Lillian Rose Lee was kidnapped one day while walking along the road and was held captive for eleven years. Since then Lee has begun to live out her dreams(Bush). Even after captivity, Lee decided to continue her life in a positive way. Living life the way a person wants to should be an individual 's main priority, and Lillian Lee is a prime example of this and shows that life really does go on. In an effort to change her life for the better, Lee knew she had to make major changes within herself. One article about Lee’s life after captivity says, “Knight legally changed her name to Lillian Rose Lee and has become an advocate for victims of abuse and violence(Jones).” Michelle Knight, or Lillian Rose Lee, has become a major survivor from numerous events, and had the courage to make a commitment of changing her name. Lee helps to let other victims know that life will be okay. Lillian Rose Lee’s life obstacles are not over yet though, she still has many more to come and she knows it. Lillian Lee will probably never have children or see her son again due to the fact that he was adopted while she was in captivity, but she has decided to not let that stand in her way of living her life. She has rode a motorcycle, recorded her first single, and dedicates her time to helping survivors(Jones). Therefore, instead of dwelling on the past, Lee has decided to be happy and make her dreams come true. For Lillian Rose Lee, life still goes on and seems to be going in her
Her full name was Shirley Lucille Hardin, Lou for short. She was the daughter of Herbert Sidney Hardin and Shirley Lucille Jackson. Lou was born in 1919 in San Francisco, California. Lou’s childhood was very unstable due to the mother being only nineteen when she had Lou. Her mother, Shirley was known as a 1920s flapper girl, which at the time was similar to an exotic dancer. Flappers bobbed their hair, smoked, drank, and treated sex very casual. Herbert disappeared shortly after the birth of Lou and he mother gave her to her mother, Shirley Lucille Jackson, to look after her and raise her. Early reports of Lou’s first marriage with Cleon Morgan Cox II, or Red, said that Lou was a horrible mother, to her two son Cleon and George. Shortly after Lou’s divorce with Red is around the same time that she met Howard’s dad, Rodney. Within the next year, 1955, Rodney prosed to Lou and they all moved in together under one house. With Lou’s previous marriage, she was more financially stable than the Dully family which seems to bother Rodney. “A woman should not be the bread winner in the family.” Rodney soon took up multiple jobs in order to become more financially stable to support his family better. Beside from teaching at an elementary school, he worked as a motion picture processor at Eastman Kodak, a check at Whitecliff Market, and lastly as a crossing guard for the same elementary school that he teaches at. He also enlisted into the national guard and took military classes on weekends Rodney’s attitude and relationship with his children began to spiral downward. Rodney was never home and when he was home he didn’t want to be bother. If the children woke him up they would get punished for it. Lou also ran a tight ship and kept t...

Nelle Harper Lee, the famous author of the worldwide bestseller To Kill a Mockingbird, was born April 28th, 1926, to Amasa Coleman (a lawyer) and Frances Lee. At the time, the family lived in Monroeville, Alabama. Harper’s family was somewhat wealthy, and they lived in upper middle class society most of their lives. Harper’s birth name, Nelle, was her grandmother’s spelled backwards (Ellen). However, in her publications, she took her middle name, Harper, to avoid being known as “Nellie”. But what numerous people have never heard - and many would be shocked to know - is that one windy, rainy night, Harper threw all her unpublished manuscripts of To Kill a Mockingbird out the window! Fortunately, she soon realized what she had done, and called over her editor, Tay Hohoff, to assist her. Hohoff sent her out in the snow and slush to retrieve her pages, which luckily had not fallen far away. But one would wonder: what would have happened if she had done the same on a slightly windier night?
Robert Lee Frost began life in San Francisco on March 26, 1874. For an unknown reason, Frost believed for years that he was actually born in 1875. When Frost’s father died in 1885 his mother decided to move closer to her wealthy parents in Massachusetts. In California, Frost had dropped out of kindergarten after one day, and upon returning to the first grade, also dropped out. This was no deterrent on Frost to attend college. He was accepted to Harvard but instead attended Dartmouth because of his financial situation. Even though Frost found the school to be anything but challenging, he would not finish his time at Dartmouth, nor earn any formal degree in a school (Bengtsson). He once said of schooling that “Education is hanging around until you’ve caught on.” Interestingly enough, Robert Frost held several postions at credible schools, including Amherst and Harvard. Also, Frost was awarded an incredible amount of honorary degrees from Berkley to Yale (Parini 59). Frosts careers also ranged from editing for Henry Holt to raising poultry on his Derry, New Hampshire farm.
