Step 1: Identify problems to address
Transferring to a four year university from a local community college can become very stressful and challenging. One is exposed to a new atmosphere that many times feels overwhelming. As for the transfer process, it can become very confusing, but one believes that the councilors have the capability of guiding and direct you in the right direction. Winston-Salem State University is a great school, that offers many opportunities, but as for the purpose of this macro change plan process I will focus on the communication between departments. I have experience during my transfer process the lack of communication between advisors and the requirements of each major. Implementing a process in which after meeting with one’s general advisor assigned over the summer the student also needs to meet with their department of interest to review the requirements. I believe this problem is serious enough to merit a macro change. While conducting research many transfer students have informed me and expressed to me the lack of communication and information when transferring the Winston-Salem State

Within my own personal macro environment I will try to utilize resources and become informed as much as possible about the transfer process.
My primary goal for this macro change is to try to get transfer students informed and try to let them know they are able to speak to someone with in their desired major or interest. As I have stated before many students are blind sited by this process, many times not asking questions about requirements, or not knowing what to ask. As this process starts I hope to eliminate all of this confusion and make this process very clear and simple.
Step 4: Identify Relevant People of
This shift in university life has caused the emergence of a more focused and hard-working student body. There are those from past generations who will look at the happenings of colleges today and ridicule this change. And even after moving through the nostalgic haze that surrounds the memories of the past, the differences can still be seen, but it should be known that today's students are just adapting to the system that has already been established for them. This systematic change is to be expected. Considering that the world is not the same as it was in the 1960s, why would we assume that an institution would be exactly the same as it was
I would hope to allow myself to distinguish myself from other students and make myself more prevalent and outstanding in my specific classes. As I would like to purse a degree in Psychology with a minor in Criminology, I would like to become an ‘All around Psychologist’ dabbling in numerous sections of the ‘Psychology life.’ It is my belief that this HBCU would give me all mental and educational tools that will aid me in being the best in my chosen field. It is not that I do not like the educational system at my current university, it is just that i feel as though I can excel beyond measures at my new university coming this Spring.
I hope to leave NC State as a young adult who is ready and prepared to enter society with a determined mindset and hard work ethic. I believe that I will be perfectly capable of achieving my goals and and aspirations as an NC graduate, and will graduate with the experience to take on challenges that may await me in a future career. Although I am still unsure of my desired field of study, I am confident that I will be able to discover a career path I will enjoy through the Exploratory Studies college. I am excited to enroll as an undergraduate student at NC State, and look forward to the opportunities ahead of me in the college of Exploratory
After being on the road for three years, I decided to check into returning to college at the University of Delaware and the University of Pennsylvania. Both universities informed me that I would have to retake my first two years that I had completed at Chattanooga State. I would have to commit for another four to six years of college. I did not have the time to do this. I wanted to be finished with my bachelor?s degree within two years if possible. So, later, when they realize that their choices are limited, their futures sealed or semi-gelled, they decide that school is where they need to be (Smith, 2001).
When I chose to go to Rockville, Montgomery college, I found that they didn 't offer a psychology major. I got upset about the fact that they didn’t have a psychology major. But I soon acknowledged that if I was able to go to the University of Maryland. I would be able to pursue a psychology major. There are reasons to why they might not offer particular majors at a community college such a budget and resources. Since community colleges would be free for people to apply to, it would be harder to transfer to a four-year university. The reason why it would be harder to transfer to a four-year university is because universities will have higher expectations for students. Universities would expect students to have a high GPA, take part in a lot of activities and be in the honor
While I wish finding my way around the school was my only problem, I was faced with some internal challenges. As the school year started, my friends slowly started to leave to these “big shot” colleges or simply move away to other community colleges. I, too, wanted the complete “college experience” somewhere in Arizona or across the country; yet I felt stuck and unaccomplished. I also felt jealousy which could have been because I did not get to decorate my dorm room. While talking about dedicating hard work to your education, Gina Rodriguez said “Just remember, during those times of fear and doubt, that you are right now discovering your true strength.” And in those times of doubt, I reminded myself why I could not just move and leave everything behind. The root of my challenges and concerns are my family. As I enrolled as a full time student, my family was fighting some financial problems which created marriage troubles for my parents. I could not leave at a time like this. I knew it was not the first time my parents were talking divorce but somehow I knew it was best to stay. I got financial aid from the school which saved me the fuss of asking my parents for money. It really meant so much to not put another worry on their
Often times when one hears the word “change” in any aspect of life, they are often, put off, and intimidated by the word itself and the intended implication. This is a normal and understandable reaction for anyone engaging in any type of change. In terms of organizational change, this type of behavior often seen as, but is not limited to pushback, resistance, lack in productivity, turnover, drop in overall customer service, etc by team members. Thus, as organizational leaders, it is our responsibility to ensure that any change management implemented is smooth and has lasting benefits; by considering the impact on the organization as a whole and most importantly, the impact it will have on the team members within the
I look forward to attending graduate school for school counseling. Attending the University of North Carolina will allow me the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to aid students facing a variety of difficult situations. I am ready to take the next step in my career as a school counselor.
