Media has alway been important today and back then. Media helped shed light on problems that need to be addressed. This is what happened in the 60s during Jim Crow. In little rock, a few high school students took a big stand. They had the apply to go to central high school, it was a bigger thing than they thought it was. This caused a big media uproar as well as the realize that the world can be full of hate. I think media helped because it got others to see what's happening somewhere else and how it can let others see the true in what's happening in the world. I think media helped because it got others to see what's happening somewhere else. Like in the book “Little Rock Girl by Shelley Tougas,” the media shed light on the torment 15-years - old Elizabeth Eckford had to go through just to get to school. Also, on page 57 of a Mighty Long Way, it says “ The ads ask questions that seem to reveal the underlying source of all the fear: Would black boys and white girls be allowed to dance together at school dances? What black boys and white girls be paired in romantic love scenes in …show more content…
Little rock was not just a U.S problem, It spread across the globe because of media. Like in the book “Little Rock Girl by Shelley Tougas,” a photograph showed us Elizabeth Eckford walking into Center School surrounded by and you see a white girl around her age yell out “Go home nigger, go back to Africa”. This showed many people even across the globe that their hatred across the world. I think media helped because it got others to see what's happening somewhere else and how it can let others see the true in what's happening in the world. Media has the ability to convey powerful messages to the world. It also can prove there's good things and bad things that cannot be avoided and what needed to be addressed. Media was a big part of the civil rights movements in the
It has become a tool to provide a positive voice, influence, and opportunity to reach people you may have never been able to reach before. I don't argue that all media usage is negative , I theorize the way our community has chosen to use it hasn’t been solely positive. In closing, our media has negatively reshaped our culture inadvertently. It has changed our focus away from the real responsibilities of life, provided another world for people to hide behind and also made many people overly paranoid to the negative things. In stand for development, I would suggest people to use Media has an additional voice, not another identity. Also, for its producers to really understand its influence and realize the positive influence they can create on our society by simply using it in the right way. In direction to its consumers, I would suggest to not only consume media ; To open the eyes and focus back to the things that are unrelated to keyboards, tv and everything
An Eyewitness History,” its “effect would ripple across the nation and influence the growing Civil Rights Movement;” in addition, the Little Rock crisis forced the federal government to come down on state government in order to protect the rights of African Americans. In September 1957, nine African American high school students set off to be the first African American students to desegregate the all white Central High School. The six agirls and the three boys were selected by their brightness and capability of ignoring threats of the white students at Central High. This was all part of the Little Rock school board’s plan to desegregate the city schools gradually, by starting with a small group of kids at a single high school.
Also, although Little Rock was seen as a success, as the President was behind the blacks, after the incident was over, Governor Faubus closed all schools in Little Rock until 1959 as he would prefer there to be no schools than desegregated schools. This shows that there was always a way for the whites to get around desegregation without much attention being paid to it.
Little Rock, Arkansas is going to be remembered forever. This remembrance is dedicated to nine African American students taking a stand in order to have an education at Little Rock Central High School. In 1957, the first group of African Americans, the Little Rock Nine, were forced to stand outside Little Rock Central High School and prohibited from trying to enter. Governor Orval Faubus of Arkansas had sent the state to forbid them from going in. The Little Rock Nine consisted of Ernest Green, Elizabeth Eckford, Jefferson Thomas, Terrence Roberts, Carlotta Walls LaNier, Minnijean Brown, Gloria Ray Karlmark, Thelma Mothershed, and Melba Pattillo.
Even though Arkansas was extremely segregated like all of the other southern states, an NAACP member said that this state would be the “brightest prospect among the southern states for integration”. The University of Arkansas was the first southern university to choose to have a black student attend their school. The relationship between blacks and whites was decent for a southern state at this time. In Little Rock, the state capital, a little bit of integration had been made in public places. Some of the stores in downtown Little Rock took the signs off of drinking fountains; also, the city zoo and the library started a little bit of integrating (Kirk). A major step for desegregation in Little Rock was the integration of city buses. There were no problems with the desegregation of city buses. Integrating schools in Little Rock was a whole different story.
