There were many famous artist back then. One of the most well-known artist was Leonardo da Vinci. Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452 near a village called Vinci. Vinci was located in Italy and was about twenty-five miles away from Florence (“Leonardo da Vinci Biography.”). His parents are Ser Piero da Vinci and Caterina. Ser Piero da Vinci was Leonardo’s father, his occupation was a notary. Caterina was Leonardo’s mother, she was just a local woman that no one really knew about. Caterina and Ser Piero were not married and Leonardo was the only child they had together. Leonardo was not only an artist but he had focused on other studies such as science and technology. The Last Supper is when Jesus had his last meal with his Apostles before crucifixion. In 1495 Da Vinci was asked if he would paint The Last Supper on the back wall of the dining hall in the monastery of Milan’s Santa Maria delle Grazie. He accepted the job to paint it. It took him about three years to complete this job but the painting did get finished (Biography.com Editors.). Even though it may have been a little difficult to paint he still managed to paint it. This painting had many details such as facial expressions. The facial expressions where so detailed it brought the picture to life. People could actually visualize how The Last Supper may have looked. Da Vinci used oil and a specific type of pain to paint this painting (Biography.com Editors.). Da Vinci spent a lot of time with his friend/apprentice Count Francesco Melzi. He was only sixty-seven years old when he passed away ("Biography of Leonardo Da Vinci."). Da Vinci was buried in the Chapel of Saint-Hubert inside of a castle of Amboise. Even though he is not here today, many people will keep his name alive. He was known as great artist. But, he was not just an artist he is still known as a great engineer and scientist. His name will forever be alive, and his works of art will forever be great pieces of art no matter how old the art is.
