He mentioned that the article was rejected on several occasions by more highly ranked journals. In my response to him, I reminded him of the story of the Kreb Cycle.

“…Also manuscripts being rejected is not that unusual. We all try to get our pubs to Science and/or Nature or the premiere journal of our discipline. I am reminded of the story of the Kreb Cycle. According to many sources, there was not anything wrong with Krebs’ paper, but Nature simply did not look at it, so they rejected it. The paper, “The role of citric acid in intermediate metabolism in animal tissues” was published in the journal Enzymologia – a virtual unknown journal outside of the Netherlands. We fully understand and accept his personal judgement. However, in his response he also questioned the credibility of the Tenure and Promotion Committee. Collectively we have more than 105 years of experience in higher education. All three of the members of the committee have served as Chair of the Department of Biology. Dr. Bowman is recognized by the Department of Education and NASA for his experience in identifying excellence in teaching. Dr. Duncan has been our Teach of the Year in our Department. He also is recognized as a health educator expert. He teaches as an adjunct at UVa. I am the director of the Intelligence Community Center and a DHS fellow. I have reviewed for the Department of Education, National Science Foundation and the EPA. We take the concept of tenure as an important step. We believe that Dr. Regina Oyesanya is an excellent teacher and a tremendous access to our department. She has participated in first view and all the other programs that have been set forth by the Dean and the Department. She teaches in the nursing program and has helped the nursing student in their retention and understanding of microbiological