The first semester of college I took a sociology class and I realized the social aspect of that major also interested me greatly if not more. After taking a psychology careers class I realized that they didn’t really have the sort of work I want to go into. Which pushed me into doing research my first year of college on careers, I realized the goal should be to work toward a social work degree. However, McKendree University doesn’t have a strong social work program and that is why I decided I would have a better chance if I transferred to a different
If Bobby is new to the university, I understand he is coming to a new environment, most likely never had a roommate, and probably making his own choices for the first time. I will use this information to help the student find their own voice because it is crucial for their success after college. Employers want graduates who are able to critically think for themselves and are able to regulate their emotions. Knowing the transition theory can help me with defining their identity and assist the students in finding healthy coping
Meanwhile, I would transfer to attend the University of Texas at Arlington. Once I start the school year, I am going to surround myself with young people, who are motivated, caring and determined, too successful in their academics as well as their personal lives. I want to strengthen my communication skills, study harder, and improve my time management skills. And maintain myself there to obtain my Bachelor Science Degree and can go deeper and higher level status in my career field. I choose to apply to this Honors Program, because I like to be challenged and I work hard for what I want to
I chose to pursue a degree in Social Work because I have a deep passion for helping people figure things out and get back on track. I have always tried to help people in the simplest ways without being over intrusive and giving them the respect and dignity they deserve. As a teen I found joy in the slightest things like helping people fill out and submit job applications, filling out medical forms, and explaining to them the process for things such as obtaining Medicaid, food stamps, their food handlers card and even on where and how to apply for your driver’s license. These things may seem trivial but I guarantee that for many people this was a huge help. Working with people is not just something that happens; first you have to want to help people and be patient and understanding with the people who you are helping and that does not happen overnight, second, you must be able to recognize your own limitations and know when to refer someone to qualified professionals.
Planning is an essential process in today’s organizations. Based on the three types of managers: top-level (strategic managers), middle-level (tactical managers), and frontline (operational managers), exist three corresponding levels of planning: strategic, tactical, and operational. The purpose of this essay is to focus on the strategic level of planning for the Ford Motor Company; a leader in the global automobile industry. Strategic planning, according to Bateman and Snell (2009), “involves making decisions about the organization’s long-term goals and strategies” (p. 137). This paper will elaborate on six key influential factors: economic, environmental, competition, foreign policy, domestic policy, and innovation; that shape this corporation’s strategic plan. Finally, a SWOTT analysis will be conducted covering the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats, and trends, that the Ford Motor Company has in relation to its business environment.
The transition from high school to college is one of the most impactful experiences to take place in an individual’s life. From high school, a place of rules and regulations, to college, a place of independence and self-awareness, there is a noticeable difference in the atmosphere. In other words, college sets a tone of liberation for the student, not to say that there are no more rules or regulations anymore. A student’s success in college is determined by how much he or she puts into the experience as a whole. This type of success involves a number of skills such as time-management, setting goals, and prioritizing, to name a few. Along with these observations, the transition from high school to college is seen as a transition from childhood to adulthood, literally. As an adult, the real world setting starts to make it’s way into the college atmosphere, where the student is on his or her own and is responsible for his or her own actions. This is, by far, the most beneficial aspect of transitioning from high school to college, the real world experience.
I wanted to continue my career abroad. Therefore, I made a detailed research and ended up going to the United States because of its worldwide reputation in academics. My initial research showed me that Southern part of United States would be most education friendly due to social, climate and financial reasons. Besides, a field like Public Administration requires one to be involved in a more diverse environment as it is any government’s job to provide service to its citizens from diverse background. Grambling State University, with its diverse environment and friendly atmosphere was the most suitable one. Due to this reason, after completing the English as Second Language Program of ELS center in Ruston, I applied to Grambling State University. At the beginning I was required to take some undergraduate level classes to improve my knowledge and skills. I have successfully completed fifteen cou...
