arranged marriage, both have benefits to them. In arranged marriages there are less incompatibilities such as same religion, caste, dietary preference, linguistic group, socioeconomic background, etc. In a love marriage, there is individual autonomy, meaning that it 's your life, so you choose who you want to spend it with. The two individuals also know one another well. At the end it all depends on what background the person comes from. There really isn’t one that is better than the other. It all depends on the two individuals ability to adjust and understand one
According to the author, Lizette Alvarez, in the article “Arranged Marriages Get a Little Reshuffling”, Arranged marriages are better than modern marriages and parents can choose good mates for young. First, the arranged marriage has changed a lot in modern time. Arranged marriages are more flexible because young people can meet several times in some public venues without family members. Parents and elders have become more lenient. Second, arranged marriages have more advantages than modern marriages. Arranged marriages can preserve religion and identity and help people to find their mates in the same social class. Arranged marriages can outlast modern marriages because couples can avoid social and religions disharmony. Finally, young people prefer arranged marriage to modern marriage. Young people would spend less time to find their mate because their parents, chat rooms and dating websites help find mates for them. Young people can easily find their mates who have the same education level and social status. As a young person, I do not agree with the author because other people migh...

Marriage has changed more over the last 30 years than the previous 3,500 years. As
Marriage is the legal or formally recognized union of a man and a woman, or two people or the same sex as partners in a relationship. Marriage rates in the United States have changed drastically since the last 90’s and early 2000 years (Cherlin 2004). Marital decline perspective and marital resilience perspective are the two primary perspectives and which we believe are the results from the decline. The marital decline perspective is the view that the American culture has become increasingly individualistic and preoccupied with personal happiness (Amato, 2004). The change in attitudes has changed the meaning of marriage as a whole, from a formal institution

However, there is evidence of a positive correlation between love and the length of an arranged marriage (Epstein, Pandit, & Thakar, 2013). Furthermore, the authors summarized previous research findings in which researchers found arranged marriages had a higher level of satisfaction than love marriages in modern civilizations. The fact that both of these trends have come up shows that some western arguments against arranged marriages are founded upon inaccurate
Slave marriages among other slaves and slave owners have always placed a social burden on the plantations and the government of the United States. What were the social issues that occurred as slaves had relations with other slaves or their masters? Government scandals, black salve owners, and law changes have all came about as part of the social discrepancies that came along with slave relations. Biographies of William Ellison, the first African American slave owner, will be scrutinized to see the social implications of a slave master owning slaves of the same ethnicity. Personal Journals written about the Thomas Jefferson and Sally Heming's case will be analyzed to see the government scandal placed on Jefferson’s slave relations. These social issues helped play out the course of slavery in the United States of America.
Are marriages the same in modern time as they were in the early and middle 1800’s? Today, society allows a much more significant value on marriage than there was in the early 1800’s. Early in the 19th century, women knew when they would get married that they would be financially provided for the rest of their lives, protected from the outside world, and be viewed as having filled society's ultimate role for woman. That ultimate role was being a companion to a man who made a house into a loving home. Men looked forward to marriage because it gave them a companion who would support them for the rest of their lives. In the modern 21st century usually men and women would wait until their early to mid twenties to get
According to recent statistics, there are more divorces now than ever before. At the rate things are going, the divorce rate may soon surpass the marriage rate. There are many reasons for such a high divorce rate, but one of the main ones is that people do not realize what they are getting themselves into when they marry. Couples do not realize that marriage is a job that must be worked at continuously in order for it to go well. Because many couples marry for the wrong reasons, a breakdown in communication results, which leads to a couple's growing apart. This process, all too often, ends in divorce.
Arranged marriages have been around for a while and they still are. In some countries arranged marriages are actually tradition but it is wrong to arrange a marriage for necessity instead of love. Did you know that arranged marriages can be annulled? You can legally annul your arranged marriage with a legal court session. With arranged marriages, you hurt your children more than help them. By marrying them at a young age, they don't get much education. Arranged Marriages are cruel because people deserve the choice of who they marry and a chance of love.
When we think of marriage, the first thing that comes to mind is having a lasting relationship. Marriage is a commitment of two people to one another and to each other?s family, bonded by holy matrimony. When a couple plans to marry, they think of raising a family together, dedicating their life to each other. That?s the circle of life--our natural instinct to live and produce children and have those children demonstrate your own good morals. I have never been married; but I don?t understand why when two people get married and vow to be together for richer and poorer, better or worse, decide to just forget about that commitment. A marriage should be the most important decision a person makes in his or her life.
...eing married, Marriage used to really be something that lasted until you died however, now marriage aren’t a lifetime commitment. Finally the other reason Stanton says that marriage is deteriorating is because it has become re-definable. He means that marriage used to always be between and male and a female but now society is pushing for same gender marriages to be recognized. These changes certainly have an impact on the way our society treats the sacred union of marriage. Regardless of what marriage has become the research definitely shows an evolution of the term marriage.
What is Marriage? Marriage is when people are being united together as husband and wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by the law. Marriage hasn’t always been how it is now, where women have a say in family problems, and where woman have the right to choose whom they want to marry. Marriage wasn’t because you loved someone, but it was always because people wanted to preserve power. Now in the marriage, people marry, because they love each other, and because they want to make an effort to spend the rest of their lives together.
Most women have a natural desire to create a strong and functional family with their husband. This desire can be defined as family commitment. Additionally, it outlines how these two things work together to meet the need of the husband and wife individually and as a couple.

Love is the pure feeling of attachment. Arrange marriage is like a blind date in hopes to find love.
