Logging Forests in Canada
Logging forests, is it good? Is it bad? I can say that it both has good and bad effects, but unfortunately the negative effects outway the positive. First off, you might be wondering, what are Logging Forests? It is when people or machines cut down trees in any given area, which can be used mostly for economical purposes. Unfortunately, there are way more environmentally based concerns for this topic. It is not sustainable, causes a lot of pollution, and there is a loss of biodiversity.
Canada should not continue to log Canada’s forests because it is not sustainable. It cuts down every tree in a given area. This leaves not enough trees to regenerate themselves. On top of that, trees are not being planted after they are cut down, so the number of trees in Canada will decrease. The Earth was full of forests in the last century, and now 80% of forests have been cut down. This is a huge problem because trees provide a lot of oxygen, and if there are not a lot of trees, there won’t be enough oxygen produced. Since Canada’s population is increasing, there will be a need for more oxygen. If Canada continues to log forests the way that they are, there would not be enough oxygen. A solution to this would be to plant trees after they are cut down, to maintain the number of trees and forests

there are in Canada. Logging forest is not just unsustainable, it also causes a lot of pollution.
To log trees more efficiently, people use machines that cause a lot of pollution. The burning of fossil fuels needed to operate a wood chopper machine makes the pollution worse. When trees are cut down, they release a lot of carbon dioxide into the air, that has been stored in them. Carbon dioxide is the most prevalent greenhouse gas, so when trees are cut down they produce greenhouse gasses. These things lead to loss of forests that you can’t get back because of the pollution. If we can somehow advance the technology, we can reduce the amount of pollution caused by logging
trees. Finally, Canada should not continue to log Canada’s forests because it results in a loss of biodiversity. It cuts down too much vegetation and trees in a land. Because of the logging, vegetation is ruined, so the animals are forced to relocate. They need to go to different areas to survive once the vegetation is gone. The animals habitats are also getting destroyed because of so many trees being cut down. This can lead to animal extinction because of all of the vegetation and habitats getting ruined. If we can be willing to put in the effort to rebuild and try to replace what was lost, we can solve this problem. In conclusion, it can be seen that Canada should not continue to log forests the way that we are now. It leads to unsustainability, it causes pollution, and there is a loss of biodiversity. There are solutions to these problems, we just have to be willing to pursue them. Furthermore, Canada should not develop this resource the way that we are now.

