It also points out that some experts have been changing their minds on this issue and believe that the medical marijuana should be legal. In addition, new laws could help researchers study the medicinal uses of the drug and better understand how medical cannabis impacts the body. There are at least two active chemicals in marijuana that have medicinal benefits. One chemical is cannabidiol (CBD), which appears to impact the brain without a high. The second chemical is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which has pain relieving and other properties. The article discussed several potential health benefits to medical cannabis. For example, medical marijuana can be used to test glaucoma by slowing the progression of the disease and preventing blindness. It can help control epileptic seizures and decrease the symptoms of a severe seizure disorder known as Dravet’s Syndrome. The chemical CBD may help prevent cancer from spreading. In addition, it may decrease anxiety, ease the pain from multiple sclerosis, and slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. Each of the health benefits that are presented also gives research that supports its claim. This is a good article to support the legalization of medical marijuana.

The late Dr. Tod Mikuriya, a former administrator of the US government’s marijuana research programs, stated that after he had treated about 10,000 patients in 15 years, he felt that there are about 200 different medical conditions that respond favorably to medical marijuana. This article listed the 10 most common conditions that medical marijuana has been proven to help. The list included Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, glaucoma, arthritis, depression, anxiety, hepatitis C, morning sickness, cancer, HIV/AIDS, and chemotherapy. Each condition provides research or some type of support to verify the benefits.
