Marie Curie’s discovery of radium transformed science, medicine and roles of women throughout history. She was inspired by science and wanted to learn and teach. Her perseverance led to the most influential discoveries of history. Everyday life would be entirely different without her discoveries and impact on women. “Marie Curie was a woman of firsts. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the first person to win two of them, and the first of only two people to win a Nobel Prize in two different fields. She coined the term ‘radioactivity’, discovered two elements, and became the first female professor at the University of Paris” (Gaylord csmointer.com).

“The life of Marie Curie demonstrates that one person can make a difference in the world. She overcame obstacles of poverty, fear, depression, discrimination, personal grief, and public humiliation to accomplish groundbreaking scientific work” (McClafferty114). Marie Curie had a rough childhood and was unable to go school because she was a girl. Her dream was to go to school and learn about science. Instead of giving up on her dream, she taught herself and ended up having an opportunity to go to college. Through her education, she discovered polonium and radium. She later received two Nobel Prizes and became the first female professor at the University of Paris. She dedicated the majority of her life to science and helping society.

They wanted to get an education and pursue careers. Not only was she educated and working, she raised her family and taught her children. Marie Curie spent the majority of her life to science and the rest to helping people. She made speeches to groups of women and helped soldiers at war.
Without Marie Curie and her discoveries and perseverance to be outstanding, our lives would not be the same. Our entire way of treating patients in hospitals would be different. Manufacturing consumer products would be less efficient. Fewer women would be in science and medicine work fields. Scientific discoveries have been made due to the discovery of radium. Thus, Marie Curie has made large impact on how we live everyday.
