How important is culture? Culture is a concept that can be described and defined in many different ways. According to an article titled, What is Culture?, the author Kim Zimmermann describes it as the language we speak, the religion we believe in, our social habits, the area that we live in, and the music and arts that we like. Culture is one of the most important factors for people in their everyday life. Our traditions and the way we were raised into society is all based on our culture. Culture is also a unifying force that can bring people together through war, but also creates diversity and makes everyone different from another. People in there specific countries will become closer and closer, because they are fighting together for something they strongly believe in. After the war is over countries will most likely have a positive or a negative experience. Either positive or negative experience the culture of the group or country will be the unifying force. For example, in the Egyptian revolution of 2011, Egyptians with different backgrounds protested against the president, Hosni Mubarak because he was corrupt. Most of the revolution failed, but culture kept the Egyptians strong and powerful together. A photograph from Scott Nelson shows thousands of Egyptians of all color and gender, protesting together in order to overthrow the president. Some can be similar, but never the same due to culture. A lot of individuals have similar cultures because of the country their from or what they believe in, but everyone has their own unique culture. For example, immigrants that move to the United States of America will have to learn the new American culture. My parents and I experienced this when we first moved to America. Once we lived in America for a while, our culture slowly started to change. Although we kept our Egyptian culture, we added a lot of new things like tradition, food, and the new language. When moving countries, people will add new traditions, learn a new language, and change some beliefs. Doing such will change your culture. For example, in the movie God Father (1972), an Italian family moves to the United States. They immediately have a change in culture, because of the different language and beliefs in America that they see and experience everyday. Although they keep their italian traditions and beliefs, they are influenced to add new ones by society and the common beliefs in the states. In these examples culture is extremely powerful, and can easily change someone's
