Marijuana: The Devil's Lettuce or God’s Cabbage?

Trying to implement a mandatory attendance policy at the university would be a terrible idea. The students should have to make a decision whether or not to come to class on their own initiative, not only to teach them to be responsible for their own actions but would also weed out the students who were not really focused on learning. Most college students have never been subject to the real world and many need to learn that they have to do things own their own without any outside influence because in most situations once out on their own no one will be looking over their shoulder to make sure they go to work or even meet any other required appointments. School is not a right it is a privilege and people need to realize that if learning is not taken seriously there can be extreme consequences.
American society has started to take education for granted. Today it is so easy for most anyone to afford or to be accepted into a college that you wind up with people being here to socialize instead of learn and that leads to a decline in overall performance because it turns the atmosphere away from learning and into more of a four year party before the real world. Society seems to show college as a next step, almost if its a responsibility instead of a choice which hurts not only themselves but at the same time serving as a distraction for the people who are aspiring to do something better with their life. These dedicated individuals deserve better than to be forced into an environment where they are subjugated to a mass of people who would rather party than learn. ...and ultimately the development of each and every student who needs to be taught how to be productive members of society who do not have to rely on outside influence, but can be independent adults when they graduate.
