The above statement was taken from Laura McRoberts’ article named as “The personal and political implications of Machiavelli’s The Prince”. The article or research paper talks about the advises of Machiavelli given to Prince in order to rule a smooth Princedom. All the motivations given in the book was merely about political implications. But there are certain elements that also talk about personal implications in sense of it is for an individual too. not only for Kingdom or how to rule but also for the opportunities place before each individual. The article gives controversial arguments like the discussion of Church, Pope Julius and Cesare Borgia.

In the same chapter, Machiavelli states :
“Fortune has placed in their lap, and can lay these foundations after they rise which by others are laid before”
Whether it’s a prince fortune he get a princedom, or from others, fortune he gets a princedom, it’s his mind and skills and his expertise that will protect him and allow him to rule more.
Then Laura talks about human nature in a prince, that struggle of human nature lies with self-interest. And she talks about Machiavelli thoughts that according to him, human nature go for strategy mot for planning.
In Chapter-3 , “Of Mixed Princedom” he states:
“Men are quick to change ruler when they imagine they can improve their lot”
Common people know their way to change their prince and they will go against their prince if they don’t like him. In the same chapter he says that men are unwise, senseless and irrational. They don’t have the capability of knowing what is actually best for them.

In simple words, it is the part of human nature to say “NO” , to oppose an idea whether its refer towards politics or personal. Laura use the words reactionary that “Every action has a Reaction”. Reaction can be of having similar idea but also can be of opposing ideas. In The Prince, Machiavelli states that many time, people are not ok with the decision of Prince so they give a reaction.
