Yet, the other Wes Moore had come across his mother's weed stash one day while looking for some change in her room. To me this is just unacceptable, Mary is held responsible for becoming a role model to her children. She should be showing her kids how drugs are bad, not be using them. The other Wes Moore came home drunk one afternoon after a day full of adventure with his friends, who had been smoking pot and drinking alcohol. As soon as Wes entered the house, Mary's boyfriend at the time noticed something was up.
Due to their surroundings, most children become what they see. If they see all the adults smoking marijuana freely around them, of course they’re going to think it’s okay to smoke marijuana. They believe with marijuana being illegal, it should be impossible for them to smoke weed. Once the child smokes illegal drugs, they’re no longer seen as innocent. They’ll be punished severely for their actions.
David Sheff starts the story of his family with Nic’s birth and goes all the way long to the present days when his son had survived several years of drug abuse, rehabilitations and relapses. Sheff confesses that his son started to use different kinds of drugs when he was very young. At the age of 11 he would try alcohol and some pot. “In early May, I pick Nic up after school one day …When he climbs into a car I smell cigarette smoke. I lecture him and he promises not to do it again. Next Friday after school…I am packing an overnight bag for him and look for a sweater in his backpack. I do not find a sweater, but instead discover a small bag of marijuana.” (Sheff, 200...

While Monica was being arrested by Phoenix Police, Officer Prado watched Fiona McFadden. Officer Prado observed Fiona move a highchair towards a power box on the wall of the apartment near the apartment front door. Fiona then climbed and stood on top of her highchair and opened the lid to the power box and pointed to an extended black folding knife (see attached) with the blade out and stated: "this is daddy's knife." Officer Prado quickly removed the knife out of safety for Fiona as she was in reach of the extended knife. It should be noted that all of the narcotics in the apartment located by Phoenix Police were in reach and accessible to Fiona. It was also observed by Phoenix Police that Fiona had full access to the apartment and was not restricted to any area. This was also observed by this
On November 3, 2006 the DEA received a crime-stoppers tip that Joelis Jardines’s home was being used to grow cannabis. On December 6, 2006 two DEA agents took a drug dog, Franky, without a warrant to the Jardines home and walked onto the front porch where Franky signaled narcotics. The DEA agents then obtained a warrant based on the evidence that Franky detected drugs on the Jardines
Although there are numerous deaths, at least 100,000, from prescription drugs each year, there has never been a death attributed to marijuana. The late Dr. Tod Mikuriya, a former administrator of the US government’s marijuana research programs, stated that after he had treated about 10,000 patients in 15 years, he felt that there are about 200 different medical conditions that respond favorably to medical marijuana.
This article is very useful for people who need to understand why people use the drug and where there may be problems. There are some parts of this piece that are hard to follow as he uses jargon that is used in research on cannabis. This is a great starting point to my paper as I can discuss what users are doing with this plant and the pros and cons, they will help me make a strong argument. This story talks about something that I am against, which is synthetic marijuana and the problems that consumers are having with it. This article is written in simple language, but it contains some parts where a simple knowledge of cannabis would be useful.

Warf, C. (2005). Response to the American Academy of Pediatrics Report on legalization of marijuana. Pediatrics, 116(5), 1256-1257.
The legalization of marijuana for medicinal purposes has become an increasingly controversial topic, with many different issues on which people have many different opinions. There is opposition to the legalization of marijuana for medicinal purposes because it has the potential to be used incorrectly, however it is also considered that there is the potential for marijuana to be used in relieving the suffering of many seriously ill patients. Marijuana has been used by people for thousands of years to provide relief from many different serious medical problems. There are many doctors who currently support the effectiveness of using marijuana as treatment for various medical conditions. The many people who are suffering from cancer, multiple sclerosis, and AIDS have found that marijuana can be a very effective pain and symptom reliever. The legalization of marijuana for medicinal purposes is viewed by its opposers as one of the worst things that we could do. Their reasons are that they feel that marijuana should not be legalized for medical use because it is an illegal substance and until that is changed, prescribing it is against the law. "Attorney General Janet Reno announced that physicians in any state who prescribe the drug could lose the privilege of writing prescriptions, be excluded from medicare and Medicaid reimbursements, and even be prosecuted for a federal crime" (Kassier 1). Government officials such as Janet Reno are not the only ones to object to the legalization of marijuana. Many parents groups like Mothers Against Drunk Drivers object to the legalization of marijuana for medical uses.
The use of marijuana for medicinal purposes has long been at the centre of much controversy. Some studies have shown results that the benefits of using marijuana for medicinal reasons far outweigh the negative health matters that may be associated with its use, and therefore should be an accepted method of treatment for some patients who are suffering with illnesses such as multiple sclerosis, cancer, AIDS, and eating disorders (Okie, 2005). Still, other studies have proven that there is not enough scientific evidence on the drug, there for it should not be legalized for the use of medication (Hutchings, 2002). Currently the issue is moving forward, although not without controversy, but it is unclear when a clear decision will be made.
The first person I’m going to tell you about is Stacie the jokester. The reason my sister is the jokester of the family is she always tells you jokes or awful puns that make you want to laugh no matter how hard you try not to. I remember one time I was so upset when I lost my best friend that I was walking through the school and to her car crying. On the way home she kept trying to get me to smile with puns like what did the waiter say to the customer when they gave them their order, careful it’s fishy. When she got me laughing she was happy because she made me happy. Whenever I am in a bad mood she can sense it and starts telling puns and jokes. She will also walk around in public and tell people she meets her puns and jokes to make them happy. She also will end up making a joke if someone starts to say something that is related to something she has heard or seen. That is why Stacie is and always will be the family jokester.
The use of drugs and mind-alternating substances has been a part of society for decades. The ‘high’ that people attain from the use of such substances is very attractive and exciting however, the effects of this use are minimized. Particularly for youth, a group of individuals who are seeking independence and experimentation, drug use represents the balance between taking risks and taking responsibility for one’s actions. However, the developmental processes of adolescents are known to not encompass the maturity required to fully think through such decisions. As such, the use of a ‘smaller-scale’ drug like marijuana is even more minimized. The purpose of this paper is to discuss what the risks of using marijuana are for youths, why they are the most affected, how this problem has progressed over the last three decades, and what preventative measures and treatment options are in place. It will also discuss what schools, parents, and government agencies could be doing to help improve the issue, and the impact that this issue is having on society.