In summary, if social media as we know it today were used during the era of Black Arts, it could have possibly both helped and hindered the Black Arts Movement. Social media could have possibly helped the movement in many ways. If social media as we know it today were used during the era of Black Arts, it could also possibly hinder the movement. During the Black Arts Movement they broadcast information through newspapers, books, and music. One way people during the Black Arts Movement communicated information is through books, which are written work for keeping records in.
Throughout the years, media has advanced along with technology. They now range in sizes, small to large, and weight, heavy and light. The means of communication we have used evolved from newspapers to televisions, social media, and the list goes on. They aid people in keeping us connected and keeping them informed of new products and of the environment. Media is an important part of the lives of neighbors, friends, family members, and the rest of the world. It is how they all stay connected. significant why it matters Why: mold the children molds the world. Affects how they act, feel, act towards others, and how they react to different events in their lives.
... newspaper had first came around and that was on the first ways to read about information. Then we have the radio on the other hand to where we can listen and hear the news and important information in their cars and at home. So people could basically hear the news wherever they went. Having the radio in your car could be a plus and people would automatically be attracted to what was being said in their cars. Lastly we have the tv which had attracted people to discrimination first hand in their homes. Having all these different types of media had helped discrimination because people could see or hear it first hand at home or on the go. Media influenced the civil rights and caught people's eye so therefore more people knew about it and the people in office were more likely to make a change faster to if the discrimination and civil rights wasn't in the media.
Media has become a major part of our lives. Indeed it has shape the way we perceive other races. Minority races such as Latinos, African American, Native American and Asians are being misrepresented in media. Media has a huge impact on race, by presenting race stereotypes media is telling us that certain races behave a particular way which shapes the way society sees them and in many times the way they see themselves. We tend to believe everything media says about us and other races without questioning if it is actually true.
Media is the most powerful sector of an economy. It is a tool to maintain a balanced society which is characterized by well informed people, effective democracy and social justice. In fact, media has unparallel influence on all aspects of human life in modern times.
The average first grade girl in the United States weighs between forty-four and sixty pounds with a height of forty-five inches. the average second and third graders weigh between sixty and seventy pounds with a height commonly around fifty inches1. The average weight of an American preteen is seventy to one hundred and twenty pounds, as well as a height between fifty-four and fifty-nine inches. These are young people whose minds and bodies are rapidly changing and developing. Because of this unique time in their lives, these young people need to be stimulated and challenged to grow their minds as well as their bodies.
Sometimes I wonder why some people become parents. In recent months two incidents involving mothers and their four-year-old daughters have come into the national spotlight. One mother dressed her four-year-old daughter as Dolly Parton complete with fake breasts. The other mother dressed her four-year-old as a prostitute for a laugh and paraded her in the neighborhood. I do not understand how a mother thinks it is okay to do this to her child. They seem to not understand the effects it can have on a young girl. The mothers are teaching their daughters that physical appearance should be a priority, to compare themselves to others, and the mothers are exploiting their daughters just for a laugh. These situations are morally wrong in my eyes.
Whether one likes it or not, media will always be a part of our lives in one way or another because it comes in different forms and sizes. When an advertisement of a product for example, the mind set or thinking of one changes towards that particular thing and that is one way of why media matters. This happens in different aspects of life when presented with media, it can be social, cultural, political or economic.
The media though is a really good thing. It helps us relay messages back and forth. It is a very good source of communication. It informs people of what is happening in our community and throughout the world. The media can also be a very bad thing however. It is sometimes used against people. It can relay a different message than what is being shown. It can make people seem like really bad people when they are really are just regular nice people.
Media is the most powerful tool of communication. It helps promoting the right things on right time. It gives a real exposure to the mass audience about what is right or wrong.
