Vanessa shares the bedroom with her son, Victim Salvador Narvaez and sister, Suspect Alexandra Narvaez. Vanessa saw that Suspect Alexandra Narvaez was sweeping the bedroom floor. Suspect Narvaez swept the trash into a pile and saw that Victim Narvaez began playing with the trash. Vanessa saw that Suspect Narvaez became upset with Victim Narvaez and struck him once in the face with the plastic portion of the broom (just above the straw portion of the broom). Victim Narvaez began crying as a result of being hit. Vanessa stood up from the bed and defended Victim Narvaez by pushing Suspect Narvaez against a shelving unit in the southwest portion of the bedroom. Vanessa reportedly saw that Suspect Narvaez was still holding the broom as she pushed her. Vanessa saw that the plastic broom handle hit Suspect Narvaez once in the face. Vanessa saw that Suspect Narvaez bit her tongue as she pushed her. Witness Joanna Lynnette Narvaez came into the bedroom and separated Vanessa and Suspect Narvaez. Vanessa saw Suspect Narvaez leave the bedroom without further incident. Vanessa and Joanna contacted their parents to report the incident. Vanessa told me that she has a current DCFS case open. The case is currently assigned to Social Worker Martha Lopez (626-229-3859). I spoke with Suspect Alexandra Narvaez, who told me the following information in summary: Suspect Narvaez saw that Vanessa was sitting on the bed inside of their shared bedroom. Suspect Alexandra Narvaez reportedly was sweeping the bedroom floor. Suspect Narvaez swept the trash into a pile and saw that Victim Narvaez began playing with the trash. Suspect Narvaez became upset with Victim Narvaez and struck him once in the face with the plastic portion of the broom (just above the straw portion of the broom). Suspect Narvaez told me that she was upset with Victim Narvaez and did not intend to hurt him. Suspect Narvaez saw that Victim Narvaez began crying as a result of being hit. Suspect Narvaez saw that Vanessa stood up from the bed and pushed her against a shelving unit in the southwest portion of the bedroom. Suspect Narvaez was still holding the broom as Vanessa pushed her. Suspect Narvaez felt the plastic broom handle hit her once in the face which caused her to bite her tongue. Suspect Narvaez saw Witness Joanna Lynnette Narvaez enter the bedroom and separated them. Suspect Narvaez left the bedroom and walked into the bathroom to determine the extent of her injuries. Suspect Narvaez looked into the bathroom's mirror and saw the right side of her tongue was cut and bleeding. A few minutes later, Suspect Narvaez saw her father, Claudio Andres Narvaez arrived at the residence. It should be noted that Claudio does not reside at the above residence (1499 N. Los Robles Avenue, Pasadena/ DOB 12-02-73/ 626-486-6132). Claudio reportedly wanted Suspect Narvaez to leave the location with him to prevent any additional incidents between the sisters. Suspect Narvaez told me that she did not want to go with her father because he yells at her when he is upset. Suspect Narvaez stated she would rather live in a foster home instead of living at her mother's or father's residence. Suspect Narvaez refused to leave the residence with her father and began crying. I spoke with Witness Joanna Narvaez, who told me the following information in summary: Joanna was in the living room area of the residence and heard what seemed to be a physical altercation between Vanessa and Suspect Narvaez. Joanna entered the bedroom and saw Suspect Narvaez holding a broom with her back against the shelving unit in the southwest corner. Joanna saw Vanessa standing in front of Suspect Narvaez and yelling at her not to hit Victim Narvaez again. Joanna saw that Victim Narvaez was crying in the bedroom. Joanna stood between Vanessa and Suspect Narvaez to prevent any physical altercations between them. Joanna saw Suspect Narvaez leave the bedroom. Joanna reportedly did not see Vanessa or Suspect Narvaez involved in a physical fight. Joanna contacted her parents and reported the incident between the sisters.
A few minutes later their father, Claudio Andres Narvaez arrived at the residence. While speaking with Joanna, she disclosed to me that Vanessa does not properly take care of Victim Narvaez. Joanna has reportedly seen Vanessa at the residence on several occasions under the influence of marijuana and alcoholic beverages. Joanna watches Victim Narvaez while Vanessa is under the influence. Joanna said that Vanessa is neglecting Victim Narvaez and she should not be using marijuana or drinking alcoholic beverages around the victim. Joanna did not mention any physical abuse of Victim Narvaez by Vanessa. It should be noted that the residence was clean and food was inside of the refrigerator. Victim Narvaez seemed to be in good health. Vanessa was not under the influence of any narcotics or alcoholic beverages at the time of my interview with her. I took photos of Victim Narvaez, Suspect Narvaez and Vanessa. I saw that Suspect Narvaez sustained an approximate half inch cut on the right side of her tongue as a result of the above incident.
