The author Sean Cahill in the article “Make America sick Again” makes a valid point about insurance for the LGBT community. The LGBT community suffers most when it comes to health insurance. The LGBT community started looking up when Barack Obama was elected into office. He legalized same sex marriages and input nondiscrimination regulations covering healthcare and education. When Donald Trump was elected as president in 2017, he started changing things. Trump have different views when it comes to the LGBT community. In the LGBT community HIV and AIDS are among transgender and individuals stand to lose more because of their pre-existing conditions. However, the patient protection and affordable care act helped millions of individuals that were uninsured to gain access to health insurance this benefited the LGBT community greatly. He does not have the same respect that the former President Obama has. Obama was working towards making the LGBT community safer. Obama was in agreeance to have transgender individuals to have their own bathroom facilities set up to which gender they prefer to be in schools and public places. This was a great move. This helps elderly individuals with HIV to get the treatment they require. They may require more treatment due to their age. The treatment may be a little on the expensive side as well. The absence of health insurance can be a major problem in the community. The lack of insurance causes a lack of preventive care. A lack of preventive care causes unnecessary deaths. It’s like a domino effect. About a year ago the American Healthcare Act was passed. This healthcare act took the place of the ACA. The American Healthcare Act would cut the funds on medical care, cut Medicaid expansion and opt out of covering individuals with preexisting conditions such as HIV, AIDS, Cancer and preventive
