The King James Bible is known as the Bible and in the Bible there is more than 1,200 years of books and different stories in 2 main parts. The Old Testament was written by the Hebrews and New Testament was written by the Greeks. It was completed in 1611 and was a main corner stone to European culture. Back in the day it was in Egyptian which meant that the priests had to learn how to read the Egyptian language. The parable called “The Prodigal Son” is in the King James Bible and when you read this there are some good lessons that you can get out of it and some bad things that you can get out of it.
Sometimes we need to be slapped in the face before we learn what we needed to learn. In the “The Prodigal Son” from the King James Bible the younger

Near the middle of “The Prodigal Son” in the King James Bible the younger son comes back to his father but as a slave which means that he doesn’t get any of the money that the land produces. In verse 20 it tells us “And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.” And to me I would say that is forgiving someone that has hurt you. The son’s dad was a very forgiving person because after the son took half his money and took off for a while to spend it all than come back and to forgive him is love for his son. That father could have done so many other thigs to his son but he ended up being happy for his return back …show more content…
“…..Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf…….And he was angry.” So the older son wasn’t as forgiving as the dad was. He was mad that the son took all his money and spent it then came back to the house just to get a party thrown for him. We can learn from this guy and what we can learn is that we can be more forgiving to those who we think that they don’t deserve what they have like the other son got a party that he might not have deserved. We can learn that no matter what when we don’t forgive that we won’t be thankful for things like a son coming back home but when you do forgive thinks start to make life more happy and uplifting. If I was the older son I would have forgiven him and be happy for the good food at the party. It makes thinks in life to forgive and not hold a grudge then to hold a grudge and not
Forgiving someone is a way to release us from the pain they have brought us. Justice can just be
Once upon a time, castles watched the seas and pigs could fly. Often, when we are young fairy tales are read to us to offer happy endings in a world of darkness. They give us one specific ending and put our minds at rest knowing that Belle found her Beast. In Song of Solomon, by Toni Morrison, Milkman Dead is not afforded the luxury of his journey having one specific pathway of going through life. Milkman’s story can be seen as a fairy tale with elements of good and bad. His world is trapped in a bubble, and it is not until the fairy tales of other people and books end that he becomes his own fairytale. He finds himself through the twists and turns of his own story. Because of the magical elements within Milkman’s life,
The Old Testament and the Bible itself has been studied extensively for centuries. Archeologists and Scholars have labored and pondered over texts trying to decipher its clues. It does not matter how many times the Old Testament has been studied there will always be something new to learn about it or the history surrounding it. In the book Reading the Old Testament: an Introduction, the author Lawrence Boadt presents us with a few different authors of the Old Testament that used different names for God and had a unique insight into the texts. These four sources are titled P for priests, E for Elohim, J for Jehovah, and Y for Yahweh (95). These four unique sources help us realize that there is more than one author of the Pentateuch. These authors took the text and adapted for their culture. This independent source is used by scholars to help gain insight into what was behind the texts of the bible so we are not left with an incomplete picture of what went into the creation of the bible. Julius Wellhausen used these four sources to publish a book to able us to better understand the sources and to give it credibility with the Protestant scholars at the time (Boadt 94). These sources that is independent of the bible as in the DVD Who Wrote the Bible? and the Nova website aide in shedding light on the history that surrounded the writers who wrote the text and what inspired them to write it in the first place. The DVD shows the discovery of The Dead Sea Scrolls and the extensive history of the texts and all its sources in an effort to try to find exactly who wrote the bible (Who Wrote). These scrolls have aided scholars immensely by giving us some of the oldest known manuscripts of the bible in the world today. It shows that the bible w...
Holding onto grudges for a long period of time can sometimes make a person forget that there are some things you have to let go. Forgiveness is the understanding of situations and realizing that they may not be as serious as it was thought to be before. Just from the title of the poem, Forgiving My Father, it could be perceived as a poem that focuses on forgiveness, yet it’s main focus is on the negative qualities of Clifton 's father, who appears to have been a poor patriarch to both his wife and daughter through his own irresponsibility. The father was taking more than he was giving and was portrayed as an poor father and husband. The daughter explains that her mother gave her all and her father had nothing to offer. In Lucille Clifton’s , “Forgiving my Father,” Clifton’s endless stress from her deceased parents pushed her to forgive their wrongdoings and let go of the burden.