Dheeraj Patel Journey Around Canada 2. How do the natural characteristics of Canada influence human activity, and how might human activity influence Canada’s natural characteristics? (B1) In the Central part of Canada there are many different human activities that affect natural characteristics. In the Central part of Canada there are many interior plains landforms.
Once forests began to be viewed as beneficial, it opened up a whole new lifestyle. The forests and nature might have been an evil and scary place, but it was a place filled with resources and opportunity. Settlers began using trees and wood in a plethora of ways. Not only was it used for families own use, many began logging forests as a business; a very profitable business at that. Once wood started being used for beneficial purposes, a snowball effect occurred by the settlers to cut down every tree in sight and turn it into a profit.
Governments in these countries need to stop thinking of forests as a renewable resource. The rate at which they are harvesting these areas drives them beyond the boundaries of sustainability. The efforts required by reforestation may not initially be cost effective, but it will result in not only the survivability of the environment, but of the country’s economy. Widespread awareness of these ideas will help fight against the natural human tendency towards instant gratification and short-term goals. Different methods of logging can be utilized to allow the rainforests to survive and regrow naturally and at a sustainable
...the improvement in machinery. However, if they were just based on technological improvements, there would not be a continual rise and fall in the logging industry. These periods of increased logging have drastic affects on the environment, today, just like one hundred years ago. More importantly, the growth in technology has led to the reduction of workers. In my opinion, it seems that now we are dealing with the big capitalist pull. Individual companies are buying these forests just to log. For the most part, they are the ones that are reaping the benefits, while destroying habitats for people and animals alike. Thereby changing the relationship of those who work in the industry and that of environmentally conscience society.
Forests cover 31% of the land area on our planet. They produce vital oxygen and provide homes for people and wildlife. Many of the world’s most threatened and endangered animals live in forests, and 1.6 billion people rely on benefits forests offer, including food, fresh water, clothing, traditional medicine and shelter (drug war facts, Page 1).
Logging in the United States is a very controversial subject. Many people have different opinions on how we should take care of our forests and sometimes the arguments can get heated. Logging needs to be done to protect small western communities from catastrophic wild fires. Logging also gives small communities a way of income. When people think of logging they think of clear cutting which is damaging to the environment, but clear cutting does not happen too much on the national forests. The Forest Service has strict guidelines in which they follow to make sure the forest will stay healthy for years to come. Logging must be done with wildlife, human effects of the forest, and the health of the forest in mind. Logging can ultimately liberate small towns in the forest from fire danger and liberate the towns from having to depend on surrounding communities for a way of income. The forest and animals are also liberated from dense forest which can suffocate animals and plants. The animals are provided with more food with grasses after logging has accrued. Logging if done right is great for the forest and towns that are in the middle of the woods.
...lain Canada is headed in the wrong direction, with projections for growing emissions and no stated plan to prevent the increase. While it could be argued that the increase in global temperatures will make places such as the Hudson Bay- Arctic Lowlands more habitable, Canada as a whole must think on what matters more: material gain or a healthy and survivable planet.
Taking wood from rainforests and old-growth forests is detrimental to the environment and society. However, it is possible for us to have sustainable wood if we make an effort.
Environmental issues affect every life on this planet from the smallest parasite to the human race. There are many resources that humans and animal needs to survive; some of the most obvious resources come from the forests. Forests make up a large percentage of the globe. The forests have global implications not just on life but on the quality of it. Trees improve the quality of the air that species breath, determine rainfall and replenish the atmosphere. The wood from the forests are used everyday form many useful resources. Moreover, thinning the forests increases the amount of available light, nutrients and water for the remaining trees. Deforestation (forest thinning) is one of the most critical issues of environmental problems that are occurring today.
On average millions of hectares of forests are destroyed each year resulting in severe consequences that will affect not only our lifestyle, but also all the animals with which we share our planet. Many species of animals and plants will become extinct and if we continue with the destruction of our forests, earth will be unable to sustain life.
What is also becoming increasingly clear is the effect that forests have on the climate and the climate has on forests, and how changes in one system will affect the other. Losing forest makes it worse. Clearing forests also releases large amounts of carbon dioxide. Worldwide deforestation means we don’t have as many trees to absorb the extra CO2. This means more of it stays in the atmosphere, trapping more heat. Forest are cut down for many reasons, but most of them are related to money or to people’s need to provide for their families. The biggest driver of deforestation is agriculture. Farmers cut forest to provide more room for planting crops or grazing livestock. Often many small farmers will each clear a few acres to feed their families by cutting down trees and burning them in process known as “ slash and burn” agriculture. Therefore, not all deforestations is intentional. Some is caused by a combination of human and natural factors like wildfires and subsequent overgrazing, which may prevent the growth of young trees. Deforestations has many negative effects on the environment. The most dramatic impact is a loss of habitat for million of species. So seventy percent of Earth’s land animals and plants live in forest, and many cannot survive the deforestation that destroy their homes. A more workable solution is to carefully manage
Logging is a noble and difficult profession; the success is measured by the number of lumber produced and number of lives that are spared in the cause of producing the lumber. It has continued in this way for several generations, timber is cut, collect, and moved out of the wood for post processing. Deep in the woods, loggers cut trees and produce lumber, the work is back breaking and dangerous, a falling timber can crush and kill. The machines involved in cutting down trees, the method of operation, government safety standard and regulations relating to wood logging industry have all evolved over time since the existence of the industry. But even with more sophisticated equipment and machineries, wood logging remains brutal and a tough job.

One of the most evident problems associated to the environment is the issue of the logging of trees, mainly in undisturbed places such as the Amazon basin. Trees are considered the lungs of the Earth. They recycle all the polluting carbon in the air and return oxygen back into our atmosphere, creating a stable cycle of carbon in our atmosphere. However, the impeccable rates which trees are being cut down in our forests have grown to ever increasing and alarming rates. Trees that are made way for farming are burnt up releasing deadly amounts of carbon and thus leading to the problem of global warming. As its names suggest the world is slowly warming up and without any notice the environment which God has gave us will be slowly eradicated. The daily lives which humans carry on about every day are also a factor influencing on our environment and global warming. By driving cars that have a thirst for petrol we are releasing carbon dioxide and furthermore impacting on the world?s climate. In Australia environmental impact has always been evident. Land clearing especially in places such as Queensland has caused land to lay dry and lifeless where all forms of life is destroyed. By clearing land we are not only affecting our climate but are also destroying animal habitat and the usage of the land. Senseless actions by commuters in Australia, emitting tons and tons of lethal gases vulnerable to the atmosphere are starting to take its toll on our climate. We are seeing a harsher climate and at the same time less rain. If we want to preserve our world we must take a stance on this issue and take action for what is right, not carrying on the actions that will lead to a desolate, destroyed Earth.
