It is a very selfless act to volunteer for any one of these positions. Performing a year of national or community service could open the minds of many young people. It could have the potential to show them new meanings of life, how others live their life, how we should never take things for granted and many more. No, I don't think that eighteen year-olds should be forced to do services, but I do believe they should definitely be supported. There are many types of civil service programs. There are community services, national services, and international services. There is the Big Brother and Big Sister program, which is a program designed to help and better children across the nation. With the permission of parents, kids team up with volunteers and professionals to influence their lives for the better(Big Brothers Big Sisters). The Peace Corps is a program that I see was developed with extreme courage, and it's an organization that I respect immensely. The Peace Corps is designed to take people around the world to help communities, villages, and people in need(Peace Corps). Situations in one's personal life can have a major alter on how they live, whether that is temporary or not. For example, if there was a young adult and someone in their family or someone that they loved was sick, I wouldn't expect them to leave. If a family is having financial troubles or in someway, there was a religious issue of an eighteen year-old leaving to do such services, and it couldn't be done.