Kallistos Ware’s article, “How to Read the Bible”, explains the necessary components of reading the Bible. He explained that Saint Tikhon’s perspective of the Bible is that God’s Word is love letter to His people, a conversation between God and man (Ware, 1). He also expressed the Moscow statement where the Bible helps us to obey God when we hear the message, receive it, and interpret it in order to apply it to our lives (Ware, 1). As a result, Ware combines these two ideas with four important concepts about reading the Bible: the reading is obedient, ecclesial, Christ-centered, and personal (Ware, 1). Ware describes obedience as listening to God’s voice in order to receive the message with an open heart. In addition, the reading of Scriptures
Forgiving is a challenge in itself, especially when people do not feel there is justification for the wrongdoing. The ability to forgive is to forget about the harm afflicted by the active person. Forgiving is an act of obedience to God’s will, but how long does it take to achieve this? People may question the difficulty of the task. Forgiving can also seem like a battle between winning and losing. For instance, in this case scenario, if the mother decides to forgive her husband, she will feel defeated. There should be consequences and no remorse for his actions. In addition, the children are hurting from the pain of disloyalty. How can they forgive his actions according to Jesus and the Kingdom?
Today, we take this parable very lightly, as we have been brought up in a culture that forgives people’s faults easily. Most people think, “Yeah, I forgive everyone who harms me.” However, if you think about it, this just isn’t true, as everyone has a couple of people they hold a grudge against, and this parable is telling us to stop holding that grudge. Forgiving is a huge part of Christian teaching and should not be taken lightly.
What is forgiveness? Is it forgiving yorself? Is it forgiving the person who hurt you? Tony Robbins the famous life coach once said” Forgiveness is a gift you give yourself”. The quote that Tony Robbins said made me open my eyes and made me realize the mistakes I have done in the past.
I believe author Rosemary Nixon summarized this passage best when she said, “ In theory we can say God can forgive, but in practice we sometimes
The King James Bible is something that the majority of all human have ran across. For most it is the Bible of choice until recent times. It plays a part of the fabric of life for most Christians. This work has changed the narration on a lot of events in human history. It has promoted growth in literature is even being used to teach individual how to read. It has spread the religion of Christianity because it allowed many users to read the Bible for themselves. Instead of being told what the Greek or Hebrew translation says by the Priest who could read it. This work has been used for personal gain in politics, race, and anything dealing with power. The biggest impact I believe the King James Bible has created besides the spreading of the Gospel
" Forgiveness undoes your own hatred and fees us from a trouble pass" ( Chirstophere Peterson)
He continues, “That’s because it is impossible. Try as you may, we are completely unable to genuinely forgive others, in our own power. That is why there are so many of us, wandering around in the confusion of saying we forgive, but still holding on to those offenses, and that inner turmoil is holding us back in our Christian walks.”
“Knowledge is power.” These three simple words express more about life than many of us can even fathom. This is especially true when we talk about the Bible. For one to understand the true power of the Lord and meaning of His words, one must first be able to comprehend the Bible. Just reading the Bible will help, but further research into its origin will maximize your knowledge. I do not consider myself a religious guru or know-it-all. I took the time to dive in to a book to help further my knowledge on the subject of God’s words in the Bible. The book I chose was Neil R. Lightfoot’s How We Got the Bible. I have never been an avid reader but for reason this book had me hooked from the start. I learned more about the Bible than I knew. I feel more connected to the Lord and have a much better understanding of the bible ever since I read it. I would now like to give to you my newly acquired knowledge.
A strong Christian lesson on the true nature of forgiveness can be found in Christ’s Sermon on the Mount:
Forgiveness is the act of releasing an offender of any wrong or hurt they may have caused you whether they deserve it or not. It is a decision to let go of resentment or vengeance toward a person or group of people. When we choose to forgive, we’re wiping the slate clean, cancelling a debt, or as I love to say, “Letting it go.” In the Bible, the Greek word for forgiveness literally means to “let it go.” This concept, “forgiveness,” is easier said than done. Majority of people find it very difficult to let go of offenses and hurts caused by others. I really do believe that most people desire to let it go, but we lack the knowledge of how to do it. As believers, we are instructed by God maintain an attitude of forgiveness.
