Lesniak staff chief sues hospital over wife's death following birth of twins
The state Sen. Chief of Staff Raymond Lesniak filed negligence treatment suit against Trinitas Regional Medical Center and its staff over his wife after she gave birth to twins leading to her death.
According to the lawsuit, Antonio Teixeira wife, Marlenes Teixeira, 35, died roughly four months after suffering a brain hemorrhage having never regained consciousness. Antonio, further states that the hospital staff failed to recognize and treat his wife's preeclampsia, a hypertensive disorder.

Preeclampsia is a hypertensive disorder commonly experienced by women in the third trimester of pregnancy. It often presents onset elevated blood pressure, neurological impairments, and persistent headache.

He further stated that this loss was tragic. However, this was a preventable and easily curable.
Doug Harris, the spokesperson of Trinitas Regional Medical Center, declined to comment on pending litigation.
The lawsuit records that Marlenes was admitted to Trinitas on February 2 at about 3:30 p.m. for a cesarean section (C-section) delivery of her twin boys. Three hours later, the boys were delivered, and, shortly after, Marlenes developed a severe case of hypertension and a frontal headache. Her condition persisted for about 8 hours, until about 11 p.m., when she lost all sensation on the left side of her body and was unresponsive verbally. Moments later, she began seizing, and it was discovered she suffered a brain hemorrhage after a CAT scan.
Marlenes was then transferred to St. Barnabas Medical Center for further treatment where she passed on, on June 25.
