Over the years Law enforcement officers have helped our community with preventing crime and help those who are in need help. They help with domestic violence, Robberies, keeping our roads safe, and help at games, large gatherings. So before deciding to enter this profession, it is important to know what law enforcement involves, what must be done to become an officer, what training is required, and what salary options are available.
Law Enforcement takes dedication and time management to become a Police Officer. The process to become a police officer minimum requirements have to be meet before being sworn in to enforcement. There are many different skills and abilities that help while going into the law enforcement. Being able to use good judgement and to solve a problem, capacity for empathy and compassion, Multi-tasking, Demonstrate courage and to take responsibility, To be resourceful and show initiative, Demonstrating assertiveness, Engaging in teamwork and ability to collaborate. These are just a few skills that work well with these skills and abilities. Being able to solve a problem would be with the crimes, also being able to work together good with your co-workers. There is many ways to build these up would be volunteering with your local law enforcement departments, helping organize a community service project by helping others so that your social skills would be well. Also serving as an intern, working in retail, or having a job that deals with people a lot, working in the community that will help understand the dynamics of your community that you would be working in to get the feel of the community. One other way to help you with the understanding the skills that you may need would be going through an educational course about different skills and how to get them and maintain them. Also you would have to go through a hiring process which would be very simple. Having to have the basic Application, Written Exam/Entrance Test, Video Exam, and Physical Fitness/ Ability Test. The federal law enforcement agencies has sixty-five federal agencies and twenty-seven offices of inspectors that employ full time jobs that are able to arrest and carry firearms. The largest employers of the federal agencies are U.S. Custom and Border Protection, FBI, and the U.S. Immigration and Customs, with over 15,000 full-time law enforcement. State and Local law enforcement agencies have more than 17,000 agencies in the United States. The local law enforcement would be Local police who cover your local town and city limits. They only have the responsibility for your jurisdiction, patrol, local crimes in city limits. The Deputy Sheriffs are granted the authority by the state to enforce the local and state laws. When enforcing the laws they are taking the state laws and enforcing them at a local level. Deputies run the local jail, courtrooms, serve warrants, and responds to calls that are outside of the local police limits. Deputies also have many parts of serving in the courtroom as bailiff, and the officer that served the warrant. The State Highway Patrol are able to perform with your local police and any statewide investigations. State Highway Patrol cover highway patrol and statewide investigation and anything that happens within the state limits. Highway Patrol are also the main law enforcement officers that will be at the scene of an accident to report
