Spending a part of my afternoon sitting in The Marketplace was a pretty interesting half an hour. While observing people, awkwardly I may add, I saw some very different ways people reacted to things. To start off, I observed many different behaviors from two things I was gathering information on. I watched how people picked out their utensils and I also watched how people walked into The Marketplace by themselves and with a group. While observing both of these actions, I have never really realized how some people perform when they are not being watched. I picked The Marketplace to observe people because I figured that would be the easiest place to sit back, relax, and stalk. I watched two types of people; people that walked in alone and people who walked in with groups. These results actually did not surprise me; I imagined these behaviors from people. I first witnessed people walking in alone. I did not pay attention to any particular person; I view them all. These were the behaviors I noticed; looked around, walked slowly, looked for familiar people, one sat at a table by themselves, goes on their phone, walks around, sits and joins a random table, looks really nervous, calls their friends to meet up with them, listens to music, and talks to cafeteria people. It is almost like the people that walk in by themselves have anxiety. The last behavior I watched was when people came in with a group. They acted very differently than the people who walked in alone. Some groups of people walked in laughing, talking, and some were quiet. They have a type of “clique” because they mimic each other. They did things in groups and followed each other; they walked together, waited in line together, went to their table together, ate together, did their homework together, and they all looked around together. The people that walked in together appeared to have more confidence than the people that walked in
